Gut says Charlotte.

They love our guys, need a rim protector to upgrade/replace Biyombo, and want to play uptempo with LaMelo.

What an odd response.

If you read the story that the op posted 8t highlighted the productivity that Jackson produced. We have a similar player with a similar size and skill set who was ranked higher than Jackson and there are posters who have said that if OT gets into foul trouble we have no real backup. Not only does Collins have the same potential is actually considered more athletic and potentially an even better shot blocker considered to have more potential as he is projected middle of the lottery in the 22 draft he has an actual assistant who is considered one of the best at developing big men in OA. Yet he is ofter talked about as an afterthought. It was just a bit of tongue in cheek I am well aware he hasn't played organized ball but for 3 years and he may not live up to the hype but I've seen posters act like he brings nothing to the table when he doesn't have to be anything other than a solid back up in a 4 out offense.

I’m really interested to see what Collins can do, but I’m just not expecting a Jackson level impact. If he can be close to it that would be fantastic, but I don’t think we should expect it.

Exactly he doesn't have to be Jackson to make a huge difference on this team. If we play 4 out ( yes I know I will believe it when I see it too)! But if we do all he has to do is come off the bench block a few shots throw down an alley oop here and there and give us 5 more post fouls and I believe he is capable of that. If he comes close to IJ at all then we are a very dangerous team

People are tempering expectations with Collins. We know he’s athletic and similar build to IJ. We also know he’s raw and we aren’t 100% sure what we’re going to get from him. Jackson turned out to be quite a bit better than most people expected. Which is great.

nothing unfair about that

Sounds like good news.

Hope Cal can be there. Whatever you think of it, it absolutely played a factor in our recruiting success.

If we're getting the band back together and going to dominate recruiting again, draft night is part of it, and the program can use good pub right now.

It may have "played a role" in our recruiting success.
It may have "been a factor" in our recruiting success.
But ... "played a factor" ... ???

Anyway ... Go 'Cats !

Oh I agree! Those aren't the posters that I am light heartedly poking fun at. I have seen posters act like cause of his limited experience and size he wouldn't even be an effective interior backup which is all we need from him. I'm thinking worse case scenario is Marcus Lee and best is IJ. Probably something in-between but if worse case scenario we get freshman level Lee then we should be pleased.

Right. IJ turned out much better than expected. It just isn’t the norm for that range of player. If Collins could just be somewhere in the ballpark of IJ I’d be happy.

Wait tho! So your telling me a 6ft10 210 lb kid who was ranked as barely a 5star. In the low 20s can contribute on that level but we're doomed cause we didn't get Kofi cause Ot won't have a backup cause Collins who many claim is a better shot blocker and more athletic and is ranked at 10-12 can't contribute at 6ft10 210? Not be our best player but backup the 4 and 5 lmao
Collins is gonna be an absolute stud IMO, no idea why people aren’t absolutely excited for him.

Well I do understand after our top 5 and top 10 recruits didn't exactly live up to hype although Clarke I think it was more the injury and could have developed. Then our pg recruit wasn't as billed either That expectations are just tempered. I just feel that based on Collins not having to be the man and OA being a very good big man coach that he will be very solid backing up the 4 and 5 and if he turns out better than that then we are playing with house money

I get it but, have they watched the kid? I thought Clarke would be amazing from day one, but I was always unsure of Boston and had no idea of Askew. Because of what turned out to be a bad class, for me anyway, doesn’t make me stop being excited about clear prospects.

There were absolutely bigger factors at play because Cal never stopped doing right by his guys and preparing pros better than anyone.

I just think this is a transitional moment. NIL is huge, K is retiring, Capel is gone, Antigua is back. John Calipari made himself by capitalizing on transitional moments better than his peers and if he's going to be who he wants to be historically, he's got a chance to do it one last time.

I'm not saying that hinges on him being in the green room. Just that the door is ajar and he's more likely to kick it off the hinges if he's lurking outside it.

I want the skinny, good hair, tailored suits, glad-handing, product-selling, cut-your-throat-when-the-camera-turns-off guy back. He's got a chance to return if he wants to take it.

I'm betting on that ego one last time.

Yessir. Would the real Calipari please stand up?

I have a good feeling Cal will be there. He's never met a camera he hasnt liked.
He also does it to support the players who came to play for him. No doubt it's done some for recruiting purposes, but Cal's a genuinely good guy even if he catches some heat on Rupp Rafters. I'd also say opposing fans, but that doesn't need to be mentioned when he gets plenty of it from UK fans lol

He is a good guy, I just think he likes it to be known. Of course it comes with the territory, you have to be a politician and salesman. Cal does well at both.
