What’s with this latest fad of players (and now coaches) removing their jerseys and shirts after an exciting win? Saw it after the UTC win over Furman tonight.

Seems to have started with European soccer and bled over into American basketball. Frankly, I struggle to understand why this seems to be the new way to celebrate. The first thing they think of is to disrobe?

I don’t get it.

Things change man, this the way they do it. It will never make sense to you which is how it's worked since the beginning of time.
I’m all for change and am very adaptable. But I can’t wrap my head around this method of celebration. I don’t really care that they do it. Just curious on others’ thoughts on this odd way to party.

Agree it’s a kinda silly thing to do IMO.

Heat of the moment and all that I suppose. I just think disrobing would be the last thing on your mind in that moment. Pulling Jersey out, popping it etc—that I get.

But, I don’t really care either—maybe I’m just getting old.

No one complained when Brandi Chastain did it
Really? I don’t see anything much to be excited about. Looks like a teenage boy from California.

It started with soccer players exchanging jerseys. College players need to keep their clothes on.

I don’t really care what the players do, but the coaches disrobing is just weird and cringe-worthy. Like when Musselman did it after the Auburn win. Dude you are a grown *** man being paid millions of dollars. Act like it.

Of course, it was kind of karmic since sweaty Bruce used to do the same thing when he was at UT.

Well, I can all but promise you we'll see at least a half dozen instances of it before Sunday afternoon rolls around. And probably a few more next week.
It's a fad and like any fad, it gets overdone very, very quickly.

Grandpa? My kids are 8, 10, and 15, so I certainly hope I’m not a grandpa.
Tbf this has been going on for a while. It’s been going on in Soccer, not just European for ages.

Happens a lot in hockey too. And has been for some time.

I think it probably originated by someone who was just hot after a game and took off his/her gear to cool off while celebrating and it stuck. I’m not sure why you’re so sensitive about the players doing it. Doesn’t make sense for the coaches, I agree.

Yeah, that’s the line for me minus a national title. you win the whole enchilada then have at it.

But yeah, coaches need to keep their clothes on. I found that weird too. Specially for a regular game.

Im fine when students get excited. It’s whatever. Have fun. But coachess doing that? Weird.

Wave a towel? Throw a watch. But keep your shirts on coaches.

What do you expect from coaches anymore most of them nowadays dress like they’re running out to get a sandwich.

They all copied each other and started looking like a bunch of washed up mafia guys on a street corner. So it’s no surprise that they’re all copying each other with this behavior as well

This is why I’m glad Cal switched back to suits. I know it doesn’t ultimately matter, as great coaches could coach in a bathrobe, but dang. It looks so much better. Brings respect to the game.

They either need to take it all off or none of it, if it all goes they will never do it again and never live it down and pay one hell of a fine and likely be done. If they take none of it off, back to normal again.

Of the top one million things that concern me, this is ….not on the list.
Me neither. It was more of an observation that I thought would garner some funny convo. But there's always the ones that come in here looking to poke around and create conflict...

Well...I like gettin' naked myself before a big "celebration".
