Mitch Barnfart has 45,000,000 reasons to regret getting bluffed into the biggest contract blunder in the history of college athletics.

Yeah John Calipari was going to go rebuild UCLA for less money a year, better sell UK Basketball's Soul to him.

Mitch Barnfart might be the dumbest prominent public figure named Mitch in the state, and that's saying something.

And my above comments are exactly why an otherwise top tier AD is now beginning to press his basketball coach, he's starting to feel heat too.

This is simply Squeaky Wheel >> Grease

Funny to watch this desperate spin folks are trying to give it. I heard no changes. No plans for changes. Just tell’em what they want to hear and keep on driving.

Cal meanwhile is selling the program to recruits exactly the same way. MB knows this. So does everyone else in a position of responsibility.

I've been thinking about this a lot, if Sharpe declares, there's a strong case to fire Calipari with cause.

Cycle through my recent posts if you're concerned your hero might depart 1 year early, if Cal is complicit in defrauding sponsors by putting forward a narrative about an early recruit playing next year, while being privy to inside information that Sharpe was eligible for the draft, then I don't see how that could not be behavior detrimental to the university and it's interests, because pissed off sponsors stop being sponsors.

Laugh. Who would bring that case? Sure as hell not KY. Sharpe doesn’t know what he’s going to do. Consequently Cal doesn’t know what he’s going to do. This very simple fact eliminates any possibility of fraud. Further, Cal would be lawyered up to the teeth. The cost would be tremendous to KY with a counter charge of deliberately trying to manufacture conditions to abort the contract. Bad legal JuJu. Further, Sharpe is not under any contract or obligation to play. Nor is his NIL binding in any way for him to play at U.K. This is expressly forbidden by the NCAA. Research Memphis and FedEx. Further, UK reviews all these deals to protect their brand and involved parties INCLUDING SHARPE AND THE STAFF.

I expect Cal’s attorney might start salivating over that scenario. This would be a bigger screw-up than the BCG napkin.

Get real.

Maybe Mitch will fire Cal and hire Sharpe to be the player/coach!!

Mitch said what needed to be said somewhat. While it was PC, it was his way of attempting to mollify the fans while simultaneously directing a pretty clear message to Cal.
What message to Cal? MB just translated Cal’s coach speak for all those clearly lacking the acumen to grasp it. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn Cal and MB collaborated on the content.

Let me give you the abridged version. Nothing is changing. Take a chill pill.

Barnhart should be the one fired, not Cal. Without Barney Cal would resign. That makes a clean sweep and would probably put a Kentucky man in the ADs chair.

The fans need to keep the pressure on. Anyone accepting these results is not a fan. Everyone should be held accountable for doing their job.
That’s how it works for everyday people, in everyday jobs. Cal and Mitch are no different.

I don't know the legality of any of this. Plus, I am not sure yet that the correct decision is to have Cal leave or get fired, whatever. However, this is based upon Sharpe. If he lives up to his word that his intent is to be here next season and that proves true, fine. If not, then Cal needs to go.

Despite some posters thinking that Cal is above reproach, It is NEVER a good thing when your boss has to apologize for your performance.
I like to hear this from Barny. Maybe he'll surprise me and have a dead ringer replacement for when Cal leaves. But I almost guarantee that he doesn't.

You HONESTLY do not think Sharpe & his handlers know what they are going to do?
They have directed this drama since day one & your hero, Cal played right along

Nope. Not till they get the feedback from NBA scouts.. There is something really obvious you are missing. They know something you don’t know.

At least it appears he recognizes there is some unrest within a pretty large portion of the fanbase . I don’t really think there is such a thing as dead ringer anymore . Duke , UNCheat, Arizona, and UCLA are big time basketball programs that recently made coaching hires and imo , none of them hired a dead ringer .

Might not like the results but I will never leave. Do you not see any problems with the program now?
So what if I did? You think I’m dumb enough to rip them in public? That’s not constructive and it takes an arrogant ******* to do that. Do you think your Internet presence is SO important that bitching out the Cats as some random anonymous collection of bits on a site known to be frequented by malcontents matters? If I have a problem I take it to someone that can actually address it. Dogs howl at the moon. Near as anyone can tell nothing changed as a result on the moon.

Cal and Mitch have never seen eye to eye and apparently were never close. Now from what I heard this morning on KSR it’s way worse. Like they do not like each other at all.
