Seems there's already a different feel to recruiting for UK.
I was thinking that same thing. Our guys are everywhere and in contact with everyone! We have more mentions than ever before. This staff is on fire and kids are flocking to them.
And that was a great point- if UK offers they better grab it. Don’t think they will wait anymore
For those more familiar with the recruiting targets, does it appear that UK is focusing more on current skill set and shooting with the latest recruits, rather than rankings, etc.? And I'm not saying that UK recruited just on rankings before; I'm just thinking Calipari has indicated what he's looking for may have changed somewhat.
Agreed. He’s the wing I want in 2023. That dude is filthy. And Chin has the Chicago connection so I think Kentucky has a great shot.

I believe Orlando is a supreme talent evaluator. His guys always know the game, can play and blend in team wise. Not a lot of me guys.

Miller is the one I want. I believe he shoots like 47% from 3. IIRC, Kentucky should be the favorite in his recruitment.

Yep. So glad we finally got rid of those fly by night assistants we had. IMO, UK’s coaching staff is the best in the entire country. I don’t think it’s really that close.
You guys get excited about your feeling, I will get excited when they sign the papers. Seen too much of this BS over the years to buy into it anymore, watched Locks like Zion and Wiseman amount MANY others go elsewhere.
All of them are high level talent evaluators. O praised Chin's eye for talent but then also the hard part--player development. All you need to know about Jai Lucas is when he showed Cal film of Daimion Collins Cal asked the staff "why weren't we recruiting this guy?". Need I say more?
Plus he’s 6’8”. He’s from tennessee as well. Be nice to steal another one from the voltards.
I have no idea about that. We'll all find out after they visit. Just love that the majority of guys coming in are the types who will be targeted by Pro ball--so they'll know where they stand and what the thinking of the player/camp is--that allows you invest or move on.
Yeah, I’m a big fan of it as well. Was getting so tired of getting led on goose chases by guys who had no intention on coming here. Justus was so bad. So happy that fool is making out with that dukie in the desert.
I personally don’t get excited over recruits unless it’s moments after they commit to UK. However, having Orlando on the staff make me feel more confident in Uk’s ability to form a tournament worthy team. Calipari is clearly the head coach, but IMO, Orlando is a much needed supporting cast Cal needs to be effective.
Agree with all on this. It’s even more interesting to note it’s happening when all were here speaking negatively toward talent drying up for multiple reasons due to recruits choosing the professional paths.
Is recruiting perspective? Coaches recruit a 100 guys, love this staff, they are very aggressive, can't wait better jump on offer now! A few weeks ago Cal recruiting a 100 guys, Cal is desperate, Cal trying everything, Everyone telling Cal no!
If I was making a prediction on who UK would be the choice as of right now, It would JJ Taylor. He seems very high on UK, like would commit very quick if offered and visited. I may be reading him wrong, but it sure feels that he would shut it down and commit if offered by UK.
This is what happens when the man comes back home we are in on about every top kid the next few years! This is how a real staff recruits!
Once again we are almost always” in” with all the big recruits, regardless of the staff, now actually .” Signing” them well that’s been a different story . Let’s wait and see if we actually get any of them before we start the party.
Just goes to show how awful our last staff was….we could barely even get a visit from 1 top 10 player and we already have a bunch lined up.
This just feels different I feel we're actually "in" with the big time recruits the last 6-7 years I didn't have that same feeling. I'm not saying oh yea UK is recruiting me this just has a different vibe to it... I'm talking same vibe as it did Cal's first 5-6 years here.
