LOL. A lot of programs would like to be "burned" the way Kentucky was in 2020 - winning the SEC by three full games and being in line for a #2 seed. I assume you mean by Whitney. But don't forget Maxey. He was a freshman too, as was KB for that matter, who was playing pretty well at year's end.
The rest of the SEC was burned too because it was hot trash last year.

You can't force these guys to stay. the only player thats leaving that doesn't make a ton of sense is Askew. Otherwise Brooks is an Indiana kid and these Mintz was a senior anyways who may not want to play college ball.
Nobody is asking Cal to force anyone to come back, the problem is the culture. These guys aren't coming here for UK, they are coming here to leave.
Waiting until the end of the season to get kids to come back that had one foot out the door, would definitely require Cal to force them back, so the answer is to stop the one and done culture.
Cal created that and it starts in recruiting, continues with these stupid pro days and ends with Cal having stay-or-go meetings with G-League kids.
Take a good hard look at Villanova, Baylor, Michigan, Gonzaga and about 345 other programs, they all have Juniors and seniors that developed within the program. They came there FOR the program, not for the fast track to the next level.

See, I can't get on board with this. This is the kind of stuff we read year after year when guys leave.

"We don't need Keldon Johnson back, we have Khahlil Whitney coming in!"

"Let Whitney go! Terrence Clarke is coming baby. Top 5 pick!"

That #3 is what I'm talking about. There is no way, as a freshman, Hopkins is going to come in more ready to contribute than a junior Brooks would. There's just no way.

Every year we spin all these guys leaving into "it's not a loss, we have better stuff coming in." We need continuity period. Guys leaving that would give us continuity IS bad news. Always has been.
Wish I could like this multiple times

A lot of people on Twitter are saying the bad news is in regards to Gavin Wimsatt committing to somewhere other than UK. Maybe (hopefully) there is no negative UK basketball news today!
I wanted us to get him but that was weak.Walker made it sound really bad.

You haters always find some excuse. Couldn’t be that UK was really good. No, no, no, the SEC was just really bad. SMFH
We lost to EVANSVILLE at home. Saying we won the SEC last year is like saying you’re the fastest runner in a special olympics race. There’s a reason we were in line for a 3 seed with a 25-6 record and it’s because the league was terrible.

Probably Temple. He has a connection there, a lot of scuttlebutt a couple weeks ago had him pegged to pick Temple,,,, Temple of all schools. Oh well, and this is not sour grapes, but I am not that big on the kid. Against better teams, he didn't play his best. State playoffs he was terrible. Even if he still signs with UK, he is a project, doubt he ever starts for UK, he is just not that great. Wayyyyy over rated based on the teams he played against. I watched him play Bowling Green a few times, lets just say I was less than impressed with him. WKU would be a great spot, but he is not SEC material. Bash away, but just MHO, he is not.

Not that I doubt bad news is coming but when was TJ Walker EVER right about something? ANYTHING? Idk much about his track record outside of KSR so he might’ve actually found a connection since his days there. But, at KSR the dude predicted UK would get every player he wrote a story about & was wrong every time that I remember. His opinions in general were usually crap. That’s why his “Connor from Possum Trot” comment was so aggravating to me. Such an arrogant & condescending comment coming from the absolute worst “predictor” who never got ANYTHING right.

Rutgers, but the point still stands. I’m not as down on him as you but I’m not as high on him as most, either. It’s not a devastating loss, IMO.

So, some guy who has a bad track record says bad news is coming. He doesn't even hint as to whether it is football or basketball or women's tennis. Then, we get a 4 page thread speculating on what the news might be and then at the end of the day, it turns out to be just another overblown nothing. Next week Matt Jones will say that we will hear some GREAT news and after another 4 page thread, we will find out that UK has another walkon.

Just another week on Rupp Rafters. Some things never change.

Pretty sure any "bad news" coming related to UK basketball is going to result in further instability on the roster and that's the LAST thing we need.
If there isn't a announcement sometime in the next few months that says "UK basketball assistant _____ is leaving the staff" then, you can pretty much forget about any changes Calipari mentioned a couple weeks ago. UK basketball needs a fundamental system overhaul and that ain't gonna happen with things remaining as they have been.

Put it out on the internet and there are people who believe it.

You're not wrong, but between the guy sounding off on Rupp, leading the charge to kneel for no reason, and making it known how unhappy he was at UK, it's not exactly heartbreaking to see the guy go.
KB has just heard rumors that Rupp was a racist.
Just wait until he has one of his no show games at IU. He's going to hear names called that he has never heard in Rupp Arena.

With OKSTATE literally firing Cade's brother today.. why are we not hiring Hardy's relative. **** it. Just pick one of his cousins and say "Here's $200k for a special position, and give all of it to Hardy".

I don't even care if we pay Hardy out right. I'm willing to take the chance. Let the NCAA come after us. We'll get our punishment in 2032 when college basketball doesn't even exist anymore lol.
Can't do that.

All our cash tied up in Cal's salary.
