“Wynn
- You know, I’m a free agent anymore on political/cultural issues. I have no sides, ideologies, whatever. But I will say this. This country should have mandated vaccines six months ago. No vaccine, you get no tax refund, stimulus check, unemployment benefits, child tax credit payment, whatever. If you want to go it alone, fine, that’s your choice, but you don’t get **** from the government hereafter.”

-Great idea. The president can forcefully make the entire country do whatever he wants. Doesn’t set a bad precedent at all, as far as I can envision.

-BMI means absolutely squat to a bodybuilder or power lifter. It’s for normal fats and skinny people. I’m 5’11ish and 190-195 and it says I need to lose at least 23 pounds to break into the “normal” category. Meanwhile my body fat is about 11-13%. So I guess I should be a skinny ***** to be healthy.

-I’m dumb(obviously) and didn’t realize there were 31 days in July so I took off the 1st so I’d have a day off before going back to work, we’ll have two days off now. Not mad though.

-Took my boy Buster out for a looooong walk on Duval last night, as my friends are great for watching him while I was gone but I know he got out to pee and that was it, he’s only 6 months and already great at walking through 100s of people and not getting distracted. Love that dude.

He’ll be hitting the pool with his buddy Turkey this afternoon for sure.

-2 a days almost everyday back home and sore as heck. Should probably take the day off but here we are training back.

-On a 2 beer/day limit right now until I lose this little bit of belly fat and my abs are popping again. No fun but damn I feel good in the morning and wake up at 6:30-7 no problem.

Flying home today, fantastic trip.

Seattle: Somehow a little weirder since I was there in 2017. Pike Place still awesome. First ever Starbucks with a 2-hour wait. Mariners game, beautiful stadium. First ever involvement in a fight between fans. Thug Dodger fan with Nats neck tattoo (🤷‍♂️) and a Mariners fan. Had to push both of them off of me. They got tossed. Toured the underground where grunge started and had a beer at The Central. Tour guide went to high school with Cantrell and Staley.

Mt. St. Helens, 41 years later can still see alot of the effects of the flow.

Crater Lake, incredible. Almost 2,000 feet deep, no feeding rivers or streams so it is pristine. Looks like a sheet of blue glass.

Portland, dump. Random tent cities everywhere, graffiti on anything that will hold paint.

Bend, got a "Be Kind, Rewind" trucker hat at the last Blockbuster on earth.

Redwoods, amazing. Saw the giant sequoias in southern California several years ago, but those are isolated trees. Redwoods are taller and not quite as big around, but there's a whole forest of them. Drove the Chevy Spark through a tree.

Reno, has seen its better days. Depressing really. Most of the casinos didn't even have their table games open. Blew $100 on craps rolling by myself and called it a night.

Lake Tahoe, incredible. Couldn't draw up a resort town any better. Beaches in the summer, skiing in the winter. Perfection.

Bonneville Salt Flats, as stated previously, cool as hell. You drive down to the end of this road and then all of a sudden there it is, just acres and acres of nothing but flat salt bed. So much fun to just floor the gas pedal and go.

Salt Lake City, decent town. Great Salt Lake not so "Great" right now because of a horrible drought. Water is really low and it stinks to high heaven at the water. Also covered up in brine flies.

Several elk (got way too close to a herd on a morning run), mule deer, black-tailed deer, pronghorn, bison, and one bear standing on the side of I-80 west of Reno.

Oregon was my 50th state.

Visited Cal Poly SLO yesterday. $25k/yr all in including RB. Cool little downtown. Yes sir. It is on the consideration list for the peeps.

Speaking of cool downtown areas, Santa Barbara may just be the greatest place on earth. Business trip there the past few days. Wow. That’s all I have to say.

People getting triggered about the volleyball outfits really need to head to the beach. SoCal beaches are basically “let’s wear as little clothing as possible” right now. Fan.

99% sure I’ve had the Delta variant. Fully vaxed. Whatever. It’s a bad cold.

Back to work office policies…get your butts back in the seats. So sick of this ***** soft triggered mindset.

Have heard from several people Santa Barbara is the best place in California. I hope to visit some day.

  • Complain about Wake Forest all you want, Kentucky Country Day costs about $25K per year and it’s K-12. Provided that they don’t raise tuition and you’d make 0% on the return of that money over the 13 years your kid is in school, you’re out $325K by graduation day - and you still have college payments to look forward to. At 5% interest you’re at $465K on high school graduation day. 5% for the four years they’re at college and you could hand them a check for $565K on their college graduation day if they went to public school. Or buy a pretty nice condo in Vail for yourself. Either way, I’ll take my chances with Chris Kolb over sending my kids to KCD.
  • Was going to recommend a tag team bout in this fight with Wynn. He gets PTI and I get Rogue. Then Rogue went with #TeamDuffy so he’s f’ing out! Give me Pretzel instead. Let’s go!
  • Wife went out of town with her friends for the weekend. Just a stupid move on her part in terms of the health and safety of our kids. It’s like Lord of the Flies over here right now. One kid just woke up, the other has been jumping off the wall onto the trampoline since 7AM, the third had popsicles for breakfast. The blind, diabetic dog just looking at me like “dude, don’t forget to give me insulin this weekend like you forgot last time.” Bedlam!
  • This period of sports from now until college football starts is just such a dead period. Especially when the Braves big trade is for a “slugger” hitting .192. I guess Chris Davis wasn’t available. I wish there was some global sporting event to watch. Too bad.

