Ok , sorry had to do it.But, if I remember correctly Kofi, who is at 21 points and 12.rebounds per game was very interested in coming to UK with Orlando and Chin Coleman from Illinois this summer as transfer.

Also, wasn’t there interest from Kessler in UK? He looked pretty good yesterday and was very active yesterday.

For anyone who may know or-remembers the story.

I realize we had a highly regarded prospect in Collins and of course the BIG O but sees like either one of those guys would have been more helpful this year than Collins to help O down low.
Or does Collins deserve more minutes bc Oscar needs some help?
Seems like another bad call like with Askew evaluating talent.

What part of Oscar and Kofi and Kessler were not going to play on the same team is so hard for people to grasp?

They all see themselves as starting centers trying to play themselves into the NBA. Who was going to sit on the bench and wait for mop-up minutes? And have you not noticed that Kentucky is playing a perimeter-based game? No way any two of those guy are on the floor at the same time.

I'll take Oscar.

Kofi, yes. For Kessler, I think there was some interest early, but nothing major. From what I've heard, his dad was a handful.

I’m really impressed by how much better Kessler looks playing for Pearl than he did for UNC. Looks like a totally different player than he was last year. Especially on the defensive end where he’s become quite a rim-protecting force.

Pearl really knows how to get the most out of his guys.

The downfall of our team this season come NCAA tournament time will be. A game that Oscar gets into foul trouble our season ends. Besides Oscar we have next to nothing at the 4 & 5 spots. Collins has all the potential in the world but he's 30 pounds under weight. Ware is good for about 2 points a game. Brooks looks like he should be the 9th man on your team. Toppin has his good moments & moments that aren't so good. You add Kofi Cockburn to go along with Oscar you would think that teams would play a sagging zone to surround these 2 All-Americans, but with the 3 point shooters we have Grady, Mintz, Washington & Allen & with Wheeler & Washington ability to dribble penetrate this team would be unguardable. Imagine the offensive rebounds that Oscar & Kofi would grab. The other team's entire front court would foul out trying to contain these 2. You add Kofi Cockburn to our team & Auburn WOULD NOT have been dunking all over us yesterday.

I wish Cal had at least got a center from smaller school that had some experience and could at least gave us something.Ware and Collins are a nightmare right now.

Collins for one is not being developed at all. We have 10 guys that can play. Why not develope a bench and make use of the 10 guys by full court pressing. I will be surprised if Collins or Ware are not in the portal after the season.

Collins makes first season Walter McCarty look like a bodybuilder. He'll fill out some but not sure that he'll ever be a guy who can anchor in the post

Kofi would not be as generous as Oscar with the ball. We would be complaining about how he is just a black hole and never kicks it out to Grady and TyTy for open 3s.

Kessler’s original recruitment came down to Auburn and UNC. On top of that, Bruce was in communications with his family last year starting in February (when he was still playing for UNC). When he decided to transfer, there was zero doubt he would end up at Auburn. I’m not even sure that UK pursued him for that reason

Agree they are not needed. But perimeter based with Toppin and Brooks, Div 1 players that are below average shooters (at least Toppin) and cannot dribble a basketball.

He dunked on nobody. Cal has never figured out how to defend the pick and roll. That’s how Wisconsin beat us.
Odd no one has mentioned that defending the pick and toll wasn't much of a problem before Washington got hurt. TyTy and Wheeler's defense is really good and the opposition isn't able to do the same things because of their speed and switching abilities. Kessler dunks came when their player beat our players and the bigs had to try and help out.

Then we needed to adjust not double teaming the man at the top of the key because Kessler was going straight to the basket every time and we as usual, never adjusted.

Bowie and Turpin. Cousins and Patterson (Patterson was not a center, but Oscar could play some PF with another big similar to what Patterson did). KAT and Willie. Is it not 2015 either?
Willie was a pure athlete that could guard every position. Kofi is not that type of player.

But, if Oscar goes out with foul trouble or a little rest. We have no inside game at all.
That may come back to haunt us in NCAA Tourney.
Dominant guard play will win in the tournament with or without a big guy. I know there are people that disagree but in the tournament post players and depth will never decide the national champion, it’s always the team that gets tough shots from your guards and wings.

This fanbase is truly awful at this point. All I've heard for years is why does Cal insist on playing 2 bigs at the same time that clog up the lane. That type of basketball doesn't work anymore. The game has passed him by, blah, blah, blah.

Now, he's gone to basically 4 out and 1 in and the criticism is .... you guessed it, why did Cal turn away Kofi, even though it would have led to 2 lane-clogging bigs on the floor at the same time.

You do understand, the only option would have been Kofi and Oscar on the floor at the same time. The idea that they would "share" the center position is so unrealistic that anyone with even an ounce of sense knows it would never happen. And we saw how that type of system worked for Oscar at WVU. For those that don't know, he's here because he wanted nothing to do with playing next to another true post player.

I will go on record and say, I don’t want 2 bigs on the floor at the same time. Even if it was Oscar and Kofi. Whether or not Cal could have made it work, I have no idea .

Robey and Phillips come to mind. Bowie and Turpin, also. (I know you were being facetious)
Again, those were 40 years ago. In today's basketball world you don't and won't see that. You may see 2 big guys (like now at Gonzaga) but not both Center types without the ability to guard or shoot outside.
And the same guys complaining about not adding Kofi, are probably the same ones saying Cal sucks because he isn't playing 4 guards. Can't have it both ways.
