Not about that. Is he playing in practice? He could get as injured there as he could in a game. If you are a lottery pick without playing and you believe in yourself at all there has to be a belief that playing will only help.

You can’t be that caliber and be that scared of some bad games, if so you know you aren’t that caliber.

And I can promise you, while I’ll never be in that position I’d certainly be pushing my son to play no matter what. Sure the worst case injury can happen, but damn you can’t be that scared.

If I was a GM there is not a chance in hell I’d select this kid at all. But I’m not.

Had two uncles with dairy farms. My cousin and I were only two days apart, so I spent two months every summer there. We were told to bring up this cow and her calf, calf was lagging behind so I barely popped it with a tobacco stick. Momma cow put me in a wet, soupy cattle pond.
Not only did cow not get killed, it was applauded by cousin and uncle for throwing around the city kid.

Presuming you can still purchase a waterbed? It seems like anyone who was cool in the 80’s had one. I recall them being really comfortable. Probably a pain in the *** from a maintenance standpoint. I may look into this further as I aimlessly wander the internet tonight.

See my favorite is still when you fell off the ladder and seriously hurt yourself.
Can't forget the USS Dick Pipe, imo.

* Bob Saget get murdered or nah?

* We went on a quick vacation and I decided I'd take a covid test to see if I could milk some quarantine days out of it before I have to be anywhere. When I opened the box of tests the government sent me, a Qualification Certificate from Zheijiang Orient Gene Biotech Co. LTD fell out of the box.

What a joke -- our federal tax dollars bought covid tests from the same country that started this mess to send to our citizens.

* Hopefully this will get Waterhead Wayne to stfu about it.

Shorts:

- Kind of amazing to me how little ESPN/SportsCenter are a part of my life now. SC used to be on all the time at my house. I’m sure that’s partly because of marriage/parenting now but even now when I do turn it on, I’m not into it. Sometime around the Favre, Tebow, Sam, etc BS, they started to lose me.

- Love them Baylor golds. Speaking of, the SEC’s uniform color scheme diversity leaves a lot to be desired. Really comes down to way too much maroon/crimson.

- Many of wife’s college friends are New Englanders who are into hockey. Enjoy seeing pics/vid of them playing on frozen ponds in the winter like we would play pickup hoops.

- Also, they have this inseason college hockey tournament every year called the Bean Pot, where Boston College, Harvard, Northeastern and Boston U play. Apparently, it’s a pretty big party and very heated. I’m sure @wildcat1973 can provide some insight.

- That Ray LeMontagne can sure paint a picture.

- I love movies and they’re fairly routine conversation amongst me and many of my friends, but I can’t say I have one friend who gives a **** about The Oscars- the history, who won, etc.

- I’ve always been a sucker for Kanye. Love his music. Enjoy some of the eccentric genius stuff. This documentary is great so far. You can see in real time a dude hellbent to be great getting there. And “Through the Wire” may be the best hiphop song of the millennium.

- There’s always pressure at Kentucky but some years are even my pressure-filled. This season isn’t ‘78/‘96/‘12 level, but it’s pretty high up there. BBN is hungry. We need a Final 4 run at minimum.

- I’m way too big of puss to be a farmer or a doctor.

- @KingLlama you should take your daughter up to Oxford to visit Miami (OH). May not be her vibe as a southern girl but it’s a charming campus for sure, and close enough for a Girl Dad.

- Big game Saturday. It’s just been a gauntlet, and still some biggies left. For the talk of a soft schedule early, this is turning into one of the tougher schedules we’ve faced in my life. Landmines everywhere. Compare that to the ******** Auburn and Gonzaga are seeing.

- I want the one seed for pride’s sake but a two away from Gonzaga is perfectly fine.

I don't think this year feels like a high amount of pressure. I would spread out that pressure over the next 3 year span. Cal is getting the studs again and i think casual fan will be pleasantly surprised just how good we will be. Like 12 good maybe next year and the year after. While this team is capable of a FF and even winning it all, im not feeling that pressure because i knows what's coming.

We're on year 7 of a Final Four drought and coming off the worst finish to a season in program history. Folks are chomping at the bit.

Add to the mix this team is about as easy to root for from a player personnel / roster makeup as we've had under Cal and you want it as much for them as us.

And while 9/10 times deserve ain't got nothing to do with it, the fans, program and these players deserve a trip to the Superdome.

*A couple of weeks ago I came out of the courthouse to 3 or 4 cops and an ambulance surrounding my vehicle. Apparently while I was in there, a lady driving an ambulance clipped my car and f*cked it up. No big deal, got it fixed, picked it up Friday.

Last night I was driving my daughter home from dance, and absolutely smoked a coyote. So, back in the shop it goes.

I mean, it’s fine, that’s what insurance is for, but it is a bit annoying.

*Health scare in our family yesterday. My FIL wakes up a 4 in the morning with severe chest pain and very high blood pressure. MIL takes him to the ER and he’s having a heart attack. They ended up putting a stent in and he’s fine, but we were pretty worried for a bit. Not much sucks worse than health scares.

*Not concerned about the UT loss. As BBdK said, most every good team takes one on the chin on the road, and Tuesday was our turn. If we stay fully healthy (a huge if) we are going to be an extremely difficult out. I’m extremely pumped to be back in the tournament with a good seed. Seems like it’s been forever.

*Any scuttlebutt on Coen’s replacement, assuming he is for sure gone?

*F*ck winter. Hate everything about it. If I got to choose I’d take snow on Christmas Eve and day, and then 70+ the rest of the year.

