The only zone that would make any sense would be a matchup zone which we have never played.
Possible, but I don’t really want to play any zone when a team is killing it from the perimeter. I have, however, called for us to use a zone at times, but tonight shouldn’t have been the time for it.

Correction, box score says 17 off turnover and 10 point off second chance. So 27.

I generally like your views. I just don't see it tonight. Take a step back. People are warranted in being on the edge tonight. Coming off a 9-16 season, playing as we did tonight, and staring down K's swan song on Tuesday, a scant 3 days away...
Again, show me where I sad we didn’t suck tonight. I have concerns. We all do. It’s also the first week of November. And I want to beat Duke just as bad. But dang.
lone crP game and we’re already hitting the panic button.

And I'm still not sold on Wheeler. I don't believe we're 9-16 bad, but I'm not seeing the bounce back year to excellence we've been sold.
I don’t know buddy maybe I have my blue googles on. I think wheeler is one of those hustler / scrappy players. I love players that leave it all on the floor like I have noticed he does the couple of games he has played for us already. Having him and Ty Ty as the 1-2 punch I think as the season wears on they will be the best 2 guards in the country.

I do like his effort, don't get me wrong. Wheeler hustles his butt off.

And there's legitimate reason to hit the panic button. We're coming off 9-16 and struggle with Miles College? Miles College? What in the holy @$%?

so what do we do. Fire Cal tomorrow? I’m sure that will fix it.

Honestly though we will see Tuesday night which players belong at this level and which ones don’t.
I agree. Tuesday night will say a lot about where this team really is. Maybe they were sleep walking tonight...but coming off a season like last year probably has some fans on edge. And who can blame anyone for being a bit concerned? Last year was a nightmare and before anyone says it...every team had to deal with COVID.

I don't have the answer. I'm not Mitch. I do know something isn't working with Cal at the helm. Stevie Wonder can see it.
Runs no darn offense scheme. When you call plays/sets. What is the goal? Jack a shot up early in shot clock? Great when it goes in. But what about when it doesn't? Well since the shot was just thrown up, the whole play is broken. Players out of position to get back or rebound. List goes on and on.

Like pos bill self. No matter win or loose. The offense scheme is used every play. This goes way back with Cal! Even at UMass.

Wheeler is the only one that can get by his man off the dribble

Duke is gonna take us to the woodshed for a good thrashing, maybe as bad as the one the Zion led team gave UK. I was hoping we would beat them on the big national stage but the two exhibitions have shown that isn’t happening.

You've hit on something. We plod the ball up the court, pass the ball around the perimeter with no urgency or purpose, then either try to force the ball to unprepared post players, or aimlessly drive the ball and get in trouble in the paint. I've had it with that stuff. Had it.

Agreed. It's not even dribble drive. That actually has simple backbone schemes. It's fine to play so free, when your starting 5 is absolutely gifted. When we don't, We need discipline! Every possession.

Same crap for 10 years
No screens
Lousy free throw shooting
Wrong guys shooting even when someone had hit a couple of shots
Just no coaching at all

Big win tonight against Miles… looked good. Miles was “on” tonight and did not appear to be looking ahead to their big matchup with Oakwood next week. Enjoy the win & know they don’t get any easier from here. Miles one week Duke the next… the life of a Wildcat.
