I would almost guarantee that Cal not attending that tournament was a reaction to things Nike was already doing, not the other way around.
In other words, Cal snubbed them because Duke had become the favored son. Duke didn’t become the favored son because Cal snubbed them.
You can argue that Cal made the wrong move. Not sure that can ever be proven one way or another, but what are message boards for if not arguing hypotheticals?

Thanks my 22 year old is the clown and the narrator. He does all our marketing I am th go out there fix crap and scare people on the weekend. We have a ton of teenage volunteer actors so we have to good cop and bad cop it. He is the bad cop too. Lol I'm the old dad out there Lol!
Cool #7 is teammates with Wagner, I wouldn’t trust the CBS on that one.
UK is in great position for Wagner and JJ Taylor, the #1 and #3 player in the class.

I’d love to see a behind the scenes of what it takes to prep for and put on your haunted house. Not sure if you want to give away the trade secrets but would be a cool watch.

Our biggest problem is having someone there with the time to film. We are all really busy. It's kinda like a theater production we run around like crazy 2 hours before open and somehow it magically comes together.

Yeah I can only imagine. Just watching the trailer and looking at your site it’s very impressive. Just the prosthetics/costumes alone, and getting everyone into makeup is a huge undertaking. Kudos to you and your son/family!
I love Halloween, horror movies, haunted houses, etc. but my wife not so much. We went to a haunted house a while back in Lexington and my wife lost her **** lol. It was the claustrophobia more than anything.
Well, here’s my issue with that take. As you say, we don’t know what happened behind the scenes, but let’s assume you’re right.
Cal essentially gave up on the most important, can’t miss recruit because they were leaning Puke? How does that make any sense?
Cal’s let himself be played by top recruits since then, visiting them even when the insiders correctly said our odds were close to hopeless. Why would he quit on Nike then and how would that be acceptable?
Either way to me, Cal losing the recruiting battle of Nike I can live with, but giving up on it seems to be coming up short on his job description.
I’d like to go but it’s 5 hours away from me if I’m ever in the area at this time of the year I will definitely swing in. That would be definitely cool to visit!

I don’t think Cal has given up on anything. And it isn’t like he doesn’t still get Nike guys.
But I think it’s universally acknowledged that the cream of the crop started being pushed toward Duke by some combination of Nike/LeBron/Team USA 7-8 years ago.
Doesn’t mean a top Nike guy who really wants UK is going to be told no. But all things being equal...all things end up not being equal.
If you’re Cal, I’m not sure there’s much choice though. Nike is still king, there remains a lucrative relationship, and Kentucky is still getting top guys. Just fewer of the game changing variety.

There are so many ties for DJ to Cal/UK, it is hard to imagine him going anywhere but UK, unless he decides to go pro.
1. DJ’s dad played for Cal.
2. DJ’s grandpa was an assistant for Tony Barbee, a former Cal assistant.
3. DJ’s stepbrother is currently a walkon at UK.
4. One of DJ’s former HS teammates (Lance Ware) is on UK’s squad.
So I would think it would be considered a major betrayal for DJ to go anywhere to college except UK, especially a school like Duke that Cal despises. Memphis maybe an exception since it’s his dad’s alma mater. Maybe UofL, where his grandpa was a star. But not Duke.
There’s a better chance Reed Sheppard ends up at Duke than DJ. And that ain’t happening either.
I think a lot of this stuff is about Bona maybe not wanting to look like a backup plan to the public eye. String it out a little before he commits to the good guys. Bona will be a Wildcat. I give it a couple weeks
