"I chose Texas because coach (Chris) Beard and his coaching staff are completely invested into their players and player development," Askew told 247Sports. "They have also watched film on my game and see that my playing style and abilities will thrive in their program."

the irony here is if he was the Texas PG last year and was in the transfer portal, you'd see people excited about the idea of him coming to UK.

Cal gave him every opportunity unlike Juzang where he limited the role. So, I think the transfer is a good thing for Kentucky this time. But.................Cal better get an elite replacement hopefully with experience.
No it's not, you need to develop some players.

I wonder why the kid left. Obviously it's none of my business but I think this is the type of kid we needed to keep and develop.
He would've improved but not to the level Cal needs in a PG. His decision making and shooting will likely get better but explosiveness/quickness aren't attributes that dramatically improve. In a different system geared around screening and off ball movement he may do well but he struggles attacking the basket and creating for others.

I guess I’m the only one that doesn’t “wish the best of luck” to the players that transfer from our school?

I’m indifferent to a lot these days. I’m not sure that will change unfortunately.

Saw a bunch of grown middle aged men on twitter being all sappy and “MUH once a cat always a cat” on Askews Twitter post. Pretty cringe. I certainly wish him no ill will whatsoever (doing so would be weird and cruel) but why do so many care so intimately about where another grown man is going to play basketball?

Of course he is. I meant a personal redshirt might do him some good. That being said, he'll probably be great there this year.
I can't imagine a guy reclassifying to get into college ball a year early only to then decide to redshirt. But it ain't my life to lead.

Guys transfer and sit out a year to work on their game all the time. Just because he CAN play immediately doesn’t mean he WILL
