First:

I hate Duke.

Second:

I keep seeing these threads and comments about K and Scheyer and Duke, and what if they win the title this year or what if they do well in the next few years.

Stop worrying about Duke. They are farther behind us than we are behind UCLA in titles. Even if they win the title this year, they'll still be behind us by 2.

Duke isn't the one who's about to catch us in all-time victories.

I have to ask again, WGAF about Duke?

We are Kentucky. We don't yap like puppies at ANYONE'S ankles.

I get it - you're mad about our lack of success lately. That's good! Channel that anger toward fixing OUR problem instead of embarrassing yourselves by being openly jelly on message boards about Duke.

Have some pride.

Know who we are.

Duke was good for a good bit, but we'll always be UK and WE are the ones best positioned to catch UCLA.

Not Duke.

Stop worrying about Duke. They are literally twice as far behind us as we are behind UCLA in titles. Even if they win the title this year, they'll still be behind us by 3.

Understand both takes. I agree you focus inward on what Kentucky needs to do to get better.

However, when a program controls the sport, it's a major concern. Bring this up and if you knew this, apologize, but many don't understand their grip on the sport right now. They have control of NBA (Silver), USA Basketball (Grant Hill), and flood the airwaves with their narrative be it CBS Sports Executive Sean McManus, Jay Bilas, Seth Davis, Jim Spanarkel, Jay Williams, Chris Spattola, and surely I'm leaving out a few others. When you have that type of control.....it sure doesn't hurt. Also doesn't make it any less sickening for fans who think there's something funny going on.

I did hate Duke but if it puts more pressure on Cal to get his act together or get fired, then I hope Duke wins, or UNC, or UCLA. I hope Kansas passes us on all time wins. I hope Cal just keeps dragging the program down if that’s what it takes to get him out of here. I hope Calipari does something to get UK on probation. That would guarantee him to leave. He left UMass and Memphis when they got in trouble with the NCAA. If that’s what it takes for him to leave then please let it happen.

I used to say this constantly OP. It falls on deaf ears on this board. The Zion year I essentially only posted on the football and baseball boards because it was so GD unbearable on here......literally 3/4 of the front page of threads would be Duke threads, 1/8 of the others would be about the NBA. That final 8th was actually about UK.

I understand it when newsworthy things happen with any program, especially the other blue bloodless we dislike, and that it's worth discussing.

But on here it's non stop whining and penis envy threads just aimlessly crying about Duke. It's obnoxious AF. We play once every three years. Frankly I don't give a **** about what Duke is doing unless it's the week of that game.

My only problem with Duke now is the fact that even with K retiring, they are STILL kicking Cal’s _ss on the recruiting trail. I thought the whole reason for Cal’s “Players First” BS was to attract the “Best of the best” to UK???

So, Duke is pushing their SCHOOL as the main reason to come there and Cal is pushing NBA Draft status and STILL getting his _ss handed to him by a first time HC.

This is my ONLY concern with Duke.

Yeah I get that totally. It's one of the main reasons I hate Duke. But as fans there's not much we can do about that, is there. And bitching about it constantly just makes us look like whiny jellies. Call attention to it and move on. I'm seeing a little slippage in our sense of self, is all I'm saying. We should shore that up and come at Duke from a posture of authority. I realize that's rather nuanced but I'm glad you pointed that out anyway.

Wishing probation on UK basketball is not something a real UK fan says. You need to try harder.

Not Duke.

Duke has 5 titles, not 4. '91, '92, '01, '10, '15. So if they won this year they'd have 6. Too close for comfort.

Yeah. Nothing wrong with seeing what they're doing right and emulating that. After all, that's what K did when he copied Cal's one and done strategy. But we should be focused on getting ourselves better and not on complaining all the time.

Well put and I agree--this thing is rattled in Lexington a bit and understand the confidence. What has me upset is the means of power seem to have sent the Cal type of players to the G-League (Green/Hardy/Todd) while Duke gets the cream of the leftovers. Now it changed with Sharpe/Wallace-that is a fantastic duo and type UK used to get--but we're to the point you hope one guy plays and if so, that will be fun to watch at least. Wallace is going to be fantastic and show fans what has been missing at guard spot for last 2 years.

Kentucky will be Kentucky, and the lulls suck but one thing that will help turn many against Duke is Coach K retiring. Some of the stuff that was celebrated won't be see "great" when his successor is doing it/benefitting from it.

All of my complaints are ENTIRELY on Cal and his BS. Duke kicking his rear in recruiting is just a small part of it.

I don’t like the coach or the people that defend him so yeah I’m actually laughing my arse off these past few seasons and as I type this. You Cal cultist deserve this. I don’t care if you think I’m a real UK fan or not. I don’t think a real UK fan would defend Calipari either. I’m just gonna sit back and watch the train wreck and laugh at the people that want to keep going the wrong direction on the track.

If duke wins they will have 3 in the calipari era. Two of which should have been Kentucky’s so I will always hate duke and want them to lose every game
geez, i hate this take..."shoulda been Kentucky's" UK couldn't get to the big game to actually win it....how do you figure they "shoulda been"???

Did you not watch 2015 Kentucky was the best team by a mile that year duke had a cake walk to the final four that year Kentucky lost to a team they shouldn’t have because of stall ball, so yes Kentucky should have won the championship they were the best team and 2010 was the best team that year too

People worry too much about the UCLA title chase...as I have said on other threads I think they still lead with 11 titles and no one will catch them in our lifetimes.
Well, since 1998 we're +3 on them.

You don't think we can go +3 on them again over the 20 years?

I don't see why not. UConn won 4 titles between 1999 and 2014. Duke won three between 1991 and 2001. Florida won back to back. Nova won two in three years. UConn won two in four years. UNC won three in 12 years.

I don't get your logic, unless you're an old, old man who only has a few years left.

Half of Kentuckys NC’s came between 1948 and 1958. Since 1990, Duke has been to 11 championship games, winning 5. Kentucky has been to 5, winning 3. I’d absolutely worry about Duke.

Sure fine. BBN should focus our anger at Cal and Barnhart so we can move on.
