Whenever someone mentions any announcer or commentator on here, people are quick to jump in and announce how much they hate them. While we still have time before the SEC Tourney matters (when UK plays), who is an announcer you actually like? I'll go first: Bill Raftery. I've never felt a perceived bias. He's uber-smart, funny, entertaining and you can tell this man loves his job. And the stories told of him, post game, closing down a bar somewhere are legendary.

I loved Gus Johnson but so seldom get to hear him anymore since he is on Fox. Raftery is great. Honestly there aren't really any I dislike. I generally zone them out anyway.

Raftery is a big time UK hater and Duke advocate. He’s a huge coach K guy.

I don’t care how he sounds calling games, can’t get rid of him fast enough for me.

Dicky V (Only ESPN announcer I can stand other than Dykes)
Bill Raftery
Jim Nance
Tom Hart
Gus Johnson
Ian Eagle
Jimmy Dykes - Overall ok. Used to be an assistant here. He knows his stuff. Can be highly critical of UK at times.

ESPN announcers too busy foaming at the mouth over Duke and K

F that dude. For real?
Yep, I always liked his perspective when he used to do games, I also liked Bobby Knight when he used to do them too, and it has nothing to do with their background or which teams they were previously associated with.

Bill Walton is the one that I absolutely can't stand.

Lots have already said mine.

Gus Johnson for sure. Like Ian Eagle and Kevin Harlan. Always have like Jimmy Dukes too.

Least favorite is Walton by far.
I think you have to be on acid to understand and like Walton. I still don’t know how he has a job. He says some off the wall stuff and you would think the studio would be like, “nope”.

Nobody giving Greenberg love or is this strictly people doing games?

Who’s that northern dude that played for an SEC team. He’s done. Lot of our games. Name is escaping me.

He has the strong Massachusetts (Northeastern) accent and played for Arkansas.
Yea. Thank you. Arkansas. Yes. Thank you. I like him. Normally I can’t stand that accent but for some strange reason. Ha.

He’s knowledgeable and can articulate well I think.

I like him too and I also don't care for the accent, but he does know the game. As you mentioned he is very articulate, and in my opinion he also does a great job of remaining neutral even when he is doing an Arkansas game.

Jon Sunvold is the best analyst by a long ways for me. Speaks from a players perspective. He's not only knowledgeable but he doesn't have an agenda. Really good and having played some ball myself I find him saying what I'm thinking a lot.

Johnson and Raftery probably for NCAA games.

How I wish Hubie Brown did NCAA games. He's tremendous. I know he's 88 years old, but he's leaps and bounds better than anybody else.
Good call. Hubie is the GOAT of basketball color analysts, IMO. All of my favorites are retired or closing in on retirement. I do like Ian Eagle & Kevin Harlan as PBP guys but the current top announcers pale in comparison to the batch we had from the late 70s-2010s. JMO. And, Gus Johnson definitely makes games more exciting but I think he overdoes it quite a bit. I like him but he can be a little much, sometimes.

I usually don't pay too much attention to the announcers. They don't bother me like they do many here. The only exception was that guy on CBS the other day that had the high pitched and whiny brooklyn accent. I found him annoying. LOL
