I've definitely outgrown David Allen Coe. Probably like his music a little too much back in college. A couple years ago "If that ain't country" came on in a hipster taco joint in Telluride, not only did they not turn it off but the were all singing along, several black patrons in the place, wanted to crawl under a table. I'm good.

Wil say I had a helluva time at one of his concerts. Probably closest I've come to drinking myself to death. Woke up with a black eye, allegedly fell into the corner of a mantle. Had to leave class right after a quiz to puke.

2.4.1998 dusting was the night before my 12th birthday. Remember getting up early and seeing all the snow at like 5am. Was so excited I couldn’t go back to sleep so I just started playing nba jam on the genesis.

pizza rolls just hit different on snow days.

roads weren’t too bad into lex this morning. Really only went to work so I could stop at Starbucks. Of course those gafs were closed.

can someone explain shoveling your driveway for “short term” snow? Like this stuff will all be gone by tomorrow afternoon, why am I spending 1-2 hours shoveling it? I’ll get my front porch steps but the rest is fine where it is, imo.

Nate bargatze is my favorite comic right now. Think he’s coming to lex soon?

Smoking a block of cream cheese tonight because I am fat

I’m not a heavy drinker but January is by far my busiest drinking month. Got a bottle of calumet farm (?) bourbon I’m gonna try out tonight. Perfect bourbon weather we’re having!

Doc’s still crushing the ‘Gram with toddler pics and cooked meats most days. Of course the kid has a power wheels hot rod and is crushing med-rare meats on the regular already.

I used to see Bargatze at my friend’s weekly Sunday night standup show at Union Hall in Brooklyn around 2012 (for free!). Last time he was in Cincy we waited to shake his hand and we mentioned those old shows and he chatted with us for a while about leaving NYC to have kids, etc. He’s a super nice guy, obvs.

My wife and I are going to see him at the Taft next week.

The next comic I want to see (when he comes by) is Mark Normand, but he’s performing during the First Round of the NCAAT. [eyeroll]

Love having the BMW pod back on this blessed Friday.

Just one point of clarification: the Cats are not 0-2 against ACC teams. We molly wopped the tarheels. A truly embarrassing loss for a once proud program.

- My favorite, too, and yes, you should absolutely go. Not only is he great (saw him at Comedy Off Broadway back in 2019), but I really enjoy going to events at Singletary Center. He sold out his Thursday show, then added a Wednesday show (Lexington is the first stop on his new tour). Really hoped he'd add a Tuesday show because we're headed south on Wednesday morning for first round of college visits for my oldest, but doesn't look like he's going to. Really disappointed I'm missing it.

- Visiting five schools in three days with the oldest. Berry College (small school in Rome, Georgia, about the size of Centre/Transy), Georgia Tech, UGA, Furman, and Clem(p)son. Think there are only two real possibilities for her out of that list (will come down to money, obviously), but I like that she'll be seeing a small school, some big schools, and one that's in between.

- Bargatze is my favorite, but I really like Dusty Slay, too. He's got a new Netflix special on "The Standups". Not his best set, but still enjoyable. And I like both his and Bargatze's podcasts as well.

- That new UK football video from the Citrus Bowl is NFL Films-quality. Right down to the camera following the ball on Levis' passes. Just great work by the UK media crew. Unreal how good those are.

- Youngest and I are still working through the Marvel movies in story order and have gotten to the best part, IMO....the Spiderman movies, the final two Avengers, Black Panther, and Ragnarok. Really feel like they nailed those across the board. Was gonna end with "Endgame", but that new Spiderman movie was so good, might as well see where it goes.

- Glad January 6th is over, seeing as how it was 9/11, the holocaust, the Wisconsin game, Pearl Harbor, and Garth Brooks' run as Chris Gaines all in one.

Yeap, he referenced a wedding in Lou in one of his older bits. Think it was Bullitt County area.

He's on one of Kreischers podcasts from a few yrs ago where they sat in Zanies and did their podcast while getting hammered. Was interesting hearing him "loose"

If you ever hear Gaffigan on a podcast he turns R rated unlike his act.

Interesting that Bargatze is doing the Singletary Center. Seems like most comics have gone away from college shows as the kids can’t appreciate comedy and picket or whatever for their shows because a joke tweet from 12 years ago.

Speaking of Wellesley, when I studied overseas for 3 months in Cairo, Egypt there was this nice gal that attended said university (I was the only kid there that went to a public university). She was all in favor of the rich having their money redistributed to the poor.

I asked if she would be okay with that if it meant she couldn’t attend Wellesley anymore because her parents couldn’t afford it. She said that’s not what she meant, she meant REALLY REALLY rich people…okay toots. That always gives me a chuckle.

The Singletary show is a not a “college show.” It is just a show from his tour that happens to use a college theater as its venue.

The college shows you’re referring to are part of the college circuit and are put on by the colleges themselves through campus activity boards, etc.

The Rewatchables pod on Hoosiers from late last year is a great listen. Interesting that, per Simmons, all of the guys on the team, Ollie included, played college ball on some level except for Jimmy Chitwood. Wont give them away but a lot of the other movie facts are pretty fascinating with that one. Russilo is on there with him and has a great story about old-school coaches at those early 90's basketball camps, and how those guys could tell what area of the country a guy was from by the way he took a jumper.

They also did Father of the Bride recently and discussed a potential spin-off with Kieran Culkin's character being the primary role, if he could channel Roman Roy for the part. Would most definitely watch that.
