pickle ball is fun as hell and it keeps you moving.
Similarly, racquetball is tough. When I was between jobs a few years ago, I met a partner of the largest local firm at a bar meeting. He invited me to play. Whatever, the dude's almost 80; I'll take it easy on him. I knew the rules and played a little at the Johnson Center back in the day. It'll be fine.

We played doubles with myself and two of his peers (old guys). I got absolutely destroyed. One of the most embarrassing moments of my modest athletic career. I don't work at that firm, btw.

Booking flights/hotels is a pretty simple adult skillset I just don’t have. Booking flights just annoys me and the reviews and **** on hotels leave me feeling befuddled and inadequate.

Like one dude says it’s the best place he ever stayed then the next one claims cockroaches, bloody sheets and Stu F’ing Jamison is working the front desk.

Meanwhile, my wife won’t buy a toothbrush without reading all the reviews.

My family and I stayed at a Sheraton in downtown Charleston, WV this summer that had blood stains on the curtains and some dude with giant *** mean Dobermans in the lobby. They gave me a "suite" and my daughter slept on the couch in the other room. I didn't want to touch that couch without a hazmat suit and felt we had a non-zero chance of being murdered in our sleep. But the next day my daughter said "it was her favorite hotel ever". My point is reviews are worthless.

My wife and I decide on travel dates and a budget. After that, she handles the rest. She also used to professionally set up travel for doctors going on continuing medical education boondoggles, so she knows what she's doing.

If I had to handle travel accommodations, I wouldn't go anywhere I couldn't drive and would stay in campgrounds.

Prior to her, I once took a Chinese bus from Lexington to NYC for $100. The bus left at midnight from the boot store on New Circle Road. There were old Chinese ladies feeding babies while smoking and all manner of chicanery. My buddy and I polished off a fifth of Beam or something and zoned out. Couch surfed for a week and caught the bus back to Lexington.

Good times. I wonder if that bus still exists.

The worst Hotel I stayed at was in Havana, Cuba:

Hotel Triton Neptuno
Havana, Cuba

My Canadian travel agency went out of business while I was in Cuba in 2001 and they failed to confirm our return flight Sonee were given a taxi and hotel voucher.

It was bad to begin with and while we were eating breakfast the next morning, we got a hot tip on a flight back to North America. We rushed upstairs to find our floor (and some of our stuff) had flooded from bad Cuban plumbing just before we had to rush to the airport.

I’m going to remember this first half when UVA slips into an at large. 25 points- 18 of them coming from one guy hitting threes. So the rest of the team/rest of the floor accounts for 7 points in 20 minutes of basketball. The ACC is awful.

I’ll second the Sheraton @wcc31. Yeah, it’s gonna run you more $$, but it’s worth every penny to have somewhere clean on Bourbon go take a piss when you need to, and to have an easily accessible beer stash in the room.

The pandemic was really something else from a flight standpoint. I flew a lot, and most of what I booked on Frontier/Spirit was in the neighborhood of $60 round trip. I'll take every gamble I can get at that price point. And for the record, most of those flights were empty. Like, each person had their own row and the one in front/behind them. I miss the days of government shutdowns and massive death, to be honest.
