Coming into the season, Mississippi State had lost 13 straight conference games. That's the sixth longest losing streak of conference games in SEC history.

With the loss to Florida yesterday, the streak reached 15 in a row and moved our current futility streak into fourth place in history, surpassing the 14-game streaks of the 1966-67 LSU Tigers and the Auburn teams from 1945-47.

If we lose to TAMU on Tuesday, that will take us to 16 in a row and tie our school record, set in 1945-46 and then tied in 1981-82. That would give us the three streaks tied for the second longest in league history. (We also have a pair of 11 game streaks, which gives us five of the nine longest losing streaks in conference history, or five of the 11 longest if you prefer since Ole Miss and Vandy also have 11 game streaks.)

The SEC record for consecutive losses belongs to the University of Alabama, who dropped 22 in a row from 1968-70. If we keep on losing, we would tie the record with a loss in Knoxville on February 3, and surpass it with a loss in Fayetteville on February 7.

I'll stay up to date on the watch right here. Because I sure won't be watching the games.

You are not including our win in the SEC tournament last year. Would that break up that losing streak? ?

I am going out on a limb and say that a win would break the streak. Tourney games are not conference games.

Another fun fact. Ray is now 7-31 (.184) in SEC games at Mississippi State. Take a second and let that sink in.

That means he has to win three games this year to bring it up. Any fewer wins than that and that number will actually go lower.

The fact there isn't a FireRickRay.com yet tells you that apathy has set in.
