that name is being thrown around on message boards and seems to have some momentum. Not a good fit and I hate his style. Absolutely hate it.
What's his style?
You ever watch Pitt play under him? 65 points is considered high scoring for Howland. And think Bob Huggins at Cincy on defense back when you could maul offensive players. Those days are over.

Howland switched to an up-tempo scheme his last year at UCLA. He had said he's not going back.
If true not a great hire. Has to be better candidates out there like Chris Mack at Xavier or Greg Marshall at Wichita State. Not saying they would even consider leaving but those are the young type coaches we should be looking at. Howland has been out of coaching for a few years and if considered that good how come still sitting at home. Hell if that good and if he's that interested why hasn't bama snatched him up already. IMO we have to do much better this time around and can afford to do so.

Howland went to more of a fast-break, up-tempo offense in his final season, and the Bruins went from 69 points a game the year before to 74 per game, winning the Pac-12 regular season with a 13-5 record.
They were routed in their NCAA tournament opener by Minnesota, and Howland was out.
He's sorry he didn't play faster sooner.
"It's something I should have done much earlier in my career," he says. "That is a regret, because I thought it really helped us. (Arizona coach) Sean Miller told me this fall it was really tough for them to deal with how much we pushed the ball. We beat them three times that year. That's something — pushing the tempo — that I'll always do moving forward. It really helped."

I’m not sure a point that took 5 years to make is a strong one. We could have done much worse, but he is washed up and routinely gets embarrassed by bad teams.
Just a fun little throwback post.
I love a good bump from 5 years ago. Maybe his teams are frustrating at times but it’s a much better product then before he came here.
