Have a friend who is likely walking away from a $90k/year job managing a fitness center because she refuses to get vaxxed. Her current backup plan is to make much less than half that.

- Anecdotally - I’ve found the cause to be mostly young, dumb, “religious” women whose first names are spelled in an atypical and stupid manner.
- I sometimes wonder just how far away I am from wearing novelty dad gear - 20 years? 10 years? Next year?

At this point, the unvaccinated are basically holding the rest of the country hostage. Their political beliefs are more important to them than their families, friends, coworkers, and their country. Politicians control their brains. Common sense isn’t even an option.
What are the super Democrat African American community’s political beliefs that are holding them back?
-Excited to see the Levis era but will temper expectations. Was pulling for Gatewood because I believe in putting in your time but if you don’t win, you don’t win. I just want the best option out there. I wish Joey would stay this year because in the SEC, you need a proven backup but I can’t fault him for exploring options. I wish him the best.
-Fiancé tested positive for Covid yesterday. High fever, slight cough, and very tired. Otherwise so far so good. Has to quarantine for 10 days which means she’s good to get out on the 25th. Our wedding is on the 28th and leave out for Dominican on the 29th. Let’s hope everything works out. I just hope things don’t get worse due to her being at risk because of having stage three thyroid cancer when she was 18. Alternating Motrin and Tylenol, plenty of fluids, and taking zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin C every day. Where I have been vaxed, they said I can resume normal but watch for symptoms. So far so good for me.

Re: Afghanistan... If you're holding onto the outside of a plane that's taking off you're either:
a) So terrified of getting captured, tortured and killed by the Taliban that you'll try anything

Today I was in tears thinking about the whole “War on Terror” and the damage it has caused on all sides.
I thought about my friends who I served with who have suffered from PTSD, addiction, homelessness, difficulty managing any type of healthy relationship with their loved ones, and suicide...
Then I thought how we also f*cked up two 3rd world countries and how many decent families we probably f*cked up as well and caused more problems.
Was what we did over there honorable? Did we accomplish anything? Was it worth it? Why do I still care about this and dream about it?
Trying to process all of these thoughts throughout the day was pretty hard.

That’s what happens when you’re not allowed to really take a country anymore. Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Iraq and now Afghanistan is the new way and it’s expensive in every facet and the end result doesn’t change anything. Everyone knows it and just waited for us to do it again. But hey, it’s only taxpayers money and lives so they’ll continue this tradition.
That is profoundly sad to read, but please know that your countrymen are proud of you and your fellow soldiers, jcrow. And we are forever thankful. You all kept us and our families safe, and did so bravely.

We lost almost 3000 people on 9/11/2001.
We’ve lost that plus thousands more young men and women over there trying to avenge those nearly 3000 deaths.

For real thanks jcrow. I’m going to refrain from comment other than to say I can’t imagine how hard all of this must be on people who served, people left behind, etc. Know a couple of people in that situation and words seem pretty meaningless tbh.

Tuesday (is it only Tuesday?) shitdos:
- 6:30 am email about getting my biggest sale EVAH! TBF, if you have it and they need it makes the gig pretty easy from a selling standpoint these days.
- Sea World this weekend. Never been but want to go back. It was nothing like I expected it to be. The roller coasters are awesome. The sea lions and whales (I can look past the captivity and fake virtue of the trainers wearing masks for the animals) and enjoy the show. They have a beer festival going on in the park so was drinking/eating for 9 hours while watching the post-covid apocalypse unfold in over-stretched yoga pants seeking out hamburgers and yelling at kids. It was all great!
- Not really seeing the upgrade in politicians we were promised by many. Wish people would realize how badly identity politics are ruining us. Many things can be true. We should have never been in Afghanistan for 20 years. If we were going there, we should have had a clear goal and exit strategy. We also could have planned our exit better. Hopefully our troops never have to deploy to that ******** again, those we lost RIP and those that came home can get the help and support they need.
- Piggy-back on that. Since we have screwed labor up so bad, working out a deal with the connections my brother made in placing former military in civilian jobs. More companies than ever are realizing it's a great labor pool and a lot less entitlement from those that have served.
- Stopping short of denying medical service. I'm actually quite appalled at the thought. Doesn't mean I don't hope people make better decisions but not the precedence I want to see set after living through some of the most asinine government mandates man could have thought up that are still ongoing.
- Had to skip lawn care this weekend. My pup jumped about 2 feet back last night when a foot long strand of grass popped up after he stepped on it and grazed his dog hog. That alone will make the extra 30 mins to cut it this Sat worth it.
- Ordered the new Samsung flip phone. Never quite got over having to give up my Razr.
- Wife and I binged Ted Lasso the last couple nights. Can't get enough of it. Roy is my favorite character by a lot. Not sure I identify with a character more than I do with his.
- Back to the grind.
