Made it through the 5th.

Fenter projected next to go for us, with current MLB.com projection putting him toward the end of the 6th, but he has seemingly been dropping. So we will see.

Pickett really has fallen. Good for us, I suppose.

Gene saying that Fenter has told 6 clubs thanks but no thanks to 3rd round money and all indications are that he's headed to MSU...

Which, if true, given that Ford and Padgett both have already said they would be at MSU, it seems we can really turn our attention to Pickett and Marrero...

Judging solely on his tweet to JP, it looks like Kale has full intentions of coming to Starkvegas.

If we keep everyone but Riley then I don't think we could have realistically asked for any better result given the draft projections.

Be quite possible to see it finish as the #1 class nationally if that happens, given what has already happened to several highly-rated classes around the SEC... And the "feels like 94" projection basically becomes reality...

If you are a normal person like me you are analyzing RTs and faves on twitter right now. Pickett fave fords recent tweet about our class being the best today.

Everything I have heard about Pickett is that he was going regardless. But I'd love to be wrong.

I had heard that when we was projected by most everyone in the top 50. Hadn't heard anything new since the stock drop but it will be interesting to see.

Gene now saying Fenter strongly considering the O's offer.

If we lose Riley, Pickett, Fenter, Marrero, and Small that'll be quite a bit of damage.

And a fitting end to this baseball season. Cohen has to be stressing. Some of these kids going pro could end up costing him his job. We needed these kids to be good next season

Cohen has 7 guys that MLB obviously considers very good prospects coming back next year. The larger part of his stress is going to be in the Cape IMO. If we see those pitchers progress as most elite talents we have tend to in their 3rd years, we will be ok.

And I found this interesting on Pickett.

#Phillies believe that all their draft picks are signable. Even power hitting OF Greg Pickett. Other teams did not think he was

Odd, the thought on him for months had been he was a big draft risk on our side.

This draft has gone really well. We need to hope this means good nees as far as ethan small. He may be the steal of this class.

Those 7 guys finished DFL this year. Either they're not as good as they're hyped up to be or they're just very poorly coached.

Or they are just young and have been injured for big and important chunks of their career. it's hard to fathom you still cycling back to the "just not very good" approach when mlb obviously disagrees...

Considering MLB completely misses on half of it's 1st round draft picks, it's not that much of a stretch to think they may be missing on a t least a couple of the 7. I did provide another option though. They may be good players who are just poorly coached.

Or -- they are elite talents that came here raw -- have been injured -- and are a little behind schedule? That can't be it. And MLB doesn't "miss" on hardly anything, and certainly not anything coming out of the SEC, but that's a whole different argument.

My issue with your position is that you are making a convenient bet hedge. You are saying these guys aren't any good -- while leaving yourself an out when they end up being good. Make a position on it and stick to it. When they turn the corner next year, it'll be "cuz good summer coaching and Coinz/Butch is terrible and only gets one year out of guys!1!"

My position is our recruiting and coaching is overrated by a lot of the baseball "experts" on this board and another board.

These baseball "experts" are the ones responsible for overrating players now? Not the guys that -- you know -- actually rate players?

Seems the O's are throwing some real $$ at him...

I would think for either Fenter or Pickett to sign they would need to get well over their slot value. I sure wouldn't throw away my college experience for 175K (before taxes). Any reason to have any hope that we could hold on to one or both of them?

Hmmm, do I go to college for three years and get my noodle wet by "girls of the SEC" or do I take the net $75,000, buy myself a kick *** truck, pay off my parents credit card debt, and spend three years making $1500 a month and banging ****** in exotic places like Kingsport and Burlington?

No doubt that Cohen is stressing these days. In two short years, he's gone from being on top of the world to being heavily dependent on a crop of incoming true freshmen in order to simply keep his job following next season.

That said, if things do fall apart again next year, it will be hard to place much blame on the draft or any 18-year-old. It will be more about the abysmal job that Cohen has done over the last two years of player development than anything else.
