Whether we get Lively or not, he is still a big and in one year of college Sharpe and Livingston will be much more valuable. Bona or a transfer will be similar to Lively I’m sure.

2 people who seem to know stuff, if you pay attention, both side this visit has nothing to do with Lively. So I'm still hoping for him tomorrow. This recruitment of his has a coach O stealth job all over it I tell ya. Remember he is a silent assassin with the big recruits. Never here a peep, no one really knows and bang, they're a CAT.

As you say, "the tea leaves seem to be trending Lively to Duke the last 48 hours" -- to say the very least !

Travis Branham made the call for Duke on the 247 website this past Friday afternoon, September 17, at 2:34 p.m. Since then, there have been six (6) more predictions of Lively to Duke, including one by Jerry Meyer and one by Chris Fisher of the Cats Pause.

Conversely, there have been zero (0) predictions on the 247 website -- ever -- that Lively would come to Kentucky. The only "brief UK momentum burst" was on this board, advanced by someposters who can only see the 'Cats recruiting, and other aspects of U.K. basketball, through blue-colored glasses.

Nevertheless ... Go 'Cats ! ! !
Exactly. I just think sometimes it’s better for our fans that are always overconfident to stfu and wait for the announcement before making us look silly.

You mean “with Nike”.
Don’t think NIL means they will stop paying players to go to Duke.
They don’t have to. Can easily do a NIL deal and go through that way. You win some battles you lose some battles. That’s the way it goes, no need to make excuses to make yourself feel better about losing out on a recruit. Don’t be like the other fan bases who say exactly what your saying when Cal wins a recruiting battle. Be better

I agree that quite commitments are great for UK under O on the staff but we haven’t had one in years so it makes us nervous.

Some swore duke would fall off the map after K retires. yeah, right... like nike or duke boosters would ever allow that to happen
Off the Map? No
Will K's retirement affect Dook's recruiting?

Name a program who lost a Coaching Legend without being affected the next few seasons.
(Joe B and Kentucky is the only one I know.)

Just my opinion, but this visit is to try and get Bona to come along with Lively. I still think Lively will commit to UK tomorrow. We will know soon enough.
like your optimism, but don't think it happens

After watching their vids, I'm not sure Bona won't turn out to be the best choice anyway. The dude flat out runs the floor like a gazelle
If Nike is hurting us so bad why doesn’t UK switch to another brand?

What other brand has won a championship lately? Whether people want to believe it or not, Nike controls the game.

Lol no you wouldn’t
If UK has to convince a recruit that UK is best for him between KENTUCKY and Duke and he’s leaning or picking duke with a brand new coach that’s never had a head coaching spot I don’t want emm.

Well that sounds about right, because I don't think you take both.
Why not take both. There will be ample playing time available for both Lively & Bona. I see Tshiebwe, Collins & Toppin all 3 leaving at the end of the upcoming season. That would leave Lance Ware as the only big coming back. So unless Ware & Bona play 40 minutes a game, we really need both Lively & Bona.

I don’t understand how any athlete with self respect could see the douchiness of Duke players and still commit there. Plus the aura of K that 🐀! Ugh.
especially when they all ready have the other big kid that likes to play outside
at UK he would have that position all to himself

Maybe Collins stays for year2? Him, Sharpe, Livingston, Skyy and Year 2 Hopkins, and/or year 3 Toppin and Ware….in that scenario we are fine without Lively.

Don’t get me wrong getting him would be awesome but not the end of the world if we miss.

None of these recruits with the Portal available are end of the world, it’s the perception from the college basketball world that it hurts. “Duke beats KY for another Top recruit crap”

Yea I don’t get why people think Duke was gonna just die starting today. And some of you are going to really **** the bed when you figure out that Scheyer might actually be a good coach. He’s smart, has already shown the ability to recruit with the best, and won a championship as a player, out of position, so he knows how to win.

I know Duke gets special treatment and that will help him, but it’s just more to the point. They’re not going anywhere. I think they’ll slow once K is totally out of the picture, but they’re not going to die.

This isn’t an Indiana situation. I know many here say this constantly but it’s just not even remotely similar. Duke has crazy influence over the media and for whatever reason, Nike prefers they do well. Indiana had none of that.

What else didn’t Indiana have? They didn’t have a guy like K willing to step down and serve as the coach in hiding to a young coach like Scheyer who’s shown damn good abilities in his own right. For the next 5 years easy, K is the General Manager and president of Duke, Scheyer is the coach.

Not only is Duke handling better than Indiana, they’re basically showing how it’s done correctly. Which is kind of funny, because I know of another program who did it very similar……Kentucky.

We’re going to have to wait and see what the NIL holds, the direction of Nike, and is Scheyer an up and comer. I see no reason at all to think he’s not.

Duke is a threat to the throne and it’s all the more reason Calipari doesn’t need to take his foot off the gas and get fat and happy. His job is to maintain our position, and that’s his only job. If someone out paces us, stop blaming everyone but him.

Duke will get Lively but Cal will follow that move with Wallace and Bona. Then we’ll see how the current roster shakes out and what we can get from the transfer portal or late bloomers. All will be fine in the BBN
We get Bona and Wallace that's an outstanding class with the #1 player. Also makes us a more perimeter oriented team which most UK fans actually want, it seems to me.

Not at all. Closer to the end of the world would be losing on Bona if he's pissed UK slowed played him.

Someone posted he was really impressed with all the rugs the coach has for his head. They treated him like a king and rolled in a hooker poll along with a wheelbarrow full of money.

Will Cal put the full court press on Bona to commit now or look at multiple options in case we don't get him? Yohan Traore maybe? Gotta think Tshiebwe and Collins will leave after the season and Ware will be the only true big man.

Duke will never catch UK morg, we lead them in every category. Except tournament winning %.

First thing,

I don't think we ever lead for Lively. If you look at his recruiting Timeline, Duke was one of the first big brand schools to offer him. Kentucky offered him a little over a month later. Cal likes to offer late in the process, for them to "prove" they deserve a scholarship.

This is just one of those times where we were late to the party. Let's not forget that we have the number one overall recruit on EVERY ranking site locked down. This is a huge get. IMO, a high level elite of the elite backcourt is more important with what Cal is trying to do with the 4 out 1 in concept. Yes, Lively is a Unicorn and I would have loved to have him, but you throw a high profile transfer big or Bona in there and I think we don't skip a beat. Plus, we might even have Collins back. Year 2 Collins could be similar to Freshman Lively, minus the jumpshot.

All i'm saying is, We good.
