I would have no issue at all. But I don’t have Cal envy.
Cal just ran from a live call in show 😂😂
Cal could leave tomorrow and it would be fine as it would have nothing to do with my life. Anybody that met him for the first time that gave him sh&t is a complete and utter loser that he wouldn't even take seriously. But I do understand there are a lot of classless goobers out there, so some would make fools of themselves, I'm sure.

Chris Holtmann?

You do realize his *** has clearly been put on the hot seat now at Ohio State since he's yet to take them to a Sweet 16 in his first 5 years at Ohio State.

I was in Columbus this past weekend after they lost and that's all the media was talking about. They claim next season is Sweet 16 or out the door for him.

Would he really be a step up from Calipari?
He's a **** coach for this or any elite job. For those who hate Cal's "Stall Ball" late in a game-imagine a game where that is how they play all game. He doesn't just ignore modern basketball, he ignores scoring as being important.

Get that some are upset with Cal but Holtmann would be fired at Kentucky within 2 yrs. He's awful fit for this program.

Be careful what you wish for. You are going to be disappointed.
Yep. When tubby left, we went with a hot, young coach And we got BCG.

I seem to recall Shaka Smart was the hot name. The only thing I’ve heard about him since, is he got hair.

Holtmann isn’t impresive after looking at his record. He hasn’t had a season with less than 9 losses, and has never been to the Sweet Sixteen at OSU.
So according to KSR, UK would hire a coach who has never won a conference, conference tournament and only been to the Sweet 16 once? Yep-that will unify the fanbase. LOL

I know Matt Jones has some “sources “ . But I don’t believe that crap for a second. First off , NOBODY that would have anything to do with the hire is even CONSIDERING or talking about replacing Cal at this point. Secondly, If they were , they would throw out names as a smokescreen in order to have conversations with candidates without the whole world watching. Mark Stoops did this exact thing to Matt just this past fall . KSR had a list of names for the OC and analyzed them to death all week . Then SURPRISE, the hire was none of the guys mentioned.
He just knew this particular subject would create a TON of hits , imo.

Yeah, MJ was just trying to mine for clicks and create discussion that would center around him. So, I guess technically he succeeded.
Honestly, I can see Barnhart having Holtmann on his list but, nearer the bottom than the top. And I doubt very seriously if he'd waste his time on Donovan or Stevens. Remember, UK will almost certainly hire a service to vet any potential candidates. This won't be BCG 2.0.
However, I can also see MB reaching out to someone like Tony Bennett at UVA. Why? Because he'd most likely prefer someone who is more closely aligned to him religiously and personally.
Calipari and Barnhart couldn't be more opposite.
Bennett wouldn't be popular with the fans either but, he'd be a step up from Holtmann.

You hit the nail right on the head. It’s as if people throwing his name out never watched a OSU game.

What NBA team would hire Cal?
Remember early on when Cal was being courted by everyone and their cousins?

That was Cal’s people planting stories to negotiate that ridiculous contract he has! Notice they dried up after he signed it? Coincidental, haha, not an effin chance.

Maybe if you gave Brad Stevens well over $10m a year he might go because that's stupid money, otherwise you're wasting your time.

I hate how Bennett's teams play but he's won championships/National Title. For Jones to mention Chris Holtmann means he doesn't follow CBB. The guy has a hack resume for a program like Kentucky. Just trash.

My favorite part of Holtmann's games are when he's down double digits and will not press and runs patterned offense for 20 secs before getting the shots off which helps his opponents run clock while on defense. He's just so vastly overhyped. But I hate "The Butler Way" so admittedly I'm biased.

Holtmann is a Chris Mack type hire. Btw Jones did even list Stoops as a serious candidate for the football job. He has no idea.
Brad Stevens would be 1st, 2nd and 3rd for me. Would be interesting to see what he could do with the talent he could recruit here.

Here’s a name I haven’t heard mentioned.

rick pitino

why? Bc the guy can coach, develop, recruit. Probably the most complete college coach. If he had stayed to begin with it would be “ratface who?”. You hire pitino on a 3-5 year deal and turn the hiring for the next coach to him. He will bring in a protege that will be the next Donovan or even pitino. Forget the problems at UL with NIL pitino will keep it clean not to mention would be extremely motivated for a title. He cares about winning

We couldn't get Mark Few?
The guy is only making 1.8 million a year at Gonzaga.
(kind of puts in perspective the ridiculous amount we pay Calipari, doesn't it?)

I do not see anything about this on the KSR site. Was the info part of a podcast? Is someone just using Matt Jones name to start a conversation?

Donovan has turned down UK twice before. With Da Bulls doing so well don’t waste your time. I’d be fine at least reaching out to Stevens. But I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Matt Jones today said he had some knowledge of who Ky would target if CAL left today. The first 2 calls are to Brad Stevens and Billy Donavan. If neither was interested then Chris Holtmann would get the job. Thoughts? Does that change anyones opinion on getting rid of CAL.
How many time does Billy Donovan need to turn us down JFC.

Well I’m intrigued by that idea. According to google he only makes 3 mil per year

He makes a hell of alot more than that .

While I agree with rdf that he would be the grand slam home run hire when Cal retires, not going to happen.

1 Happy where he is at.
2 Makes stupid $ now.
3 It’s MIAMI !
4 Pat Riley is not stupid enough to let him get away.

When Stevens and Donovan hang up on you, you look at Pearl and Drew. If one of those don't work out, you call Oats, Muss, and maybe Beard.

We'd have to get turned down circa UK FB when they hired Rich Brooks to get down to Holtmann.
After Donovan and Stevens, I would look at Drew. (might sneak a call into Jay Wright... you never know)... Mussleman and possible Oats, although I'd like to see more of oats.. Same with Holtman.
