Yet Cal still, per reports, told Bona to hold off committing. You can't recruit scared.
Where did u read he told him to hold off? It wouldn’t surprise me but I have never seen it. Jarrett Allen part 2. Cal is a moron if he told him to hold off.

You know what's worse, "La Familia"...Are we Spanish?
It’s all the same. Hell the fast and furious franchise coined “family” before cal. Before that “never go against the family”. Team = family is no different today than 50 years ago. Other than it really meant something 50 years ago because guys stayed 4 years in college and free agency in pro sports wasnt near the turnover it is today.

You know now that NiL is in play a Duke booster will just give this kid about 500,000$$ and they will disguise it somehow. Just unreal.
Theoretically we can get guys paid too now and find an NIL way to do it so it’s no longer an excuse of something to accuse others team or ***** about.

The amount of Duke fans over here means they must really be worried about returning to their pre-K status.

Duke fans discussing their players' NBA "success" in a non-ironic fashion? Is this a joke? Next thing we know we'll have UNC and Kansas fans over here discussing the value of college academics and protecting the integrity of the game.

Well both brand and boozer were all stars. Bagley is a 21 and 10 player per 36 mins just has to stay healthy. Carter pretty much has the same a
Career averages as BAM just has to stay healthy and get on a better team
Ahhh yes...the ol' iffin' game

Of course I am annoyed losing on Lively to Duke but I suspect we will add Bona and Wallace plus maybe a transfer.Any UK fan should be happy with that class. We can't get everyone but Orlando,Jai and Chin now gives us a great shot at most of them so I'm happy.
Same...wanted Lively but Bona is a dude too and I wanted him also. This class is still legit. If Wallace and Bona do come, that is a very impressive class.

Gotta be honest. I don't care. You're talking to the wrong Duke fan. 5 chips is enough for K. for the last decade, I've been all about him dispelling the myth about Duke's NBA prep and the more NBA-ready talent we get, the better. That was the only thing missing from his legacy.

And I wouldn't talk about the talent/NCAA title ratio if I were you guys.
His legacy? Gimme a break. His biggest legacy is the how he is the most complete fraud and hypocrite in sports today. Berates other teams players. Allows pure punks to intentionally play dirty in an attempt to hurt the others teams.

Take your little raggedy behind back to whatever little rat hole you crawled out of....this aint the place for you

Yes but all those guys were top 2 draft picks. Do you really think their NBA careers would be dramatically different after being top players in CBB and the #2 draft pick? I dont buy that.
Yes, I do. Duke doesn’t prepare many players well for the NBA, especially big men. Too many examples for it to be a coincidence. But check out AD, KAT, Cousins, Randall, etc. HUGE difference in the success levels.

Its funny people are saying look Dook isn't going anywhere. I will admit I am surprised they are recruiting this well with the unknown about to begin. However, if you watch a lot of Dook games they pull so many out because of **** calls. One thing I have to imagine that will happen and that is when the rat leaves those calls will go with him. Hell, their super team that didn't make the FF should have gone down in the SS to Taco and Co. But the refs screwed them and let Zon and Co. live for another game.

If they crap the bed with this talent next year then the decline will begin. The rat's shadow will be huge next year over a guy who has zero games under his belt as the head man.

That’s fine. But I prefer the FOCUS be on Duke, not the NBA. It’s not like Duke guys are starving bums after their stop in Durham. It’s about continuing to build the Duke brand which of course, includes winning. For most, college is the next step in their journey and they want it to be an amazing experience, which Duke clearly provides. JMHO.
ask Okafor if he wouldnt trade all that Duke sisterhood for KAT's nba contract. Listen these kids dont give a damn about college. They care about making money. NIL deals are not NBA contracts. Objectively, Calipari has MUCH better track record with one and done talent. Not sure if getting to the NBA is your focus and making money, Kentucky is the better bet.

I hope so, because Duke will be getting all the elite gay recruits in the near future. Lively will usher in the new era!

SMH...and you guys will be stuck with 2 and 3-star gays. And for what? Your precious homophobia?
Don’t you have to go practice for your newest madness pageant you guys always run. What’s it gonna be this year? Elton John? A new Titanic skit? Lively gonna be at the front of the ship? “I’m the king of Duke!!!”

