This season for the most part has been a lot of fun. Dunking on Kansas and UNC. Popping UT at home. That Alabama win at home was one of the more impressive wins of the season. This last week and half has taken some wind out of the sails for me. March is a crapshoot. As long as they don’t look like a bunch of dead dogs and go down to some team they shouldn’t in the tournament, I’ll call the season a success.

The season has already been a success. We got to know some remarkable young men. They gave the program everything they had.

The North Carolina game was thrilling. Drilling Kansas at Phog was a once-a-decade moment. The Tennessee beat down was a thing of beauty.

I’m satisfied. I hope for some post-season glory, but this year has been fun.

This. If we lose a hard-fought game to a team like Gonzaga in the Elite 8 (won’t get paired with them but still) I won’t be upset given how fun this team has been. Obviously disappointed if we don’t make the final four but not angry or upset. Tournament is a crapshoot and even the odds-on favorite probably only has a 20-25% chance to win it at best.

If we pull a 2018 and lose to a team like KSU that we are way better than, I will be pissed.

I'm greedy.

Share of SEC regular season title (#50!!!).

SECT Champs.

Final Four minimum, losing to a team not named Duke, Gonzaga or an SEC team (maybe Baylor, Nova, who knows, but not Puke or an SEC team).

I think you'd be "satisfied" if UK never won another championship. Just being along for the ride is enough for you.

I usually say elite eight is the standard for any successful season at Kentucky. But I can’t lie, I love this group, and it would gut me if we didn’t at least make the final four.
This^^^^^^
Oscar is literally a once in a lifetime player.
Mintz and Grady are great ambassadors for UK.
Our 2 headed monster at PG is uber rare as well.
Final Four for me too…at least.

Here's some context:

There've been 36 tournaments in the 64+ team era (2 we were on probation, so 34 seasons we were eligible). We've been to an elite 8 in 17 of them. Half the years we weren't on probation, we have made an elite-8. We've been to a sweet 16 in 21 of them. This lines up with what my gut feeling was, which was that a sweet 16 is the minimum for being "not disappointing" but not a notable success. An elite 8 is better than average. We've been to 8 Final Fours in that timespan, winning 3 titles. Final Four is success. A title is, obviously, the greatest success. So, no I wouldn't consider a team with true Final Four potential like this one to have "succeeded" if they lose in a regional final. They wouldn't have "failed" either, they'd have basically sat in between at "had an above average season, had an above average tournament."

Assuming we stay fully healthy, less than the E8 would be depressing. No reason we should lose to a 7 or 10 in the second round and I like us against any 3 seed on a natural floor.
So, are you saying you wouldn’t like our chances against a 3 seed on an ‘un-natural’ floor ? Sorry. I just had to say that 🤣.

This season has been the most enjoyable one for me of any season since 2015 (Though the Monk/Fox/Bam team was close).

Like many UK fans, my life-long fandom was "broken" by the ending of 2015. The 2017 team was great but it was still so close to the hangover from 2015 to really enjoy it (to a lesser degree, the 2019 elite eight team was the same). After the insane excitement and success of the first half decade of the Cal era, we were all drunk off the success, which culminated in the best first-38-games season of my lifetime ending as a "failure" and MEGA disappointment. It was impossible to get hyped for lesser teams in the following years.

In some way, perhaps last year's debacle was a palate cleanser of sorts? After hitting rock bottom, it's been much more enjoyable to watch this solid team all season. More than any other year before 2010, it feels like the first couple decades of my life as a fan: we have a good team, we have likable veteran players, we're (probably?) not going to win it all (bc winning it all is VERY hard to do), but we have a team that's capable of doing it and it's fun to watch and root for them to see if it happens.

It really helps that we have the NPOY and a new all-time top 3 favorite player for me (along with Anderson and MKG) who it's impossible to not root for.

So....... I would largely say that this season has already been a success. But. A final four (or championship 🤞) would go a LOOOOOOOOOONG way toward injecting some excitement and satisfaction into this fanbase, myself included.

SECT title and Sweet Sixteen is a successful season.

SECT loss plus elite 8 is a success too.

We're not playing like a final four team right now.
We dont really have defensive idenity.
Then theres coaching..
Cal"s history shows he's prone to the upset by a less talented team
When he wins, he always has the "Jimmy's and Joe's", and this team is good but not 10, 12 or 15 good. I would probably take the 11 team and the 17 teams ahead of this one simply for the star power in a tourney situation.
This team and 18 is a toss up to me thats why i would go with EE as realistic success.

I’m here.

Elite 8 would be gratifying
Final Four I’d be ecstatic
Obviously a Natty is self explanatory, but pinning hopes on that is setting oneself up for supreme disappointment. It’s a very challenging task and plenty of randomness in the NCAAT.

It would be sweet to go to Tampa and claim victory. The SEC is a brute and I’d love some payback along the way. If we do that, I’ll be as confident as ever going into tourney.

You have a 100 favorite teams so the odds are in your favor.

Also no one on here plays for Jack.
Good thing the Cats play for championships Cause none of his other hundred teams do. How bout them Cornhuskers tonight? Suckeys go down to the basketball powerhouse Nebraska.

Final Four. I know that might seem too demanding but we really need to get back. Losing before then won’t mean it wasn’t an enjoyable season, but it would be disappointing. What I really don’t want to see is us losing to a team that has no business beating us like K State or Auburn did recently.
