Scott Drew is my ONLY choice right now. Seeing what he has done with Baylor versus what Cupcake Calipari has done with the supposedly greatest college basketball program of all time makes it a EASY call.
Offer Drew $7.5 million per year and the keys to Camelot. A better job than most NBA franchises and the prestige that goes with it. He'd jump and fast!
The new SEC contract is coming up soon with ESPN and the place to be for highest visibility is going to be Alabama football and Kentucky basketball.
Time to fix this clusterfvck of a mess Calipari has created!

You don’t flip off the fan base who used to think you walked on water. Bobby Knight used to get upset too. Chairs would fly. No thanks.

He is not welcome back.

Snowflake. I want the best guy for teh job, who cares if he's fan base friendly.

Donovan, Stevens, and Vogel are going to be in the NBA carousel until they continue to get canned. Summers off vs. recruiting teenagers 24/7 and having to deal with the one-time transfer rule is an easy fight.

Oats needs to get more than an SEC championship before he is ready.

Holtmann hasn't done anything at Ohio State. Who cares if he's from Kentucky.

Oats, Musselman, Drew or Pearl and at this stage of my life I don’t care about the piddly BS that has followedPearl. He can recruit and coach.

Nate Oats would be at the top of my list, there’s honestly no one else that I would want after that

I was one of those that wanted Cal when we hired BCG. I now think it's time for a change. We no longer are getting the top talent on a yearly basis that you need for the roster turnover he has. When you get players like Wall, Boogie, Fox, Towns, etc.. you can send a bunch in and out. Washington and Boston classes don't have the talent level of the freshmen of the past.

My main concern with Cal is his stubbornness. Telling kids to step inside that three and take an 18 footer is mind boggling...That's directing kids to take statistically the worst shot in basketball. If their problem is they can't make a 21 footer, then they probably don't need to play, because relying on 18 foot jump shots is a recipe to lose. We supposedly recruit "better" shooters now and start a PG that can't shoot, a undersized PF who can't shoot and a back to the basket center. You don't have a team of better shooters if they are not on the floor.

Also tired of him asking his guards to go get up in the belly of someone only to be beat off the dribble. I would much rather give them a couple of feet and stay in front of them instead of asking them to do something they are not capable of.

Hard hard pass on Chris Holtmann. Always begins the year or gets through the non-conference schedule with a high ranking OSU squad and always squanders in conference play. Give me Nate Oats.

Oats or Stevens. He almost came to IU. UK would for sure get him to come.
This is pure delusion. Not a chance in hell Stevens would ever come here. He’s already got a better job than any coaching gig …he’s boss of the entire Celtics organization …he ain’t giving that up to go back to college. He’ll probably never coach again, and even if he does, it’ll be in the NBA.

Besides, Stevens has honestly admitted that he didn’t like the recruiting aspect of CBB and wasn’t particularly good at it (his best Butler players we’re all low-rated HS prospects who massively overachieved in college). Is a coach who openly admits that he dislikes recruiting really suited for UK?

I would like either of these options I would definitely love Pope because he’s one of our own and he’s done a fantastic job at the places he’s been.

Then the 2nd not so popular option I’d love to have Pitino the coach back he was the 2nd best coach UK ever had behind Rupp.

My 3rd option would be Oats if the other 2 say no.
Give me Pitino any day to hell with the baggage. Cal has his own baggage that is getting bigger every day. 1 9-16 last year 2. losing record against ranked teams the past 6 years 3. no final four in past 6 years 4. Cal's record the past 2 years worse than Gillespie 4. alienated most of the fan base.....All of this for the bargain price of $10 million per year.

Looks like this thread is running out of steam so let me state the obvious:

Calipari will be here another five years at a minimum and will leave exactly when he feels like it and not a day before.
I think you’re right but it’s unfortunate for UK basketball and BBN that it will be that way.

Drew's record in NIT is really impressive too
11-3
Cal has been to the NIT a lot sparky.....

As a college coach, Calipari has 21 20-win seasons (20 official) and 9 30-win seasons (8 official). He has also coached 6 teams to the NIT, winning the NIT Championship at Memphis in 2002.
