And we went in last night hitting like 73%. And the beauty of that number is that’s purely on the team. Can’t blame that on “poor competition”. You either hit them or don’t. And last night we just didn’t. That’s definitely not a normal for us.
It might be normal for us under pressure.We will see.
Missing free throws doesn't really matter............if you still win the game.
Missing free throws against good teams will get you beat 90% of the time, especially come tournament time.
Shooting 50% from the line is unacceptable for a scholarship player and ridiculous for their coach to not get it fixed. It is fixable.

Choking at the free throw line in big games is a huge problem. It usually means you have the wrong guy with the ball in his hands and the wrong guy shooting free throws at crunch time.
Again, we will see going forward. One of our best (Oscar) struggled last night. And then Ware, bless his heart, I don’t know what those were.
Why should anyone other than an LSU fan care about this? That’s a loser mentality. They sucked at it so it’s OK that we sucked too? Seriously!
In big games against top level competition, every free throw comes at crunch time. They are ALL important in these close games.
And against top competition, all of our games will be decided by a very few points with this team.
7 of the misses were from Oscar and Ware.

key example is the ‘18 K state game in Atlanta. Send PJ to the line to miss free throws while our guards get bumped all game.
also, let the bigs get hacked, but call a foul on the floor when they have a wide open dunk.

I could care less what LSU did at the free throw line.If we make ours different outcome momentum wise.Never allow a team to stay in a game and missing one and ones allows them to.
It doesn’t matter who misses them. Missed free throws are missed free throws. In fact it’s more important for interior players to make them because they usually get to the line more. They’re on the roster. Don’t miss them all. Ware’s we’re pathetic. Not even close.
This. Saying LSU missed a lot of their free throws too is a loser mentality. You’re basically saying they shot poorly from the line so it’s OK that we did too. That is a really, really bad take.
Hard to believe 4 and 5 star players cannot hit most of their FTs.
It matters who shoots them.
There’s a reason why Jimmy Chitwood took the final shot.
Oscar is normally decent. Ware. Those weren’t FTs. Those were…..well….I don’t know what they were. But I hate watching it.
No it doesn’t. You can’t control who gets fouled and goes to the line. Based on your line of thinking, we should never throw the ball to any of our interior players? Just a dumb take. You’re a college basketball player at a major university. Make your damned free throws.
It all starts in the gym..any of our kids can go shoot free throws anytime.They can do it by themselves or with each other.We shot bad last night.I hope it doesn't become routine.
Slight disagree there. Sometimes you can. That’s why in close games you want the ball in your best FT shooters hands. Will he get fouled? Maybe. Maybe not. But if he does he’s on the line, read to get you free points. I would’ve given fouls away last night to put Ware on the line. Just as good as a TO.
Well sure, but that has nothing to do with what I posted. They should all be working on stuff individually and that includes free throws. I have no idea how a college basketball player can shoot free throws that poorly. They weren’t even close. How is that?
Yep. Just like teams did to Shaq. Now Shaq had other ways to score. But if the game was tight? I don’t want Shaq on the line that’s for sure. Yeesn.
Some guys do just suck at it. It’s baffling. Happens at every level from pee wee to NBA.
These misses didn’t happen at the end of the game. Did you even watch? They happened throughout the game. So should only our guards have touched the ball last night? LOL. Stop with the excuses.
Some thrive under pressure and some dont.Not everybody is a good free throw shooter.I know I want the ball in my best free throw shooters hands in crunch time but there are so many variables that can take the ball out of mt best free throw shooters hands also.
I didn’t say it was. I’m talking FT shooting in general but Ware’s attempts were pitiful. All misses count.
I agree.Had we made free throws during one and ones and when we had that pathetic scoring drought it would have maybe helped stop momentum from going their way.We lost.I wish we hadn't but we did.
Right and that’s a symptom of the problem. Fundamentals and basketball skills are being deemphasized. Length and athleticism drives everything. That’s one of the big reasons the college game is so ugly these days and why it’s losing its popularity. Great athletes aren't necessarily great basketball players and vise versa. Of course what you really want are great basketball players that are really athletic. They’re not easy to find these days.
What exactly are you attempting to say? I’m not the one making ANY excuses. I just pointed out the poor free throw shooting. You’re the one throwing out excuses. Drinking this morning?

I never said that we shouldn’t throw the ball inside. My point is simple: if the refs put our guards on the line, we hit more of our free throws. Very simple. And most get this.

Why aren’t you a free throw coach? If you can make every player magically hit their free throws, it would seem that every basketball program would be beating down your door to get you on their staff.
This is the type of post you make when you don’t have a point to make. So the officials decided to put our bigs on the line instead of our guards? OK. LOL. I guess they should have swallowed their whistles when Ware and Oscar were clearly fouled and instead waited to see if our guards got fouled at some point. This is one of the dumbest takes i’ve seen yet. The player that gets fouled goes to the line. Period. Make some of them. By the way, Mintz and Grady missed as well. And no, I’m not saying you have to hit them all. But you can’t shoot 50% from the line and win many close games.
