Stingray....love him or hate him?

I've been in the anti-Stingray camp from the beginning. He's a doofus and he's a Bammer. He's embarrassing and not a fitting representation of State or MS.

However, when I saw him walking behind the team at the Dawg Walk and I saw his reaction to the attention he was getting.....everything changed for me.

It's obvious that his "Stingray" persona is the best thing he has going in his life. I looked at my beautiful wife and kids and decided that I will not be the guy who makes fun of the special kid.

So knock yourself out Stingray.....perpetuate negative stereotypes, include creepy family pictures in your videos, revel in your role as the MSU version of Phyllis on Finebaum.

Cue the heartless bastards.

That post is kinda insulting when you use the word "special" when he's got a college degree. I don't know special needs people with degrees, but I could be wrong. He's goofy, but don't need to call him special. I like him. He pours his heart out for MSU. He's not a Bammer in the sense that most "Bammers" are. He's not a douche. He's nice. He DGAFOS and he doesn't deserve to be made fun of. He reads this board too, so be nice.

I really feel bad for the guy, he isn't stupid, so therefor he has to realize that people are laughing at him, not with him.

Everyone that contributes to that show knows their role is to make themselves look foolish in the name of attention and entertainment. Stingray, Phyllis, all of them know the score.

I know you don't care about my opinion (and clearly wish me to hell), but I agree. Stingray loves MSU and is very passionate. Sure, he comes off goofy, but he more of a true fan than a majority of both our fan bases. No, I'm not saying you have to make goofy youtube clips each week and make an *** of yourself. But from what I've heard about him, he is a good guy.

MSU buddy of mine took a picture with him last week and sent it to me. He said Stingray was very nice and appeared to be very knowledgeable. Basically, "Stingray" didn't strike him as the persona he gives off.

He's mehhh. I definitely don't hate him, but I wish he was a "stronger" character on Finebaum. He's too nice and genuine. We need a fire breathing meth head from Kemper county drilling Finebaum.

He was on finebaum last week in Tuscaloosa and wasn't doing his stingray act. Normal guy. Paul seemed taken aback and confused by the normal guy sitting next to him and seemed like he didn't know what to do. It was pretty awkward. I'm ok with the dude. At least it's not a delusional, condom selling, tranny 17ing, sociopath that people associate with our fan base

People laughed at Jerry Seinfeld for a few years too. I think that is their intention. Hell, He is probably the third most recognized person associated with M State football after Dak and Dan.

Ummm...we ring cowbells at our games. I sort of think the "Stingrays" of the world fit nicely.

Sorry to have offended you. No need to cry about it, just giving an opinion, one that differed from yours.

I know one thing, he makes State look more redneck than it really is. Glad he is a fan and all, but when people see and hear SR talk they probably think, yeah that's exactly how I imagined Mississippi folks would act. I am embarrassed for him every time he does a video. Like I said, glad he's a fan, but they shouldn't give a guy like that the spotlight so he can embarrass our University. Just my opinion.

Uh guys ... He does represent and resemble a fair portion of our fan base. How many here bring a cowbell to the games and ring it non stop for 2 hours, shouting "Golley Gee, Look't Dem Dawgs runin dat ball!"?

I seen to remember a fair number of SPS posters who have stated publically "I'll ring my dang bell whenever I want and they can pry it from my cold dead hands if they want to try and stop me." At least some who say that wear faded maroon wife beater shirts and overalls to the games too.

I'm not saying all social and economic levels aren't welcome, just that Stingray is more upper class looking, sounding and better spoken than some of them (No, I'm not talking about you Uncle Luther and Aunt Jeenie, and for Pete's sake, don't cut me out of the will.***)

Delusional and sociopath? Absolutely. Tranny 17ing condom salesman? No idea. If I was a betting man I'd wager that he gets a boner every time someone mentions him or the number 34

Anyone who would start a thread to patronize Stingray has a problem. Since you look down on the guy, why post about it on an MSU message board?

He's probably getting more attention on this message board than anywhere else. His appearances on Finebaum are fleeting and most people don't watch Finebaum.

/I don't want him on Sportscenter representing us, but I do know the bigger/better you get, the more fringe/oddball fans you have. And, I watch his videos and laugh about as much as I cringe.

A fair portion? If less than 1% is a fair portion.

Also, we are no longer allowed to ring cowbells non stop anymore. (Make sure you are ringing responsibly).

I don't hate the guy but his act was tired after the first bit.

If he's going to keep doing these, he should just go full-scale WWE...get a championship belt and surround himself with some hot girls...maybe the Stingrettes, or the CowBelles...maybe get a manager like Jimmy Hart...just go all in.

This. He doesn't officially represent Mississippi State or its fan base any more than the other crazy Finebaum guests represent the teams for which they root. Relax, fellas. No one sees your State hat & thinks you're Stingray.

I wish he would just step away from the limelight and media attention. He's a Damn Bama grad, just doing this for the attention.
If he wants to be a State fan, fine, but there is no need to be an attention seeking *****. It's all fake.

I disagree. State seems to have more of the... Do you drive a Lexus or Range Rover? ...and... does this JCrew shirt go with my skinny jeans?...... Types than rednecks.

I will give this to Stingray. I meet State grads on occasion. Rarely do I run across a State grad that actually goes to the games.

I don't laugh at him I'll laugh with him the guy is funny, goofy but at least he uses logic and facts in his rant unlike Tammy or some of the other schools Ranters. All the others have a tendency to rant when they're absolutely hammered and not making any sense and just start yelling how pissed off they are and how terrible their team is, at least stingray stays positive and looks at the bright side unlike some of you idiots.

He seems like the kinda guy that would give you the shirt off his back. Which I think represents our fan base pretty well.

I've never seen or heard what he does, only read about it here, but he'd have to go some to beat Phyllis. That woman is crazy. And the Auburn woman that called in two or three weeks ago is possibly even worse.
