Buchanon Co is just removed from the rest of society. 90% of my family is still there, but I havent been back except once in 30-35 yrs. When the coal died that entire county just shut TF down.

-Old school slim jims are fantastic. Great call. Can't imagine they contain any meat.

-Canceling dinger, rather than admitting they made a mistake. Beautiful.

-I don't get why apologizing is so difficult for some people. Deal with it at work all the time. I respect the hell out of a genuine apology.

-Well documented I worship summer storms but a Monday 2p storm is not great. Struggle is real.

-Smash burger takes literally 2 minutes to make. I guess if you're really hankering, and not willing to make it, go to a bowling alley or Steak n Shake. Personally, if I'm eating fast food, it's something I can't cook a better version of like CFA spicy chicken sandwich or egg mcmuffin. Smash burger seems like a waste.

-Much like having a baby, renting, and doing a renovation all at the same time.... not properly formatting a long set of randoms is a REALLY bad idea. Space that **** out cut_itloose.

-Not keeping score is horse ****. Getting a medal at the end of the season is fine.

-Cal Ripken is dumb. If you can't play for the dream of Williamsport, then you're in the wrong league.

-Would love to disagree with old Brooksie on racism but a drive across south central KY this weekend suggests otherwise. Apparently, they're still disappointed in that 160 year old *** kicking and intend to rise again.

-Just learning how relieved my parents were when we started back to school.

-Coke in foil, brown paper bag, Doritos, ham and cheese sandwich. Amazing.

Discman queued up. Trying to get some hand holding action at Stage 1 and a trip to the double decker McD's? Field trip days were the best.

Hurley is awesome if for nothing more than that amazing football field (I assume it's still there).

First, stop putting sauce on your burger. Then, go buy a couple pounds of beef and freeze them in individual packs. We have ground beef pretty much all the time. Granted we cook almost all our dinners at the house.

The Cliff.

Pops played and coached there. Was the head coach at Garden then principal at Grundy as well. Both parents went to Hurley High as did most of my kin folk. The Garden/Hurley rivalry in the early 80's was downright illegal. Grundy was more concerned with their wrestling program than football.

our team has been decimated by travel ball. May be nearing the end of an era for our kids. Had most of them since they were 5, but times are changing. Also, ht to Huber and the bat jackets program. They have embraced the travel ball/league balance and are thriving. Not at the level of lex, but they’ve improved quite a bit.
@B Rax

We've done a decent job and mixing travel with rec, but those of us with the better players are wanting to turn things up and get this group much more competitive. Not NV Stars level, but at a level we can compete against any of the Lex teams toe to toe in the future. Hard to do when you have a small population like Woodford has so we are opening the team up to kids outside the county and will make it a year round commitment. Tryout signup's and have been impressive with plenty of kids from Lex and Nicholasville signing up to tryout and have 3 former college players on the coaching staff help. Mostly early Spring tourneys with some practice thrown in throughout the fall winter so kids can play other sports. (Mine plays travel soccer for Kings Hammer)

With that said, where do you think things went downhill B Rax? Would be nice not to make the same mistakes. Especially for freaking 7 & 8 year olds. Hate to hear that about your kid's team!

Because I’m considering a blackstone, do you not mix stuff into your smash burgers? Still just use S&P only?

I feel like I’d use/mix all the left over briskets, ribs etc and smash it all together. Maybe some onions, occasionally peppers etc.

Im legit feeling like I’m overthinking it, but at the same time if it’s just S&P on some burgers the only real advantage to a black stone is hibachi? Big breakfast? Fajitas?

krazy I think you are overthinking it because I have no clue how you'd manage to smash brisket or ribs in to a smash burger. Unless you're talking about grinding your own ground beef.

Even when participating in a league that doesn’t officially keep score, the kids playing the games end up keeping score and announcing whether or not they won or lost.

Secondly, the unofficial reason the majority of these kids leagues don’t keep official score is to avoid psychotic behavior from ADULTS (as either coaches or parents) and not to shield children from the pain of failure.

