Friend told me Skyy Clark/family have been shopping around before this became news and he got the info from an assistant at one of the schools his family has been talking with. Cal is aware. Joel Justus wasn't. Not a great look. They also have been recruiting plenty of '22 guards too so whatever happens, happens.
If he is already looking around why even commit in the first place?

That’s awfully rich coming from you @SosaUK87 lol (just sayin).

Somehow you continue to lack the ability to differentiate harsh criticisms of John Calipari and his current broken model and taking it as some sort of personal insult...which is just cringe and weird. To each their own tho my friend.

You do understand being critical of a coach doesn’t make you any less of a fan, right? Surely you comprehend that. You just don’t like me (or think I’m a “joke”) because I speak bluntly and honestly. This is a message board man. Made for some discussion. That’s literally it’s sole purpose. Deal with it and try to curtail your emotions.

I will allow you to have the last word here as it’s pretty evident a back and forth will just end in...more back and forth. Be well.
TLDR

How is Cal not changing his model? Recruiting shooters? Yes. New assistants? Yes. I mean?

I don't think he is trash just that his views have totally changed. He used to really defend Cal I guess the past couple seasons have changed his mind.

Thanks man. I have just done a 180 on Calipari for a variety of reasons. His talking down to the fan base and complete lack of taking responsibility/ broken model being the main ones. As I’m sure you remember, I was called a sunshine pumper by many on this board in my defense of John Calipari.

The individual above lacks the ability to have dialogue and dismisses those critical of John Calipari (even if harshly critical) as “trash”. I know message board fodder isn’t an exact reflection of real life but it sort of sheds/ gives a glimpse of the type of person he is in real life. That being weak, beta and ornery. Gets neurotic and hysterical quite easily...

I’ve always liked and respected you as a poster (and still do) despite the fact that I may slightly disagree with you in some instances. I appreciate the attempt at defending me and the well meaning words. You’re a good guy in my book.

It cost him national championships also . I don’t think they ever made a final four .
Made it in '81 the year that IU beat UNC. But they made it the year immediately after he left in '84 as well when Olden Polynice took over at Center and Rick Carlisle was playing for the Wahoos.

I just think it speaks to how shady recruiting is in general and you better be a vicious MF'er who is well connected with various people who will tip you off as to what is going on. My biggest dislike of Justus is he's often caught off guard or assumes something is done when it's just getting started. That loses elite players. Personally I'm waiting to see if Skyy is truly elite facing his peers rather than doing moves against airs in shooting drills for guys who are paid to "Train" him. Gladly eat crow if he proves it, but when you never play, get talked up as 2nd coming and the lone competition between moves of HS was on a team with 3 McDonald's AA teammates and they went .500 and dude scored 12/14 pts total in 4 games....I need to see more to believe he's the guy to handle the UK spotlight.
Skyy would be best served to go to whichever school doesn't have to play Ole Miss and Deshaun Ruffin, that game in Atlanta was baaaaddd. He will still be good in 22, but he needs to prove it against high-level competition and not open-runs and weak teams.

yes I definity remeber all the times we were accused of being pumpers lol. I am glad you are back posting, it seemed like one day you just left but losing you password will do that. Hopefully we get thing turned around and we can all be back on the train like we were prior to 2017.

I remembered them making it the year after he left cause I thought it was ironic. Didnt remember about 81 though. My memory isn’t as dependable these days, lol

I always wondered if he regretted his decision. My encounter with him was in Virginia with other people around, so he clearly wasn’t going to be like “oh yeah, going to UVA was the dumbest thing I ever did!”
It’s been widely reported that it was his Mother’s decision for him to go to Virginia.

I think these kids craving relationships with coaches & a family atmosphere as a condition for which school they go to is just plain weird.

It's basketball. Not intended to be a family. Coaches are coaches...not intended to be best friends or dads. Just weird.

we have been saying he cant close out the deal on recruits, sucks at analytics and likes to leak info to media outlets and tweet things that get him into trouble. but have no fear, Justus is laying the groundwork for 2023.............

SIKE. Hes gone.

Yet he's led and landed a number of biggest recent gets. Weird?

He sucks at analytics based on what exactly? Lol

not gonna dog on Skyy - I am personally a fan of his and hope he honors his commitment. Seems like a great kid, mature and great personality. That said - based on his history of seemingly jumping from school to school - even leaving his most current school mid-season - I do not have a lot of hope. While I like him - and a lot about him - there seems to be something there that is MAYBE off a bit as far as long-term decision making goes. It's his life and his recruitment - but if you continually look for a new "shiny object/better situation" then you are inviting a lot of chaos and outside noise into your game constantly.... Best to JJ - love to keep Skyy - but in all things Go CATS...

No need to dog Skyy just because JJ is leaving. If he decides to not honor his commitment - then maybe go for it. I will not - but more understandable AFTER the fact than speculating.
