I once spilled Kofi in my lap and it left me with Cockburns. I should've sued McDonald's dammit!!
Kofi wanted to come to UK. Cal wanted Duren and told Kofi to wait until Duren announced. It’s that simple.
And with Tshiebwe on the roster, you can take that gamble, but it’s still a gamble.
The biggest thing is, Duren is the better fit. He’s a PF that can play Center. Cockburn and Tshiebwe are both traditional Centers. While Cal could make Cockburn and Tshiebwe work together, it wasn’t going to be a great fit. Duren is use to playing with another Big (Lively) and can step out and shoot the ball and handle on the perimeter a bit more than Tshiebwe could. Huggins already tried playing Tshiebwe at the 4 and the results were not encouraging.
So what seems like a bonehead move could end up being the right move.
But what a gamble. You have to have ice water in your veins to tell a college All-American to wait.
But the old saying about a bird in the hand being worth two in the bush comes to mind.
The most likely scenario is you miss out on both and Cal is going to take some major heat if that happens and rightfully so.
Part of me wonders if Cawood and Ed are married and come here to fight.
Back in the good ol days a top player will commit to a college out of nowhere lol. What else is annoying is the “cutting their list” to like 10 teams announcement after listing like 18I pay no attention to recruiting. None.
I get a few things from guys I’ve conversed with for decades from a few different sites and programs. Some things come from some AAU guys I know, and from time to time they know a few family members of recruits.
People need to stop looking at players instagrams and Twitter accounts. Let it go, quit giving them attention, and focus on the team and that’s it.
Recruiting is nothing but immature nonsense these days. There was a time when players were serious about it but that’s long gone. Most of These modern families and players are not worth the time or energy spent following them around and I don’t know why anyone would do it (unless you’re like G**zo and really really get self worth out of sucking up to guys who wouldn’t drain your bathtub while you’re drowning

I wish they would change the rule that once you enter the transfer portal you cannot return to the team you just left- not sure why you enter the transfer portal and go back to the same team- a lot of wasted time by everyone
It should absolutely be a rule. But we’re giving the players all of the leeway and it’s going to end up ruining everything. Sad but it’s the way it’s going to be.

I heard from a customer who is from Champagne Champlain whatever it is in Illinois that the kid received a huge inducement from somebody and he said it was big news in the central Illinois area
Jack Pilgrim said on the newest sources say episode that he wanted to come to UK, was even gonna set up a visit and commit at the end of the month. But Cal talked to the team about him coming on board, and some expressed concerns, so Cal backed off because he didn't wanna bring him in and disrupt chemistry. He also said Cal didn't think he was a good fit with all of the shooters and up tempo style he wants to play.
I'm afraid that's going to turn out to be a terrible mistake.It sounds like Cal really believes he will get Duren.If he misses on him you really have to wonder about Cal.He let a couple of players make the decisions.After 9-16 this is bs.
I love the idea of playing fast, but I am skeptical because every coach since Pitino left has said in the offseason that they want to run, but it never truly happens.

Nonsense about recruiting over guys, every guy on this team has been recruited over, Ware stayed loyal to the team and he’s the 13th man. If Oscar would’ve left from Kofi coming, then he’s not UK material anyways. Nothing should be given at a blue blood program, every minute should be earned.
Unless Cal is out of scholarships because Duren signed a letter of intent without telling anybody, then this could be a disaster for the way Cal is remembered here.

Matt Jones said he knew he wasn't coming early last week, while most insiders thought he was as late as last Tuesday. He didn't wanna tweet it out because he was on vacation and didn't want the backlash from UK fans. He said Kofi wanted to come. Cal didn't talk to him. Antigua and Chin urged him to go back to Illinois.
The idea of taking him didn't set well with the rest of the team and besides Coach O made a pact with Illinois to not dip into them
Well the players need to deliver a championship if they think they are so great they don't need to add an all american.

I believe you don’t blow up a team cuz a player comes available last minute…once again you wanna space the floor and let our shooters have room or you wanna stick two post players on the court and have the same slow O we’ve all been complaining about? You want Cal to lie to his players and lie to the fans about everything he said he was changing after thr season ended?
Probably because the constant updates from our own media people that Cal is going hard after these guys and wants them. Even going so far as to call some of these guys for UK (or at least that UK was the overwhelming favorite). That makes it pretty hard to understand.
Who said that?I was saying Cal feels the team isn't complete and if he adds Duren the players will have to deal with it.They aren't owed playing time.
