The thread about the Mill got me curious about what all was being built on campus and in town, so I started poking around. Here is what all I have found so far-

New veterans center and dorms on the north side of campus (Summer 2016). This picture makes it look like construction is where Suttle used to stand. http://www.msstate.edu/web/media/detail.php?id=7238

Outdoor eating area in front of the old bakery location (now Moe's/Subway) opening this fall. http://www.msstate.edu/web/snapshot/?id=3975

Parking garage/classes opening Fall 2016 http://www.msstate.edu/web/snapshot/?id=3973

Library construction noted a few weeks ago on the board which has part of engineering row's road re-routed until Dec 2016. http://www.msstate.edu/web/media/announcement.php?id=2569

New MSU Softball field/Tennis stadium complex

Starkville City Hall is supposed to be down by Nov 1, so traffic should be better in downtown for the end of the season- http://www.wtva.com/news/local/stor...rget-for-November/kF_g8s5ZLkW8j0Dc6wYq8w.cspx

Panda Express going up in the Walmart parking lot area.

Kroger is expanding to one of the new huge Krogers that are being built everywhere. They took over the entire store front that houses them currently. Old article- http://www.cdispatch.com/news/article.asp?aid=33823

Please add anything else to the list, especially if you have links to pictures/articles/drawings/ect

**Edit**

There are some new luxury-ish looking apartments that are up on Highway 12 behind CAVS/Research Park. http://haven12.com/

Good stuff af102.

Is it just me or has the Parking garage/classes building taken longer than it should have? Seems like this is going to turn into a 5+ year project.

The Vets Center/Dorms are actually going where Evans Hall stood. The Parking Garage/Classroom building has have to had at least $3m done in dirt work.

We have King Soopers out west which is owned by same ppl as Kroger. They built a huge store down the road from us and its pretty dang nice. I bet it'll be something similar.

You missed a couple:
The Gin, which is a condo development just started dirt work about two weeks, it is located across from the Mill: http://theginonrussell.com
The Whitney, is also a condo complex, which already has already has started significant construction, it is located on Lumus, (take a right turn by down the hatch): http://www.cottondistrictapartments.com
The Baptist Student Union is also building a new complex, just down the hill from the old one: http://www.msstate.edu/web/media/detail.php?id=6850
Many Sorority Houses are going through major expansions.
Two new condo/townhouse complexes are almost done behind Tuesday Mornings, and beside the Annabellum houses : http://tabordevelopment.com/2015.php#delphinejump
They also took down the water town behind the Grill, and it looks like the Central Station development will break ground their soon
Lastly in the next month the lot where the old grocery store used to be, (in front of down the hatch) will soon be condos and apartments, from what I have heard.

So will the Grill Nazi be at the old cafeteria or the new "Fresh Foods"?

I may have to hit up an omelette this fall for old times' sake...

I haven't been back to Starkville in a couple of years now. Seems like I'm not going to recognize it.

You mean behind down the hatch?

Two errors on my part, To get to the Whitney, you take a left at down the hatch, and the Lot I was referring to is behind down the hatch.

The Whitney is going on the lot with the old Thrift Store on it? Right behind Down the Hatch?

here is another pic of the parking garage

it kind of reminds me of a Belmont University building. pretty grandiose for a parking garage, but its a timeless look, so you cant really go wrong with it.

I think the three levels you see will be classrooms and the two level parking garage will possibly be underground.

Good stuff, I hope there are multiple exits to that thing. It seems like is going to be a nightmare to get out of on football games.

Come to think of it, that could be a safety issue if people are in gridlock all throughout that thing. It wouldn't take long for CO2 to become an issue.

Right, but seems like they started talking about it several years before actually breaking ground.

I also just realized it's only two floors of parking. Wish it was more.

So is it official what's going on the corner next door to Cooley/Mill?

I saw something about more condos/retail, but are there any details? That corner needs to be something cool.

This is kind of funny--I actually did these renderings when I still lived in MS and worked for BSA. There were interior ones we did too--i'm not sure if those were ever made public or not.

The Gin on Russell condos at corner of Maxwell St across from The Mill. Ground has been broken...no more Boy Scout parking. Check out website.

Hey stratdawg, the new parking garage will have multiple exits, because of where it sits on a hillside, both levels will have their own entrance, instead of a ramped lot...the front of the building will have 20 classrooms that can but divided and a large auditorium (which can also be divided)

Yes I saw those, but across the street from that... Directly across from the ski

lodge, whatever fraternity that is now... That was the lot I was really thinking of. It's not part of the Mill project and I think someone said Ergon owns it. Just wondering if there are solid plans announced?

Ergon has been brought in to develope that area, but I haven't heard any concrete plans yet. I was told it'll be mixed use development though, and should have several new restaurants and bars.

I haven't heard a timeframe for that though. Hopefully it's not 2020.

I was under the impression that Ergon owned this land. I was told it would be mixed use. Condos and retail/restaurants.

There are also a couple lots that are part of The Mill that will be developed for restaurants and/or retail. Those have generated some pretty good interest. At one point, Shapely's was looking at it as well as the guys that own Walkers too. I also heard an early rumor that Amerigo's was looking at this too. It seems like this will attract a pretty good restaurant.

i agree that they did miss the mark a bit, but at the same time, it replaces the eye soar that was the old electric dept building that was on that corner. it looks ok and will look better with some finishing touches and landscaping, but i agree that the design could have been better.

There is a sign with renderings for a new development on the corner of Jackson and Lapkin St. Only thing I could find about it online: http://www.starkvilletoday.com/jackson-square-mixed-use-7-27-15.html. That corner has been an eyesore downtown for a while now. Hopefully it actually gets developed. The old farmer's market on the other corner with all the rusty metal work needs cleaned up and turned into something else too.
