Ideally Allen, Hopkins, Collins and Ware form the core of returning players for next year, to go along with the new guys
Allen, Hopkins, and Collins can all be really good players next year. So that’s perfect. Ware will do what he does but won’t be a core player.

I think Oscar will find a place in the NBA, and POY types almost always get grabbed by someone. An NBA team could use Oscar as their 2nd unit big man for energy and solid rebounding, and still not have to pay him much. I'd definitely take that chance with like the 40th pick.

Wheeler on the other hand, just a bit too small it seems. 5'9 guards in the NBA need to have almost zero flaws to make it. And I dont think he's NBA fast. What is Wheelers eligibility standing? Because I don't see the NBA going for him.
Oscar isn’t some huge bruiser who can’t run either, he’s quick and has a decent shot around the free throw line, I think he could develop into a serviceable shooter in the league with the level of training and practice they get.

I love Oscar. Hope he completes all of his eligibility here at UK.

But, if anyone thinks Oscar is not going to struggle against LSU, UT, Auburn, and any other team with multiple 6'10" to 7' players on the inside is dreaming.

The SEC is going to be tough on Oscar, especially road games. SEC officials will neutralize him in most games. Especially on the road.

I think that’s a pretty silly way to look at it. I mean yeah we got players through the transfer portal but the staff would have had other recruits or options had that not been a thing. And then throw the fact that we lumped the recruits as not being on the team adds to the craziness. I mean add that same scenario to the 2011 team and who would we have had starting without recruits the following year? Not a lot.

I hope he doesn’t get taken out, although history shows that yes he will get in foul trouble some games for sure. We will have to see but he played well against Duke and we won’t see many front lines better than that.

I hope you don't mean last year's team.

That is possible for 2020, but unlikely due to the Hagans issue. But without Covid you would not have had the free transfer rule and extra year of eligibility granted to every player.

That would mean that none of the current transfers would have been eligible to play this year.

Think no Oscar, no Wheeler, no Kellen Grady......
and tell me where this team would be.

that was coming with or without covid
Oscar would probably still be at UK and more than likely so would have Wheeler

Duke does not play anywhere near as physical in the paint that SEC teams will play against Oscar.

They gonna beat on Big O. Hope he can handle the crap they are going to throw at him.

Neutralize Big O and we are a totally different team.

So. Did you bring up 38-1
No. Because the thread is about where THIS team would be without the transfer portal.

The players returning from last year were 9 and whatever.....worst in modern history.

The 38-1 team has NOTHING to do with THIS team.

Have a good day sir. You are all up in your feelings for Cal and I'm trying to watch a playoff game.

I’d say if there was ever a situation that a really good college player at UK would stay until he graduated, it would be Oscar. I just don’t see any type of future for him in the NBA. And he is loving life right now as a rock star at Kentucky.
And wheeler also
