Player Least Likely to Surprise

Playing off the "Surprise Player" thread, which major player do you feel will be the least likely to surprise us this year? In other words, which player among our top 12 is most likely to meet whatever expectations we fans might have.

It is so easy to imagine most of our major players surprising us either because their potential is still untapped, we haven't seen them in UK blue before, or we haven't seen what they can do when surrounded by talent and depth. But for me, I'd have to go with Davion Mintz here. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple games where his experience and familiarity stand out over more talented players, or he gets into a groove and leads us in scoring a particular game. But overall, I think we can expect him to neither take over games, nor totally disappear, and he'll play an important team player role for us, a reliable sixth or seventh man who gives us a steady presence from a shooting and A/TO perspective. I think his reliability is why so many of us were so excited to have him back in the first place.

Even though we haven't seen Grady play in UK blue yet, I'd give him the next nod. I think he'll be the scorer most of us think he'll be and don't see him disappointing.

I think it could be Grady, he is seasoned and is a leader by teaching the others how to prepare like a pro and he is more then a shooter. He is a team player that will make the others better.

Ware. I don't expect much more from him than he showed last season. From that standpoint, I don't expect him to surprise us.
I disagree a little. Let me explain tho as I agree Ware didn't show much. But he also had a very limited summer coming in and was forced into some playing time early. The one thing I did like about his play was he didn't mind to be physical and had some bulk to him. Give him a full year of weights and a restriction free off season, combined with an assistant coach in Antiqua who is known to be really good at developing bigs and he has the potential for the biggest leap improvement. Here is to hoping cause if he can become a solid back up we shore up inside depth alot

Mintz. You know exactly what you’re getting with him.

It'll be one of the older guys.

After 3 or 4 years of college bball, with most guys you are going to get pretty much what you expect from them at that point. It's not to say they couldn't surprise, it's just more unlikely IMO

Will he even get any minutes to show anything this year? If Oscar stays out of foul trouble and Collins / Brooks play well, and then there's Hopkins ...

Oscar…I don’t think he has a huge ceiling and should be around a 10ppg & 8rpg type player!

That’s my pick. I expect him to have some decent rebounding games and a performance when we get in foul trouble that may save a game or two. Other than that anything else is butter.

Alot depends on what you just said. If Collins is ready then he probably won't play much. I jus see the potential for improvement based 9n the circumstances but it's all just soeculation

Fredrick. Coming off an injury, and with a lot of guys to compete against for playing time. Will be in competition with Allen for the 5th man in the 1-3 rotation.
