Thanks for all the help! The websites are great. I'm trying to not spend more than 3000$ because we are trying to save for a down payment on a house and all that crap too... Pretty stressful for a first time home buyer. And yeaaa the whole wedding in October is pretty terrible for football season but I got it on our bye week! It's unfortunate for all of my razorback buddies up here though. She's kind of a diva and has wanted a fall wedding her whole life so we made a compromise with the bye week date luckily. And I don't want to do a cruise because she's going on one for her bachelorette party and I've never been on a cruise and don't wanna risk me getting sick the whole honeymoon because sadly I do have some motion sickness haha.

We're really rootin' for ya...

Jamaica has good value for the money. Pick a reputable all-inclusive in either Negril or Ocho Rios and don't look back. It's a short flight from Atlanta and the prices are low inside and outside the resorts. Negril and Ocho Rios are the most developed tourist sections on the island. Avoid Kingston and Montego Bay is only useful as an airport city.

We did Couples Sans Souci for our honeymoon and highly recommend it.

A few notes:

- splurge and go Caribbean or elsewhere exotic. You can do Destin on any long weekend.

- Negril is great, and price is good. Lots of stuff to do if you want to do excursions. Short flight, fly into Montego Bay and short drive. We did Couples Sweptaway and I would HIGHLY recommend.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY:
- you'll likely have to take a 6 am first-leg flight to get to wherever you're going in the Caribbean. If you have a late afternoon or evening wedding, book 2 nights wherever you're staying the first night. Start your honeymoon relaxed, not rushing to catch flights and get out of the country (especially if you've never done much traveling). Because to catch a 6 am int'l flight, you may have to get up at 3 am. For us, flights were about the same from Jackson and NOLA, so we stayed in NOLA for the first two nights. It was great.

Napa Valley. Very picturesque, and romantic. But it isn't the beach...

Hey guys I've been looking into some places to stay for my honeymoon coming up in October. Considering the fact that I'm gonna be coming right out of college in May and clearly wont have the deepest pockets I'm trying to find a reasonable place I can stay. I've been looking mostly in the St. Lucia, Barbados type areas and places and wanted to see if anyone had any advice or tips. Thanks in advance!

We honeymooned in the Napa Valley, and that was when Expedia was somewhat new (1997). Try a bed and breakfast, maybe the Silverado Resort, or just get a honeymoon package at the Embassy Suites in Napa. We had ZERO budget, relatively speaking, and made it work. Most of our budget was on airfare, and that was before it got really expensive. Tour the wineries, which usually comes with complimentary tasting, and eat at local restaurants in the valley.

It's not the traditional tropical honeymoon, but you'll have a different story to tell...

I don't have a really good answer to that haha. She was an undercover diva and tricked me is about all I can tell ya. And I've lived here for a while now so there aren't many options of sane women around here... Look at what these type of women up here did to Petrino.

Depending on your credit scores and her willingness to participate, a few new cards and a little manufactured spending could easily cover your flights and hotel. 7 months is a tight window for such a move though.

Yes. This is a must. Don't fly out till Monday.

Best advice we got.

I know you didn't want to cruise, but your budget is making this hard. Here's my advice. Spend a couple nights in New Orleans and then take a cruise (they have a few options and they're cheap and better than most expect). OR, rent a house or condo via vrbo any where from Perdido to Panama City. October is THE BEST time to hit the panhandle. And congrats on the "diva." Marriage is interesting, but great.

Damn, son. You desparate for P or to get married? To me, this sounds like it will end in divorce court, with you settling for a grand a month in child support. If you're calling her a ***** and a diva now, lord help y'all a year in. There's sane women out there to be had.

I AM thankful for this thread, though, as I've found a lot of good vacation spots for my beautiful, (mostly) sane, non-diva wife and myself. Let's face it. What woman doesn't get a little nuts around that time of the month, and during pregnancy?

1st. DS is right. 2nd. Do not plan to do a lot on your honeymoon. Its your honeymoon. You don't think so now but you will spend most of it recovering. Best advice I can give you is to not plan too much **** and enjoy being lazy. I also wish we had taken a couple of days to recover before our trip because you are exhausted.

If you want to do the Caribbean in October, then I recommend a good, all-inclusive cruise. It will be about $2k to $3k cheaper than a Sandals-type resort, and since it would be in October there would be far fewer kids on board.

Then, put that $2k in savings. If you retire in 40 years having never touched it, you'll have about $180k.

What's better? A slightly better honeymoon now, or $180k in 40 years?

I just booked round trip tix and hotel in Europe with points, so agreed. You get 50k miles just for getting the card.

Just saw this. In that case, I'm partial to vacations in the Smokies. There are some nice resorts in the Boone, NC area that have incredible views.

Haha I think the added stress of her having to pay for the entire wedding herself and us having to save to buy a house and a honeymoon all at once is just a lot for her to handle mentally and as most know women are kind of mentally unstable anyways half the time so it's not really helping the situation with all of this going on at once. And for the record I never called her a ***** haha.

Lake Tiak-O'Khata is the answer. Nice beach with a slide. Casino gambling, fine dining, and a wave pool just a short drive. The Caribbean of Winston County**

Words of advice...

A.) Don't put yourself into debt over a wedding or the ring. Money is a MAJOR stress factor in relationships.
B.) Don't buy a house right off the bat. You're young and should be spending your money on traveling and experiences...seeing as how you've never flown to places and stuff like that..
C.) There's still time to run like hell
D.) Save money at the wedding and have Chic-Fila do the catering... I've always wanted to go to a wedding where someone did this.. Moon-pie grooms cake.
E.) Good luck and God speed...

I've always wanted to see a Groom's cake cookie cake. Maybe like 5-layered.

+1 for all-inclusive carribean resort. Honeymooned in Cozumel 22 years ago. Absolutely had a blast. Food, intertainment, snorkeling, and alcohol was all included. Chose cozumel because it was what I could afford.

outside the box...

Unless you are absolutely committed to the Caribbean, let me suggest an alternative. Having been married 45 years and being a romantic at heart, I have taken my bride to many romantic locales. For the $$$ being kicked around in this thread, drive to ATL and take Delta direct to Venice (VCE). You have an Adriatic Beach there if you stay on Lido or you can stay on the Grand Canal. That's my wife's favorite city - going back in 10 days. Thank me later.

Why not Oktibbeha County Lake? The great Rick ********** built it and it has 2 slides.

Practically the Caribbean of MSU.

PS. Could probably get Hobie to ring a cowbell for you and everything
