If Arkansas beats Duke today this coach should be considered by us for the future... Whenever that is??

Eric Musselman
The fact that he beat us is more of a qualifier than what happens to Duke. Why? Because he is better than what we currently have, and his players seem to really enjoy playing for him which is more than can be said for our players' relationship with Cal. He is showing what it is to coach a team to play above expectations.

Great observation his players seem to enjoy playing for him, and his dad was a legendary coach as well. Eric had some great teams at the University of Nevada....Just my opinion of him...

Hopefully Notae is on and doesn't shoot Arkansas out of it.
I was at the games Thursday, and he took some really bad shots. On one hand he does need to have a good game, but on the other Hand if he gets carried away with shots it could sink them.

The one thing that stood out to me is how big and fast Davis, Toney, Umude, Wade and Williams are.
Hoping they play a pretty clean game and aren’t in foul trouble, they will not back down from Paolo, Griffin, Williams, etc.
Cmon Hogs!!!!!

He acts like an idiot after he wins a big game. Screaming, yelling, jumping, stripping down. Act like you’ve been there dude.
Here is some of what I wrote on a previous thread here about Coach Musselman.

Yes, he is emotional, celebrates like crazy after big wins, but he and the staff prepare and coach so hard he wants to enjoy the success with the players, family and fans. He has said that his biggest regret at Nevada while coaching Cody and Caleb Martin was that they didn't celebrate victories. They would win by 10 and be upset and disappointed that they didn't win by 15-20. The removing of the shirt happened at Nevada, the students asked him in the campout line if he would do it if we beat number one Auburn and he said yes.

Just listening to his preparation and in game adjustments makes my head spin at times. He mentioned in an interview on Jim Rome after the New Mexico State game that he and the staff had reviewed old NBA notes on Kobe, Lebron, and others on the best approach on how to defend Teddy Allen. He also stated during the in-game interview that Arkansas was deploying different coverages and had already used four. It worked to perfection, Allen had 37 points the previous game, finished with 12 against Arkansas.

He has been through the basketball wars at multiple levels, has a huge amount of NBA coaching experience with himself and with those on the staff, and many don't know he actually finished second in NBA coach of the year voting at one time.

I don't see him leaving Arkansas for another college coaching job unless UCLA or possibly USC opens up, but who knows, he may want to try the NBA again too. He really is a west coast guy, but one thing I know, if he leaves, it won't be for money. Arkansas will not be outbid for him, his wife has family in Arkansas and he knows he can recruit and win in Fayetteville.

For next UK coach? Sorry, but Musselman has gotten Billy Gillispie written all over him. BG II. Don't want to see it.

Godspeed to him tonight, though. May the power of Valhalla and the Thunder of Thor flow through his veins on this night then back to Diet Dr. Pepper and pop tarts tomorrow.

Basing how good or how bad a coach is on a single game is stupid! It's dumb enough to base how good a coach is based on 3 games (St. Peter's coach). If he is so great, how did they lose 11. This is the same line of thinking that brought us BCG.
But Mussellman does look good, and not like a one-hit-wonder.

It is better than acting like all those things you listed before winning as our coach does.

Is it as stupid as giving a coach a lifetime contract?

You look at the matchups it looks like Ark has no chance. But their defense is pretty real. The Duke guards are the ones making the biggest difference right now. Take them out and see if Banchero can beat you is the way I would go about it.

Banchero and Griffin have not had their "freshmen choke in the big games" moment yet.

You know it's going to happen where they play a little tight and their shots don't go in.

Could tonight be the night?

Well, Banchero's size, he is going to shoot over a lot of defenders anyway. Just think taking their guards away would be easier. Griffin is an odd looking player to me. Reminds me of the giggler on the show Death Wish. But yeah, they won't be shooting that good like last night every game.

Arkansas needs to double Banchero when he sets up on the block. He has one move. Fake left, spin right. Drop a guard on him and easy steal on the spin move.

It's against Dook so 1 of 2 things happen. Either Denote will have a horrific shooting night or he will be saddled with foul trouble and never allowed to get into a flow. Or both.

Absolutely zero chance Ark keeps this within 10. The path for K is paved in gold.