I try not to hate or disparage anyone’s hobbies but waiting 2hours for a cup of coffee so you can take a pic and go home to tell your friends you had coffee at the first Starbucks ever is up there man.

I mean, in general I don’t think most anyone wants to see your 342 pics from a vacation they weren’t on. “Oh look the Parthenon, seen it a million times in pics/web, BUT this time you’re there…cool.”

If someone told me they were at the first Starbucks ever and waited two hours, I would just say, “stop, I sincerely could not give less of a touch about the rest of this story, Jen.”

@WayneDougan ... move to Oldham Co. Get free public education that’s probably comparable to KCD (if not, better). As long as it’s not the shitshow that JCPS is. My in-laws sent their kids to Collegiate and StX/SHA and spent tons to avoid the riff raff... judging by the outcome, it was an effing waste 🤣.

I will complain, lightly, about WFU- cost. The school was clearly the best out of the 4 visited.
Not ruling it out, but my kid can prolly get aid and grants and other stuff to make an educated apples-apples comparison to UK. he’s prolly going into a field that will require post-bachelor work, so he can transfer out or go to a tony graduate school.

Gonna do a Virginia run too(Richmond, W&M, UVA). Why not at this point.

Saw UK Pres Capiluto donning a gigantic mask in a tweet during an interior service for Sandy Bell yesterday

A.) No doubt he’s vaxxed
B.) No doubt he’ll ratchet up Delta restrictions regardless of science

If you like a good Jesuit Catholic University...Check out the prices on a ND, BC, Villanova or Georgetown education these days. Holy Moly.

I ruled out Wake when they told me I should plan on 56k in loans the first year, rising by 5-7k the following two. That was 2010 so shew inflation got them good, I guess.

ND is not Jesuit. They’ll drop gloves on you for inferring that ****.

William & Mary and UVa are both awesome.

You can get a 4 year degree at any state school in Kentucky for $40-50,000. They’ll need money for food/clothing/phone/etc so you give them a monthly budget. What’s fair these days? $600?

Beyond that, the kid gets a job.

You’ve just saved yourself hundreds of thousands of dollars, your child a lifetime of debt, and you’ve taught them the skill that is most valued in the marketplace (how to work). Come on, y’all. This stuff really isn’t that hard.

I thought the reason to post vacation pics is to flex on people who don’t have the means to go on cool trips.
The real flex is to move to a popular island destination and just post your everyday life on a Wednesday cruising the Gulf with some ladies while Neil is sitting in a cubicle counting down the days where he can finally do that for one whole week, JMHO. 🤠

If you had a kid whose qualified and motivated to excel in a competitive educational environment, your sights may/should be a little higher than what UK offers. Some things aren’t solely based upon finding the cheapest option.

We will push him in the direction of UK, and if someone offers him cash or ride and makes a compelling argument... then that’s his choice.

I chose UK because my parents didn’t foot one cent of my education and I was paying. I don’t want him to be shoehorned when he doesn’t have to. Additionally, it was nice to know of the schools who accepted me that I couldn’t afford... just to know where you stack up. RISD, Cuse, Maryland, were cut.

My parents had the means, and it still absolutely did NOT go down like that. Because it’s their money and I was a child.

In their defense, whatever they paid for seems to have failed you so they were right.

- Just finished up a big brunch. My favorite! Chorizo Sausage, Bacon, Cantaloupe, Eggs(scrambled for the kids, fried for me), and biscuits!

Shew, it may not be a gourmet restaurant, but I’d take this as my last meal if I had to choose!

- Sold 2 more barrels today. No more 9yr rye is left. Thankfully I’ve kept a bottle or 2 from each barrel.

- I hate spending money to get my grass cut, but it sure is nice watching him do his job while I’m occupied doing other stuff. $40 a week for a big hill on about an acre.

- Back to unpacking

Feel bad for those of you whose kids aren’t clearly getting full rides to whatever college they want to attend.

Maybe GYERO isn’t the thread for you if that’s the case.

I feel equally as bad for the hypothetical kids some have that will be forced to listen to their hypothetical parents’ rantings and pontification on costs.

As opposed to your weirdo underbite chin pics?

Lmao. Either way, I just fixed that issue for you. 🤡
QFT. My under it is impressive, gals love the chin though.

Heading to the beach with some buds and the dogs. Have fun with insurance quotes in your office though!

I picked UK because despite, as my Dad put it. "wasting 2 years of your time and my money." I managed to accumulate quite a few credit hours over the 3 semesters I attended after HS (before I quit and joined the Air Force)

Anyway, once I got my discharge, it made the most sense to move back to Lexington and give it another try. It's amazing, how much more seriously I took my studies, and I was paying for it. (The GI Bill wasn't available anymore when I signed up in 1984)

GYERO was around (in it's infancy) before I finished paying off those loans.
