Seriously. Not trying to put any kind of good spin on our loss today. Yet, if anyone thinks the selection committee was going to do us any favors by placing us as a number one seed ... all I can say is - best to get your hopes dashed right straight away this instant. Not going to happen. They never were going to reward Kentucky in the slightest for anything done in the SEC tournament.

The SEC tournament was solely brought back so as to get a team OTHER than Kentucky into the tournament. Hence, the league would LOVE to see A&M make it. Otherwise, the sec tournament means DICK for national seeding. It never has, it never will.

More than likely they drop us to a 3 seed and place us in a very difficult situation. Get ready for it. I'd suggest lots of lubricating oil.

We either come together and start playing a whole hellofa lot better or it's going to be a surprisingly short stay.

as for today, I'll take the extra day of rest for this group. They look beaten.

Go Big Blue

Not completely untrue, but every one of our final four teams I can think of at least made it to the SEC championship game. So if nothing else you can use that as a predictor, and the prediction based on this performance is not good.

Win the SEC tournament or at least make the title game, and yeah we probably get a 1 seed. Look at the percentages to win a title as a 1 over as a 2 seed. It's pretty staggering. But yeah, nothing matters.

Even if the screw UK job was on (which I dont think it was), this is March.

While I’m still very optimistic about this team and the tournament I’m sorry there’s just no way to spin this in my book.

Wins and losses in November and December don’t matter, now SEC tournament games in March don’t even matter. Then when we lose in the tournament “well the tournament is just a crapshoot!”, none of it matters anymore.

Well. To be honest tho we can still achieve the same thing from the 2 line.

what matters in these upcoming games isn’t the actual seeding but rather playing like a 1 seed.

I’m not going to make excuse but some of our losses turn into wins if guys didn’t go down. I get it. You have to deal with it whatever. But for a large portion of the year this team played like a 1. And if we remain doing that we’ll be a tough out.

we are going to be a 2 seed and perhaps favored in Vegas over our potential 1

I can understand how people felt like THIS YEAR, it would have made a difference. Maybe, maybe not. And this isn't spinning it, like I said.

It just amazes me how every year it never made a difference, but THIS YEAR, it was going to be different.

People need to wake up and understand it makes no difference. It never had. If it did, seeding would have been affected in past SEC tournaments. They never did.

And for those still in denial, there's always the hopes that NEXT YEAR, it might make a difference. I'd love to see someone provide some evidence where the SEC tournament ever made a difference.

If we don't start playing better doubt we make it past the sweet 16 anyway.

The Sunday result doesn’t matter so much as actually making it to Sunday. It might not matter as much if you win the SEC tournament, but your performance in it does matter. Winning today would have made a difference.

We haven’t won any hardware in 4 seasons. That matters. Spin it all you want. UK no longer owns the SEC.

1 seeds aren’t a predictor of championship teams, championship teams are a predictor of 1 seeds. 1 seeds win it the most because they’re simply the best teams, not because they were given a 1 seed. There’s no difference between being the worst 1 seed or the best 2 seed from a championship chances point of view.

I think we’ll see much better come Thursday. Literally the one thing that killed us today was shooting.

We took care of the ball
We got our normal tons of offensive boards despite Oscar missing significant time.
we even got to the line.

I highly doubt we see a shooting performance that poorly again. Hopefully we got that one out of our system.

That’s ridiculous. You literally play better teams every step.

I’ll be willing to bet that when we lose, it will look just like that. Because that’s what it looks like every year. A team locks us up and we have no offense to fall back on. We start jacking and missing shots.

exactly.

There was 15 title games today I believe. And about 10 semifinals for the games Sunday.

wether Sunday counts or not we know Saturday does.

I mean you aren’t wrong. The real concern is the way we’ve played the last month. This team as regressed and there’s no denying it.

If you don't think they would have gotten a number 1 seed by winning the SEC, I don't think you know much about college ball.

If the difference between playing a 7 seed vs an 8 seed or 3 vs 4 boots you from the tourney early you weren’t good enough to win it all anyway.
Again, that’s ridiculous. Every round you play a better team. It’s so stupid I can’t believe you said it. Then even more stupid to defend it. Just say you didn’t think it through and move on with your life.

This year we have the 3rd best offense in the country tho.

Actually I feel the opposite way. I feel if we get bounced early it will be on defense. Some team will go insane from 3 and we’ll get bounced that way.

Maybe, but I’ll go with history and every Cal loss In The tourney, save the UNC game, has been us missing bad shots while the other team gets easy looks. Just like today.

People keep talking about regression but failing to mention most of that has been on D.
Exactly.....Every time I see an opponent blow past our defender and go in for a layup, I always say, would a zone have stopped that?
Will never ever, ever, ever change.
And that is why I believe Cal will never, ever, ever win a Natty again.

They could give us the top seed in the draw and we'd still flame out.

This team is VERY FLAWED.

So, now Cal has programmed our fans into just disregarding another thing that used to be valued by our program, winning the SEC Tournament. I LOVE when we win it!! I also LOVE when we win the regular season title. Cal has belittled so many aspects of the program that used to be revered by all of us.

So, since we haven't won the SEC regular season or Tournament Title, the NCAA Tournament is what Cal REALLY is all about. Does this mean if we don't make the Final 4 with the National Player of the Year, it's a failure?

I say MOST CERTAINLY!!!

The defense kinda fell apart when Wheeler and Tyty were injured and it never fully recovered.

one thing I did like today is when we were down 2nd half we kinda went into desperate mode and we forced them into some turnovers.

it’s never been a huge part of Cals defenses but I feel like with guys like Tyty and Wheeler we could force teams into turnovers. Which in turn would definitely up tempo the offense to where we like.

These guys always need to play in desperate mode, simply not talented enough to coast. We should play like our hair is on fire for 40 minutes a game.
