Damn. This surprises me, but I wish JRob the best. He was such a great personality and player for this team. Bittersweet.

I have no firsthand knowledge of this, just a gut feeling, but I'm not sure if JRob and Mullen saw eye to eye on things. From last year when JRob didn't get hardly any carries despite him being clearly better than Perkins, to the last few games of this year when he got few carries against Alabama and Ole Miss, I think JRob might have felt a little slighted by Mullen. I also think JRob was pissed that he twice was within two or three yards of 200 in a game, only to be taken out before he could reach the milestone. He also looked pretty upset when he came out of the Vandy game in the second quarter and didn't play anymore. Once again, no firsthand knowledge, but I'm not surprised JRob is leaving the program with still a year of eligibility left.

This would work out well for everybody if he goes out in style. We are going to need a big performance from him on the ground, and that performance might actually get him drafted. Hope he goes for 250 and catches the eye of scouts.

Your details are not exactly correct, but yes Robinson did take a little more care than the others on the team. He definitely had a bit of an attitude issue.

Agree hammer and flow town as well. Something just seemed odd with how j. Rob was used this year. Hope he runs for 200 today and goes out on a high note.

You're absolutely

wrong on this, goat. This is nothing more than Josh seeing an opportunity to make a life changing move. He and Dan got along fine.

I apologize for my post. I did not intend to slight JRob in any way. I know his backstory and I think he is a fantastic person to have overcome his past. I was simply making a statement about a personality trait. Reading it again, it does sound harsh and critical, when I didn't mean it to be. I hope JRob runs for 250 tonight and has a great pro career.

Every time a coach or player leaves does not mean there is a problem with mullen and said coach or player. Some of you guys are always trying to dream up conspiracy theories. JRob is leaving cause he feels he has a shot to get drafted. If he's a decent draft pick, he needs to go.

JRob strikes me as the type of person who needs to be coddled and constantly told how good he is. And Mullen is definitely not that type of coach. Regardless, I really enjoyed watching him play and hate he only got to start for one year. He had enough talent that he should've been our feature back for at least two seasons, if not three.

get the 17 out of here with that ****. He strikes you as needing to be coddled? It strikes you how? That he came from nothing and worked for everything he has?? Has practically been homeless a lot of his high school career? He was not a heralded athlete but we gave him his shot and he made it? Tell me what strikes out at you as him needing to be coddled??

i don't know what it is with some of you needing to project a hunch or other ******** about our players and coach but You are not impressing anyone with it.

Good for JRob. I think it's a smart move on his part. RBs have short careers. I hope he kicks *** in the NFL.

Shump and Williams should be a great duo next year.

Saying someone strikes you as a person that needs to be coddled and constantly told how good he is seems like an intentional slight to me.

Timing, though?

I'm happy for JRob, especially if he gets a good shot to go better himself. BUT, I do take exception with his timing. His more heralded teammates (with respect to their NFL future) have made it known that they wouldn't discuss the NFL until after today. At least seemingly out of respect for the team and not to turn the attention away from bowl prep. Then he comes out and announces on the day of the game?! That's selfish in my opinion. He even said as much if you read his Twitter timeline. Just a poor decision on his part. That's not how this TEAM operates. I'm more disappointed in the timing of his announcement than the fact he's going.

From the post earlier this week (or whenever it was) sounds like the whole team knew he was gone already.

Someone is in his ear or he got rated high. I hope he goes in the first two rounds. I've seen him as 4th round.

I don't think he needs coddling but he sure as **** likes the attention, not that it's a bad thing. I thought it was a little selfish to announce this before the game, but I ultimately agree with him declaring.

I do think he conflicted with the staff, not because Dan's a dick but because I think he approached things in an immature way (*citing Mullen's numerous occasions saying this). He's been pretty outspoken on social media about how unhappy he's been.

I love JRob and I'm pulling for him as much as I've ever pulled for a bulldog, but him saying he'd never send his kids "here" stuck with me.

I would be shocked if he gets drafted 4th round or higher. Rb's just aren't valued that much anymore. If he gets drafted, I think it was the right move though

He's rated the 15th best RB in this year's draft. The 15th RB got taken in the 6th round last year. He's got a better chance of going undrafted than being taken in the 4th.

His value is higher now than probably any other time. Go while you have the attention and momentum and really another year in college isn't going to help his draft stock as a running back.

Me too.

I hope for him to do very well, but he tweets like a 14 year old girl, and I'm not at all surprised that he went for maximum drama with his timing.

But don't get me wrong: nothing would please me more than for all the MSU guys to have long and successful NLF careers.

Cue the "that's what all young people sound like on Twitter!" responses.

And again, super happy for him. He was able to use my alma mater as a platform to dig himself out of a life of poverty. That's better than anything I could witness on a football field.

But I could easily see him taking the Tommy Kelly approach and forgetting all about us as soon as next year depending on his success if his Twitter is an indication of his thought process.