OK then, how are the Lexington / Louisville teams doing in the Cal Ripken tournament ? Did they win the state tournament ? Have they won in the US tournament ? Recently, have they won the whole GD Cal Ripken League World Series ? You can twist it that they play Cal Ripken, that is fine, I get it. But have they won anything ???? That was MY reasoning that Warren Co. runs **** in Little League. Is Cal Ripken considered the cream of the crop ? Honest question because I have never watched a Cal Ripken WORLD Series. I have seen US tournaments, but not world.
South Lex 9’s and 12’s won the Ohio valley regional (basically means they qualified for the equivalent of the LLWS). May have been some other age groups from there that won as well, but I only know those 2 did.

LLWS is infinitely more prominent tho. I’ll give you that. But they also play from the same distances (mound and base paths) as 9 year olds do. Can’t lead off either. And are on smaller fields.

Cal Ripken is simply more of a progression as they get older. Longer distances, can lead off, bigger fields.

Still a major accomplishment. Just prefer cal Ripken and hate the fact it isn’t as marketed or televised.

There will always be racism as long as people look different. You know what other countries are racist? Every single ******* one of them. Would a white or black athlete ever make the Olympics for China?

how many POC did all of the liberal fantasy euro countries field in the olympics?

America is still the best country to live in as a minority.

but yes, a short travel through nearly any county in this state will prove that a lot of people still prefer being with and around people that look like them. That attitude is not Made in America.

I have to admit, I think the scoreless system is dumb but reading catsfan posts sometimes, I did connect the dots that probably every LL/Ripken park has an insane dad that takes it too seriously while sucking all of the fun out of it for the kids. We know who that is for Warren Co.

Man I’d love some Cajun Alfredo right now! Been way too long.

Hopefully the Cubs can help the reds out in this series. I seriously doubt we can pull 1 game off though.

After school shopping this weekend, I can honestly say Under Armour shoes are so far behind the competition it’s silly. Which sucks because all my kids want is under armour clothes/backpack.

Middle school is where the clowning starts so this should be fun to watch their progression on appearance.

I hear the n word here more than the Rockies game

rack to south lex teams smoking Warren’s LL teams. Our region is us, SE and South Lex in the cal Ripken state tourney. And somehow those 2 teams always get put in different sides of the bracket. Crazy.

“people are always surprised when they find out how tall and broad shouldered I am”
Your hearing is about as good as your eye site for baseball talent. You DID NOT hear the N word, and Warren Co would murk yalls Cal Ripken teams. The reason you play in the generic Cal Ripken B league is to not have to face the cream of crop, the big dawgs, the PTPers. Beat the best teams in the WORLD then holla back.

Cal Ripken LL, pffft, Ninja please.

I know I've said it before, but you Ripken/LL dads really do need to take your kids up to Williamsport sometime for the LLWS. It's a great scene. Glad it's back this year, always makes for good Saturday afternoon viewing after coming in from doing yard work.

I agree fields should be more proportional to their age, at some point a good team will turn into a softball team against an inferior opponent at those dimensions. I'm not sure an 11-12 year old, though, needs to worry about picking a kid off first, not sure if mound distance is same but would be concerned about arms (but since a lot play at that distance, probably not so much). The fact Ripken isn't marketed/televised isn't a bad thing.

Maybe when all of these kids get older there should be a way to determine which group of kids is the overall best. Maybe group the teams by county or by neighborhood for the larger cities. I'm guessing Bowling Green would rack up on championships if something like that existed.

American Legion ball, 16-18 years old was/is huge in northeast. Could only play for town, try-outs. So Catholic school kids, boarding school kids home for summer, would play with local high school kids.

So, the “real” Ford Broncos have hit the streets now, and they are still diminutive little things. Not a Bronco by any stretch of the imagination. They don’t even look new Ranger frame big. Just a little jeep thing for the jeep girls. OJ will be pissed.

Surely someone here has one now?
Not sure which Bronco you saw on the steets, but the OBX Model Ive ordered is still a few months from being delivered (something with glass composite roof being the drag).
The model I have coming is as big or bigger than a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and the Toyota 4Runner. It is not one of those little SUVs that have been out a few months now. Like 190in long, 80in wide and 75in tall --- not escalade bus size but difinintly not a suzuzki either lol
