A sad day. Now our players represent their sponsors, not UK.

The age of semipro college sports has begun. College basketball played as amateur competition had ended.

Good. Convincing people that athletes should bring in billions of dollars of revenue year after year and be expected to do it for free is perhaps the greatest con-job ever conceived.

This doesn't effect you and everyone else on this board one single bit.

most good players represent themselves anyway. this has been the case for a while. only now they’ll get compensated and not have to go under the table. there’s a lot of changes that have already proved your narrative real. it should be a good thing but you know there will still be under the table stuff to counter offers.

Dude do you want to hold on to your nostalgia or do you want to live in free America? I hear Russia is beautiful this time of year.

It’s ball, nothing more. Stop making it more than it is. Go Cats.

Sure it does. First they don’t do it for free. Well except walk ons. Doubt the see much endorsement. Second. No con job.

third of course it affects me. It destroys amateur competition which I love.

They living free. You can stop with the melodramatic ********. They were freely choosing what they did before. Nobody was at gunpoint.

It’s semi-pro ball now. They play for they, not us.

Allen’s not going to make hardly anything off shirts. Very few people are buying a Dontaie Allen sweatshirt (especially at $60).

This is where college athletes will make significant money:

Wild, but maybe not so surprising, that the two biggest deals so far are for young pretty ladies with big social media followings.

Yep...been saying all along that social media, cameo and for some, autograph signings, will be where the money is. Those girls are going to make bank! The LSU gymnast who has almost 4 million Tik Tok followers will probably be the athlete that makes the most money this year.

Wait you called ME melodramatic? Lol.

I’m tired of explaining capitalism to you. At this point I am resigned to the fact that you are in fact just too stupid to understand. That’s not your fault, your brain is limited and you were just dealt a bad hand.

When the Supreme Court gets involved……that means someone’s rights are being violated. In this case, it was anti-trust law violation.

Kavanaugh-
“Nowhere else in America can businesses get away with agreeing not to pay their workers a fair market rate on the theory that their product is defined by not paying their workers a fair market rate…..the NCAA is not above the law”.

Even though I’m kind of hard on you I do want to deliver some good and promising news. You can still enjoy amateur sports where the competitors are unlikely to get paid a dime. It’s pure and it’s wholesome and it’s beautiful. There are plenty of youth sports events all across the state.

I was going to say high school but it’s still possible that high school athletes can make a dime off their name and still be eligible for competition. So that may turn you off.

Kavanaugh was not speaking in this context. The athletes were getting compensated in scholarships. They voluntarily agreed to enter into those roles. They have other options than college. Your whiny little mention of capitalism is nothing more than you being a grandstanding drama queen with no basis n fact.

So now amateur college athletics is destroyed. We’ll have corruption and turmoil in its place.

It's just going to be a free for all for companies to sign the hottest college chicks to endorse their products, especially if they have large followings on IG, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc.
The next target of this nature will be the WWE. I think I read a while back that they prohibit their wrestle from having outside revenue streams like twitch, tik tok, Onlyfans, etc. The article talked about some of their athletes leaving WWE because they made more money modeling and stuff. The UFC also took away their fighter’s sponsorship opportunities when they signed their deal with Reebok. Very similar to the NCAA model. I’d say their days are numbered as well.
