Hopefully, the LOA will come save the day for him in SEC competition. It has to …

Here's my problem with what you've said. The entire idea that "Cal got in his head" shows a bias against the head coach. Why do we have to choose who we support here? Do we have to believe Cal is against Allen? It's a false dichotomy, in my opinion. Why would Cal want Allen to fail? Just to spite fans? People who believe that kind of thing are folks who just hate Calipari. The perception that Cal was somehow holding Allen back was the product of a bad season and an increasingly negative outlook from the fans. But there is no reason to believe Cal was trying to "get in his head."

I am a fan of Dontaie Allen, by the way. I want him to succeed. I believe he has the potential to succeed here. I hope he stays. I hope he continues to improve. I hope he has a breakout game where he scores 30. I think Cal wants exactly what I want.
I see what you're saying and I agree. In the beginning, it was highly speculated that Cal didn't like fans telling him to play Allen more. But you're right in that Cal never said that. It was the fans who said that. My bad. Sorry.

Look, I have always been a fan of Allen. And yes, it's because he's a KY kid. I want him to succeed here. And I know he's not playing well at all right now. But as much as we like to think we know, NONE of us knows the whole story. I do believe in the very beginning, Cal got into his head. I also believe that Cal was upset that a lot of fans wanted him to play more and Cal didn't like that. That was pretty evident. However, what has gone on between them in practice and other ways, we will never know. Allen's confidence is non existent right now. Whether that is Cal in his head or something else, we won't know. Let's stop ripping the kid a new one and just encourage him. He is, after all, still a Wildcat.
I am sure Cal got in his head. Cal wants him to fail so the team fails and we lose games. Brilliant idea. Cal wants Allen to fail? Why? Please explain why Cal would do that. These conspiracy theories are unbelievable.

No worries. You're certainly not the first or the only one I've heard say that same thing. But you're right in this: we don't really know the relationship between them. According to Cal, it's good. According to fans, they tolerate each other. Cal is a stubborn man with a big ego, so we tell him what to do and he's not liking that. Us "basketball bennies" as he calls us, think we know better than the coach, and we not only accuse him of being a poor bench coach, we 2nd guess everything he does. If I'm a hall of fame coach surrounded by a massive group of fans who think I can't even do my job, I'm gonna be prickly toward them. It's like when he's questioning the media members after games "did any of you watch the game?" And UK fans don't care if you won by 30, we want to know why Richie or Miller or Dontaie didn't get more minutes. And the ego in him thinks "who do these "crazy" people think they are? I've forgotten more about basketball than they know." But it's part of this job and he knows that, too.

But hey, as I say, I'm all for Allen. I'm totally serious, I hope he gets more chances and he breaks out of whatever slump he's in. I was cheering for him watching the game- come on! Make that shot! At this point, I think missing so many shots is what is in his head. I have a feeling right now that if he sees one go in, he might make 3 or 4. That's what he needs. And it would be great for the team also.
