have to see it to believe it

heard this for too many summers & it never happens

We've had the top recruiting class in like half the seasons that Cal has been here and the #2 class in 3 or so other seasons. It's getting the second-tier guys to hang around that is the problem.

See you get a kid like Sharpe, along with what the roster is looking like, I think you immediately become the top team in the nation. I know there will be pressure but that shouldn't be an excuse either. There will be high standards and rightfully so, because this would be the most talent on campus in at least 4 years.

There’s a big difference between being number one by a country mile, being number one with a couple teams close behind, and being number one with very little in terms of plug and play prospects.

This is like the scene in Jerry Maguire, where Cal will sign Sharpe and be riding down the road singing "Free Fallin'" at the top of his lungs as it plays on the radio.

And then Sharpe will go G League.

I'm hearing Sharpe and Bona to KY, and Lively and Mitchell to Duke. I don't know anything myself, but the folks I'm hearing it from are right more than they are wrong by a wide margin. I'm not sure anyone knows for sure except the kids, if they even know yet. Haven't heard jack on Wallace.

When you have to recruit an entire roster each year, you're going to at least have a top 5 recruiting class and when you're UK, it's really not all that hard to get the #1 class when everyone else (but duke) is recruiting program kids.

Lets also not act like Duke hasn’t owned Cal the last 6 years, we have been settling for Cal's 2nd and 3rd options while duke has been getting the top shelf guys.

Now Michigan and Memphis are in on it. Recruiting titles mean nothing, we haven't had a top shelf kid in a long time.

LOL. Only on Rupp Rafters. Talk to fans of programs that have not had a Top Five recruiting class in 20 years, and the nuances of "Number One Classes" probably don't seem as sharply defined.
Do you realize 99% of your posts are attacks and condescending comments towards other posters for their opinions?

Why are you so bothered by what others have to say? We just went 9-16 and we haven't been the gold standard since 2015, even though the 9 million dollar man tells us we are everytime he does his carnival barker routine.

I'm not even sure Lively even knows where he's going yet, so I have no clue how anyone else would know.

I'd imagine we will return a lot of players from this years' squad for next year, at least more so than in the past. Guys like Fredrick, Allen, Toppin, Ware, and Hopkins are all likely to come back (maybe they transfer, but who knows). Meanwhile, Wheeler, Collins, Brooks, and Tshiebwe are also potential returnees based on draft projections so adding Sharpe to that to replace Washington/Mintz/Grady is a massive get.

I will just sit here and wait nicely for any commits. I just can’t seem to get excited about recruiting any longer. Guess I’m old.
I don't think you’re getting too old, I just think the mushroom treatment we have been getting the last 6 years has gotten very old. Nobody likes to be consistently kept in the dark and fed sh*t, then have the rug pulled out from under them.
