Oscar, Brooks, Toppin, Collins, Ware, Hopkins. Size, experience and young talent.

Kentucky fans have no reason to cry over the front court, especially when the team was explicitly designed around the frontcourt/perimeter —you know, the up-to-date game everyone here has been agitating for.

Because we could have had Kofi but Cal goes all in on a player that isnt going to pick us and we all knew it but Cal. He found out today and sends out that “I like my team” same garbage as all the other years when he can’t close the deal.
Cal needs to quit with the "I like my team" crap. That makes him sound like a rec center playground supervisor. He's done a lot of positive things after the debacle that was '21 season, but this passive Jackie Moon "ELE" bull**** needs to go.

FedEx paying the big $.
Of course. it’s now a matter of “which college can i go to to make the most $$$?” top recruits are going to go where they can get the best deal. school tradition, facilities, hof coaches etc., are way down the list of priorities from now on. recruiting wise the playing field is tilting drastically. new world order of college sports.

Maybe they don’t want to sacrifice their skill set to play an archaic defense and offense and get yelled at constantly? Just maybe. These types are going to the nba regardless.
People here complained because all we had were one a done’s and now that we have a ton of experience, they complain because we miss on a one and done that would take time away from a multi year player. The IQ here is less than 50 and the hypocrisy is epic.

It has to be FedEx money because it certainly isn't Penny's coaching or developing ability. lol

Oh, well. Duren won't do much at Memphis besides getting Penny through another year without getting fired.

I’ll say this, if we get knocked out of the tournament due to foul trouble down low or poor post play then Cal should feel a bonfire under his ***. There’s just no excuse not to have gotten Kofi. Dude practically was begging to come and Cal wouldn’t even take a damn phone call from him.

He literally has to deliver on what should be a monster haul in '22 based on not just where UK is on guy's lists but where they are in decision making process. UK whiffs on the guys they are on now, you are 100% correct.
I'll believe it when I see it.Cal's not a closer anymore.

This season comes down to Tshiebwe, Collins, Hopkins, Brooks, and Toppin. If these guys can match/come close to matching what we are going to have from our PG/SG spots then UK is going to be dang-er-ous.

Seems like a sweet 16 type team IMO unless someone like Tyty becomes a star.

I do like that Duren chose CBB route though. I hate the G-League's existence for recruiting HS guys who should be able to just enter the NBA Draft out of HS if they want to play Professionally.

Duren going to CBB is good for the sport and sign NIL is going to help CBB fight off G-League and force NBA to go to what's right--letting HS kids enter the NBA Draft after SR year of HS.

1,000 times this, @ralphdaltonfan!
It's one thing to say when you have a great team, guys who share/sacrifice, but this "they are great guys. etc....." and saying it every year no matter what......it's meaningless. One thing everyone can accept is warranted praise or criticism but empty praise falls on deaf ears just like yelling at players for no reason does.

Cal's got to ditch the canned cliches and come real again. Or move aside and let a real dude get in his chair. The staff he's got now will get him big time talent and that hopefully starts showing up in commitment column by end of Month, but getting hustled and outworked by someone who has a unique and individual pitch rather than a canned sell to each guy.....it's tired.

Damn coaches on the hot seat can sure pull in top 5 recruits.

This one can. lol

He hasn't been lighting it up since he's been hired at Memphis. Once his recruiting runs dry, and it will, he will be fired.

He's bad at what he does. FedEx is certainly delivering in recruits.

To hell with these top 5 players. There is enough talent on hand, mixed in with a more veteran roster, to win with. With the salary Cal commands and the talent he has, if he is a hall of fame coach, he should win big. No excuses. Recruiting classes are just one piece of the puzzle. Time to start earning that money again. There's enough talent on hand to do so.

Unbelievable to me how many people believe this “Cal turned down Kofi for Duren” nonsense. Just a completely fabricated story that y’all took and ran with. You’re telling me I was on this board saying we wouldn’t get Duren, and somehow Cal didn’t realize it too?

Missing on the top guys has become a major problem with Cal.Hopefully it changes next season but I have doubts.
Is that a problem for you? Getting 5 stars isn’t good enough? Just mix 5 stars with experience. It’s nice to get a top 5 player but we certainly don’t need one. We need experience. And we now have that

Durens skill set fits an archaic offense and defense. He's an old style 6'9.5" center with crazy long arms but no outside shot and a questionable motor. If anyone was expecting AD 2.0, he's miles from that.