Matthew Hurt was a top 10 recruit and never got drafted. Duke has its fair share of busts.
He was never challenged there..content with just standing out on the 3 line popping jumpers. Kid will rule the day he didn’t come here. But…that hair would have never worked here.

Sick of hearing the broken record of family and brotherhood you’ll get that crap wherever you go to play. These guys repeat it like they never heard the concept of team before
It’s a script they’re all given. Promotes unity and starts that greatest team ever bonding ********.

"I like the whole idea of the Brotherhood, Duke basketball and Duke University," Lively told ESPN. "I believe next year's team has a chance to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament and maybe a national championship. After my playing career, a Duke degree is important to me."
How many OAD players from Duke have a degree?

Name a center on this years roster. Name the top ranked centers Cal has convinced to come here in the last 10 years.

Depends on what you consider to be a center. Davis, Noel, Randle, and Adebayo were PFs in the recruiting services, but certainly played C in college. Heck, Adebayo played C for team USA this past summer.

From the perspective of recruiting rankings, Dakari Johnson, Karl Towns, and Nick Richards were all the #2 Center in their classes but were 10th, 5th, and 18th overall.

Skal was the #1 Center and #2 overall in 2015.

Even Isaiah Jackson was considered a center (7th among Centers) and #30 in the overall rankings.

Then, there is the transfers - Calipari has pulled in essentially the 3 best center transfers in the last four years in Reid Travis, Olivier Sarr, and Oscar Tshiebwe.

The main issue stems from 2019 I believe. That year we didn't land Wiseman, Stewart, Carey, or Tshiebwe. Then we missed out on Duren for this year and now Lively for 2022. These were all high-profile recruiting losses.

Cal can’t land a true center that’s going to play center. They come here they play as a forward and that may be something that’s used against us in recruiting?
Cousins was a true center when he was here and you can see in the WV tournament loss how he was used.
Or Towns vs wisconsin.

Invented the flop which is essentially cheating. It's play acting to get an advantage. It's saying I'm not good enough to play d straight up so I'm gonna gain an advantage by being dishonest

The power forwards you named are college centers and played the position at UK at least that’s the way I remember it

it always amazes me to read this board regarding recruitment.....how a target can go from "OMG HE IS AWESOME AND WILL DOMINATE HERE AT UK!" to "he sucks, we didn't want him anyway" as soon as said recruit chooses another school, is just fascinating....

Skal was number one overall and chose us, his body led to him not panning out at all. Kat was number one overall in high school then dropped but proved to be one of the best college players by far and went 1st in the draft and has succeeded pretty well in the league. Richards was in the running for SEC POY his last season. WCS was an all American his last season. Anthony Davis. Noel played great for us on a bad overall team before injury. Bam wasn't as good here as expected but was pretty good in his own right. Harrelson became way better than anyone ever even dreamed of him being and was huge in us getting to the Final 4. Then Cousins was on the '10 team 11 years ago and 12 seasons ago. Our centers have been pretty good here under Cal

Is this serious? Cousins, AD, Noel, WCS, Dakari Johnson, Bam, KAT, Collins, Oscar, and not even counting Skal, PJ, Vanderbilt because they are more forwards.

I'm not sure what you mean.
What I mean is Cals offense doesn’t utilize a guy who is a true center. He prefers guys who are 6’8”- 6’9” who can run up and down the floor over a post up center.

You guys can put your laughing emoji and all of that stuff if you want. But Cal didn’t utilize the guys he had (Cousins, Towns,). He let guards stand out there and brick threes come crunch time. JMO.

He utilized Towns like crazy in the post against ND in the tourney. That was the main reason we survived that game.

Exactly and he was the only one scoring on the second half of the Wisconsin game.
That sounds about right, though I don't remember much about that game and mostly blacked it out. LOL I have enjoyed the ND game a few times though. That game was the first time all year I seriously thought we were going to lose. It was after Connaughton nailed a long 3 to put them up by 5 or so I think with like 4 or 5 minutes left. Just given how the game was flowing at that time, I thought our season was over. Was so happy to be wrong even if the excitement was short-lived.
