Doesn’t sound good about Sharpe. I’ve heard people say it’s a done deal, but it’s far from a done deal. I’m gonna guess he goes G-League route!

I’m afraid there will never be any done deals again when there are professional opportunities.
That said, if GD friggin’ Memphis can get Duren for a year there’s no way in the world UK shouldn't be able to get Sharpe and Lively for a year.

Well the one positive is the last few recruits that listed the gleague as an option ended up choosing a college. Dior Johnson , Dariq Whitehead and Jalen Duren. I might be missing someone .

Maybe Nick Smith and Sharpe are being recruited as a who ever commits first deal. They both are close to the same size and same skill set so maybe Cal knows G League is an option so just casting a wider net.

I think the thought is that Cal wants Sharpe over all else. I kinda get the “first to commit” vibe more so from Smith/Wallace. Wallace could coexist with either. I think Wallace is like 6’5” so he could easily play the 3 with his athleticism.

I agree fully. And Wallace is far more suited as a combo (who does everything else well too) than Smith. Smith wants to hunt his shot too often.

This is what gets fans worked up when insiders put out there that a player is a lock and unless a player says this himself then how would anyone know. One insider says it then everyone piggy backs off that because Cal and I hope the staff are not leaking info.
So how would anyone know who Calipari prefers. All three have similar skill set from what I’ve read and I can’t see him taking all three

All 3 could easily be at UK--Wallace would play the PG spot and other 2 on wings. Will it happen? Not with how things stand now. But if they only get 1 of the 3--something awful happened.

Which do you think is more likely? That we get all three or get ONLY one?

Kids are just different today as say 20-30 years ago. Years ago kids played for the school as today it who ever can get them to the league fast. I just wait and see who is on the court comes playing time.

This. I think Sharpe is priority number 1, and rightfully so. Him and Wallace seem to be the best two of those three. Don’t get me wrong, I would like to have Smith as well. Just not sure there will be enough room for all three.

The timeline of all these guys will be a factor too.

Obviously Sharpe is supposed to pop soon, but what Smith/Wallace want to do and when also depends on what Clark wants to do and when.

Gonna be really tricky. I think we can mess it up and do okay, but to get it really right, gotta do a lot of proper juggling.

This will be where we hopefully see a change from what Ralph described as us knowing tomorrow's news after it happens instead of the day before.

All the talk about a new staff and such. This is when they need to prove they are worth the enormous paychecks.

Duren was a long shot in my eyes. The roster was already set and adding him this late, I just didn’t see it happening.

I give them a pass on that one.

But they have been here all summer and have had time to work their magic.

Time to reel in the big fish.

Sharpe needs to be locked up soon.

Well stated and completely agree. Only thing is Duren was a guy they led for so long.....it's just awful to lose him to another CBB program. If they lost him to the G-League, it's understandable, but to Memphis is a tough pill to swallow for Cal. He can "love his team" all he wants but he got beat on a guy who was seen as a UK lean for 2 1/2 yrs.

Duren was the make or break like I said. If you can’t land a guy like that who was heavy on UK and gets paid at Memphis then lean times are ahead. These guys are going to see how nil works out at UK compared to schools like Memphis that have enormous resources. G league isn’t a threat to anything unless they start paying 1 million for these guys. Duren will make a lot of fedex money with bates. I think these guys use cal and UK to find better situations. Kentucky is getting beat every time you turn around. Soon the next year next year crowd will be saying 2023 is the class.
