Will it surprise anyone that we will be the most conservative & restrictive school in the country? I think he used “gentle steps” more than once in his interview today. Other schools will sprint…we will slow jog it. Hope I’m wrong and/or hope Cal & Stoops have more pull in this than Mitch. Change with the times or move on Mitch…please.

Mitch is doing exactly what he should do. Early on, this could turn into a three ring circus. Best to be above all that. Go slow, figure it out, play by the rules. Would be stupid to get hung over some crazy infraction to gain a year possibly losing many more.

Barney is a massive drag on Uk athletics. He’s like high taxes on the economy. Maybe the economy is doing ok but you get rid of the high taxes and the growth will explode when you remove the shackles. Tbh if a player is allowed to make money on their NIL if that is the law then Barney can’t do a damned thing about it. It’s not his name or his image it’s not his football program or his basketball program. This is the whole point of this transition to get rid of the mentality that these players are property who belong to Barney and others. What a joke the guy should have been fired mid basketball season. Actually he should have been fired after the joker debacle.

Mitch needs to stay out of the way and let Cal and Stoops do their jobs or they are both likely to bolt.
Everyone seems to know something that he had done to hinder this. So what is it? What has Mitch done that isn't "with the new way" or embracing change?? Surly people aren't complaining blindly without a reason.

His basketball coach is out front of this leading the charge so he sure hasn't hurt him, or held him back. I haven't read enough on Stoops approach to comment on it but I haven't read of any restrictions.

Am I alone in thinking this is bad for college sports?
I can see where the big schools will only separate themselves from everyone else; bigger money boosters mean more money to bid against those who do not have deep pockets.
With all this, how will anyone ever know when a player has been bought, like Zion was?
I agree something needed to be done, but when I hear a player say they need money while in college due to the demands of practice, school and all, but see them with thousands of dollars of tattoos on their body, I get the feeling someone already is giving them some money.
Either pay all athletes a stipend, pay them the same amount no matter 1 star or 5 stars, but this is only going to turn into a bidding war.
What is the difference in this crap and what pro sports does now with their free agency?

Messaging is everything. Take all the baby steps you want, but the outward message absolutely must be "we're excited and ready to go"

What a poorly handled initial approach

Of course he's probably trying to limit expectations because he knows they're going to eventually have to break the news that EO isn't nearly what was actually advertised.

The checker board unis will be his down fall. :)

Try to unbutton that top button on your polo… you might like it. I’m through responding to you. The old saying “you can’t argue with stupid” applies to you and everyone else on the board knows it. Have a good night.

Agree 100% with your first part. “I’m excited for our athletes. The coaches and I will do everything possible to make sure our athletes can benefit from their name, image and likeness.”

Mitch does some good things, but damn he struggles with anything that is new, different and against his personal view.

time to run Banfart outta town on a rail
Why? I think he is doing a great job. His record is exemplary. From what I hear his superiors are pleased. His respect in the basketball community is outstanding. He manages his programs with integrity. By any objective measure, he is a top drawer AD. I think your suggestion to run him off is asinine and comical.

Can’t wait until Mitch leaves…..between this, the checkerboards, and terrible contract terms he keeps signing coaches to I’m surprised he isn’t more disliked. But, the rifle team is good so that counts for something!

I can’t believe he isn’t more disliked by the football fanbase after calling them “microwave fans”, the most patient and enduring FB fans in the country. He had a lot of nerve saying that after all the neglect he helped subject the program to.

Most people can handle the truth. Some can’t.

Why is Mitch even commenting?

Why do we even know who he is?

The best AD’s are the ones nobody knows their names because things run smoothly and they don’t have to talk to the media. They let their coaches do the talking.

Best thing for him to do is just sit back and fill out paperwork so his coaches can handle the real stuff.

Yeah him hiring Joker and Gillespie was real top notch. He was basically forced to hire Calipari.