*DefiantL’s Twitter is pretty damn funny. No matter the party, I’m always a fan of exposing hypocrisy. If you guys weren’t too stupid and old to navigate Reddit, you’d likely enjoy r/leopardsatemyface. Same deal, exposing public hypocrisy.

*Lol at the LBF springing Quintez Brown. Didn't his lawyer just say he may be nuts? Maybe get that figured out before letting him go.

*Speaking of, I don't think I could vote for Greenberg. Not because he's a Democrat. Not because he's a Jew. It's 100% because he reminds me of Air Spyros in Billions.

*Looks like there's an escalation in the Ukraine this morning.

*Will UL win another game this year? I sincerely hope they do not.

- Chad, I've definitely heard good things about the place. But she locked in on a list of 18 (18!!) different schools that she'd like to go see, and every time I suggest checking out a new one, she flinches. She does have a good mix (in-state vs. out-of-state, small school vs. large school, public vs. private, etc.), but I think she's missing out on some gems. Oh well.

- Really looking forward to the Ian O'Connor book on Coach K. The fact that K didn't participate tells me that it won't be a glowing propaganda piece. And the fact that there's already a leaked blurb about K/Duke disagreeing on his replacement confirms that it'll be a fascinating read.

- I feel sad for that Russian figure skater. Can't imagine how much pressure and internal turmoil she's been under as a 15-year-old kid, with them feeding her whatever cocktail of drugs they thought would give her the edge (which she didn't need, because she's already the best without it). Makes perfect sense that she crumbled during the big one today. Feel bad for her, but it serves the Russians right.

- More enigmatic team...Alabama? Or Illinois?

- I know nobody cares about collegebaseballsucka, but with MLB postponed, it's a nice little diversion. Would love to see Kentucky turn it around, but it sure seems like they've been passed by everyone else in the SEC.

- When do you all make time to read? I read a bit in the morning, but after work it's family time, then as soon as they're in bed, I always find some hoops worth watching, then by the time I go to bed, I'm too tired to read. I have a ton of good books on my list, but I check them out of the library, let them sit, then return them a few weeks later.

SportsCenter was the coolest during my middle school years (early/mid 90s). We would come in to the gym first thing in the morning all rehashing the highlights of whatever game, quoting Craig Kilborn or Keith Olbermann or Dan Patrick. Damn good memories (/MattsCats). I don't know what tanked it. Probably the steroid era, the ramping up of NFL offseason talk, or Neil Everett.

I was anti-cologne between high school and about a couple years ago. Wife and I randomly were smelling different scents at some department store and she went bonkers over Prada Black. Now I wear a tiny spritz for the occasional date night. Always a pleasant switch up.

Defiant Ls has some decently funny/good ones, but I'm pretty much 100% completely turned off by anything hardcore partisan, nowadays. Seems like if they worked both sides of that, folks would eat it up. Might even do some good. I'm just a loony center wing fundamentalist though.

I might crack open a good bottle if Coen makes a lame Let's Run it Back video.

This is random but here goes….please help Unmask our children. Call and tell your senator to vote yes to KY HB 51. 1-800-372-7181. Takes 2 minutes. Bill would make wearing face masks optional in schools. The bill would also give parents the ability to opt-out of daycare mask requirements.
Vote is happening later today. Still time to make that call for the kids 😁. Appreciate you all putting up with me!

That K book hilariously reports that Duke checks the checking accounts of recruits families to make sure there is no impropriety so I’m going to call ******** on the entire book. I wouldn’t wipe my *** with it.

Did K and his minions check the checking account of Zion’s parents when they all of sudden got moved into a $950,000 pad in an elite Durham neighborhood?

Of course they didn’t. Their hands were clean while someone else did the dirty.

I’ll give K credit, he knew he was totally bullet proof so Marcus be brazen about the cheating at the time.

-The Coen news keeps shifting back and forth. Losing your OC to the Super Bowl Champ LA Rams isn't one to really be concerned with. Hell, that's probably a damn good thing. Recruits, especially the side of the ball we need, will notice that ****. Plus, whatever he's doing is/has been in the works so he could help find the right replacement. However, if he stays? His name is now the hottest OC in the country. FHOFHCMS is in a pretty good position there.

-Defiant is hilarious and from Louisville. I thought he started that account as a pissed UL fan and it morphed into one of the more clever accounts on the tweeter. Also, I believe the far left nut jobs canceled funny. ((I'm kidding, NLC) kinda))

-Were not going to reddit, chase. FFS.

-Call me crazy, but a possibly mentally ill assassin being eligible for bail is 1000x less concerning than a heavily Government supported group backing said assassin. That's bananas. Especially since it was a democrat candidate. Good Lord.

-Ran out of whole bean coffee the other day so used some old ground that I hadn't thrown out. 🤮 Tasted like burnt hotel conference room swill. Fresh ground is the only way.

-Tougher, Free climbing El Capitan or getting a 6 year old out the door for school each morning?

-I just trust this team. They've responded all year. Think we see another good little run heading into SECT. Get Washington healthy and let's effing go. He just makes everything go and I feel like his game translates to the NCAAT better than most freshmen.

-I'm now at the "doing mobility work" point of life. So that's neat. 25 year old Anth is in the multiverse calling me a *****.

-CDC loosening masking but digging in on school masking. Awesome. Great work, folks. "Hey, 65 year fatass with type 2, you're clear to drop the respirator but healthy 3 year old you need to wear a cloth mask 8 hours a day." Pure Evil.
