And what was said in that meeting with his parents is something No One Knows but I know how basketball works. If you are a 100% healthy, eligible to play and not playing is because you can't beat the people out that are. Have you even seen Sharpe play? Go watch highlights. He is not ready to play against SEC teams.
Next year he will hopefully. Personally I think Cason Wallace will be a better college player
I tend to think you could be right about Wallace. But, I wouldn't be confident one way or the other. Wallace has the TyTy Washington vibe to me in the sense that he seems to play at his own pace, stays calm and doesn't try to do too much. But to be fair, watching Sharpe in high school I thought he did a pretty good job of staying within himself too. With the athleticism Sharpe wows more, but Wallace may be better at making winning plays. Still if Sharpe did return, he would have a half-season getting acclimated to UK (practice, the way they play, what's expected, etc.). And although I think it would have been better to get him game experience this year when they could afford to, that time is still very valuable I think.

Well … a projected top 10 pick in the draft has also never returned to school under Cal. So no matter which direction this goes, it’ll be something that has never happened before.

I’m not being negative. I’m being realistic. I’ll bet you a coke he never plays a game here.
You got it, a coke it is.

I don't bet on KY but I did when I was 11 years old watching my first NCAA Tournament game in person. A Michigan State fan was sitting beside me and he wanted to bet me a Hot Dog on the game. I did.
It was Mideast Regional Final in 1978 against Magic Johnson.
Won me a hot dog

Great Points. First, the one thing we went through last year with playing Askew and Boston, it was clearly obvious he was giving them minutes to develop them. There was a lot of anger over that. Oscar came in and did what Sharpe is going to do. Oscar set out (not by choice) We all see how that turned out. I would bet that conversation is a very big reason that made Sharpe enroll early.
I truly hope Sharpe plays next year but I totally believe he will declare and go through the process. I say he comes back.
I do believe Sharpe will be the better pro but not in college, Wallace is Briscoe that can shoot and not step out of bounds 3 times a game

For most it is somewhere between final four to elite eight..which makes sense
Agreed and, IMHO, the most logical opinion based on our skill level, the random upsets that always occur, how healthy we, as well as our opponents are, WHO our opponents are and how well we match up with them, etc, etc, etc.

I could see this team being upset by a lower seed, particularly if they have at least one quick, athletic big which they would inevitably use to pull Oscar out away from the basket, and of course use him to drive on Oscar.

On the other hand I can see this team making the FF, as well as going so far as cutting down the nets. UK HAS the talent to be a champion and we have a coach who has been there and won one.

We've all seen just how damn good this team can be when fully healthy, and THAT team is the one that has to show up every game determined to win, and they will.

And despite anything Cal has or hasn't said, a second title would go a long way in taking any heat he may have felt from a segment of the fan base, and it would put him in even more rarefied air of having two titles. You KNOW he wants it, and this team certainly has the ability to give it to him.

Oh yeah, I think Sharpe will be the better pro too. A better player at the next level than any of our current Guards as well (and, of course, maybe only Washington has much of a Pro career). But so what (that's rhetorical, not directed at you)? My interest is in a player's effect right now on UK's chances of winning. I wish him the best - especially if he plays for UK next season - but what Sharpe becomes in 3 years or so is not important to me. I'm not really concerned with future potential (unless it's in regard to UK players expected to return the next season).

If I recall correctly, Michael Jordan was an ok player for UNC as a freshman - and really good in comparison to other freshman - but he wasn't even in the conversation for best 2G/SF in college that year. For the 1981-82 college season, would you have rather had an OAD freshman Michael Jordan or a transfer portal senior Sleepy Floyd/Quintin Dailey/Dale Ellis/Terry Teagle/Ricky Pierce/etc.? I figure me, you, and most UK fans want players at UK who are in the conversation for best players at their positions while in college, not the guy who simply has the most pro potential.

We live in a world where real people believe that Sharpe - who is a projected top 5-7 pick and a projected future max contact player - isn't playing over Allen because he's not good enough right now?
