I think I've mentioned on here before, but I officiate several sports. Softball, basketball and volleyball. Volleyball is the hardest one for me to do a good job at. Everything is moving at such speed, it's hard to follow everything you need to keep up with. I actually had a buddy get injured while line-judging a mens match, on the college level, when he couldn't get out of the way of a hit in time and it caught his flag, knocking it against his wrist w/ force. Ended up w/ a sprained wrist and ankle, when he tripped trying to avoid it.

I just finished watching the replay of the semifinal game on the ESPN U, good stuff. Great scoring team. Would be cool to see them go ahead and win the natty!

If you couldnt tell by the game last night (sarcasm) Paul Sunderland has been the voice of Pac 12 Sports (including volleyball) for at least 30 years. Was almost Walton-esque in his blatant bias for the "Conference of Champions"

Hell, I can remember him doing Olympic Mens Volleyball in the 80's!

Ironically he does alot of womens basketball on SEC Network as well. There it seems like makes a point to piss off some his female color commentators with snarky in game commentary

The PAC 12 has historically dominated both volleyball and softball and understandably is very proud about it. The SEC has REALLY caught up (more so in softball) and there is some resistance that the south is now good at these sports as well.

Volleyball players are great athletes playing at the highest level of competition and having fun doing it. This is huge for UK. Small crowd but the blue looked great. Go BBN.

Lol... I was asked to line judge a high school girls match with several D-1 athletes on the court -- and I about soiled myself -- balls whizzing all over the place with snap judgements having to be made!!

Teams were limited to 200 tickets each...

Texas will be very hard to beat

Slightly OT but I’m a high school teacher and for the first time ever our school has a boys volleyball team.

Some of my kids are on the team and said it’s not officially KHSAA sanctioned yet due to only about 16 teams in the state playing right now.

Really cool to see the sport growing and I hope the UK women help spur a growth here in KY for volleyball.

I was glued to the TV watching that game the other night. Pretty amazing comeback in that third set after they were down 22-16 (or something like that). Whoever won that set was likely going to win the game. Excited for tonight and hope the girls bring the title home to Lexington!

I'm fairly sure that the 5th region is starting mens volleyball next year.

It is surprising there aren't (more) HS teams! It's a good sport.

I think for me we played in HS PE class for maybe a week, and then in college (WKU) I played outside once (w/ several from the women's B-ball team), but nothing serious until Grad school at UK, when our Dept formed a Intramural team (they had to teach me how to bump and set. We lost in finals to the Rec-Dept, not bad for a bunch of geeky statisticians.

I really hope these young ladies bring a championship back to Lexington. Wow! wouldn't that be nice after what our Basketball team did.

I mean I like to watch because I’m cheering on UK and the sport is genuinely enjoyable. Some creepy vibes going on in this thread to be honest. I agree with the let’s get to 8 pm sentiment though.
