It would only make sense to fans who are angry with other fans for disagreeing on things related to the UK program, the biggest one being opinion on Calipari. But doing anything out of spite gets no respect from me. If you want to cheer for Gonzaga since UK isn't in it this season and because you have respect for Few and the program he has built, have at it. Truthfully, for me, I don't care who wins between Gonzaga and Baylor. It will be title #1 for either program. I'm just glad it's not UCLA.

I will say, for those who can become so angry at fellow fans for disagreeing about Calipari, or one and done, or whatever else that they post and do things out spite, I don't have much use for that. I hate that the fanbase is divided. I can't remember ever being blocked, put on ignore, or having disagreements with fellow fans as much as this season. It certainly makes posting here much less pleasurable. Sometimes it feels like a chore, which is a shame.

For my part, I'm doing all I can to promote peace and harmony in the fanbase. We are all on the same team, after all. We all want the same thing, ultimately.
Agreed, good post.

I see people that act like just because I enjoy watching Gonzaga play, that is somehow an indictment on Coach Cal or somehow an additional commentary on the opinions I've had on the program over the past couple of years. But they're completely unrelated. I can enjoy watching Gonzaga play without somehow comparing it to how we play.

Sure, and they play a great style. Having players in the system all for multiple years means Few has a team that consistently knows how to run the offense year to year.

The only time you'll ever hear a word from me on Gonzaga is when someone comes here crowing, and I'm usually reacting. The other time I get aggravated is when they get another 1-seed (and especially if it is as UK's expense) after completing another undefeated conference slate.

Right on.

The posts about "Gonzaga's weak schedule and early flame outs in the tourney" just go all over me, because they're just not accurate. Like at all. People keep repeating this and it's simply untrue. People for some reason have a really hard time being objective on Gonzaga.

I would ask you -- which years do you think Gonzaga took a 1 seed they didn't deserve, and at UK's expense? Any examples?

Ah, I can't think of any specific example. If I feel like we're even in some competition with Gonzaga for seeding, I always feel like we're gonna lose that comparison. When it comes to seeding in general, I often get aggravated by the perception of certain teams over UK. Gonzaga is a team that has been getting favorable seeds for many years now.

I think you're generalizing without actually being objective and looking at the schedule and results. Frankly, the only year you could even TRY to argue Gonzaga took a seed line from us was 2017 (they got a 1 and we got a 2). But even if you look at that objectively they absolutely deserved the 1 seed that year over us as well. They were the #1 team in the country in Kenpoms ratings.

You're crying wolf about something that has just never happened. It reminds me of the argument people used to try to make about Kentucky getting seeds they didn't deserve because they play in the SEC. Then I would try to drill down on them to give me some specific examples of years Kentucky got a 1 seed (or others) that they didn't deserve due to their conference, and then nobody can actually give me one time that it's actually happened. So I'm doing the same thing here. And I don't think you can do it.

When did Gonzaga get a 1 seed at UK’s expense? They were a 1 seed in:

@IL Wildcat I added another line to that last post, if you don't mind humoring me ...
This board used to be fun, but the last couple of years it has went totly downhill. Every good team is terrible and overrated, every transfer is coming to Kentucky, every transfer that goes somewhere else is getting paid or we didn't want him anyway. This junk is on here over and over. The jealousy of other teams, and arrogance of a large number of posters on here make every Kentucky fan look stupid. The bad thing about this the stupid and arrogant ones just happen to be the ones with the biggest mouths. Now just wait and see how long it takes one of these arrogant and not overly bright ones come on here and start yelling about me saying all Kentucky fans are stupid, which I did not. These loud mouth fans are the main reason other fan bases make fun of Kentucky fans, and think that all Cat fans are stupid. It is amazing how a few loud mouths can make the whole fan base look bad.

Well, I am a very confident UK fan that often points out the accomplishments of other programs. Admitting other teams are great does not diminish our greatness

I think people continually put way too much emphasis on conferences.

It doesn't matter as much as some think IMO.

If you are good you are good.
Yep. If you’re good, you will succeed and if anything, the tournament will sort out any perceived issue.

I think this issue is trash is basketball as there’s parody in the sport (for the most part) and anyone can play with anyone on any given day as we see time and time again. This isn’t college football where you can BS your way in and have voters just put you in the Final Four.

lol ... and this is where we will leave it. It's the same reason they deserve an asterisk because it's the COVID year and we wouldn't if we were in the same situation.
At least I'm honest. Ah, I could attempt to make more arguments, but I don't really care that much. As I say, I really don't hate Gonzaga. I just get irritated about them at certain times and then I vent about it here. 😁

When your last six seasons (and 2020) go like this

2015- Elite 8
2016- Sweet 16
2017- National Runner-up
2018- Sweet 16
2019- Elite 8
2020- A 1 seed before tourney was canc.
2021- Undefeated and in the national championship game

...there’s no argument about anything. How many power five teams did the above?
I decided to judge the blue bloods from these last six seasons and see how they stack up against Gonzaga seeing how it’s so easy.

Kentucky
21- missed tourney 9-16
20- 25-6
19- Elite 8
18- Sweet 16
17- Elite 8
16- 2nd round
15- Final Four

Kansas
21- 2nd round
20-28-3 season canc
19- 2nd round

UNC

20- 14-19
19- Sweet 16
18- 2nd round
17- Champs
16- Runner-up
15- Sweet 16

Duke

lol this is why I said a few pages back to him about 2015.

Things happen in one and done tournaments.

Shouldn't have been so cocky.

And you may not agree.. but I think tonight showed that some of us were right on their conference, the shortened season, at least a little bit.

The WCC is not good. And when you're THAT much better than everyone in the conference, not having road games means any top15 team was going 16-0 in it. The OOC slate proved to be a little overrated as well.

I dont think this team was going undefeated in any power conference.. and that includes the SEC. Someone was clipping them at least once.

Great team. But tonight showed us the real story. Gonzaga stands on the backs of a lesser conference.. maybe this year it doesn't matter to get to a 1 seed.. but it did to go 31-0. And it mattered for the past Gonzaga teams for sure.

Lmao, you enjoy seeing your Zags get demolished by a real team tonight? Y'all make me sick pretending to be UK fans, wanting to be like a program that has never accomplished a damn thing in its history. Stop pretending to be UK fans because with standards like yours, we'll never contend for a title again.

That guy is the main reason I was pulling for Baylor. The only reason, really.

There's been a few here actually. And I mentioned above.. no Baylor fans.

Gonzaga.. going to come to THIS team's forum and try and talk ****.. not happening.

I'll be rooting against Gonzaga again next year.. but not sure it will matter. I think they take a step back.. unless they get Chet and have some surprise returnees.. but even them, playing in the WCC did them no favors. Baylor got tested all winter and spring.. and it shows.

Went back and looked at Gonzaga’s schedule, while they had some big wins on paper early in the year, their best wins were against Kansas, Iowa, UVA and WVU. The first three were clearly very overrated teams and the WVU game was super close. The top three teams in their region also got knocked out in the tourny.

Their OOVlC slate was definitely a little overrated looking back on it. And they clearly would have lost to BYU and this whole undefeated thing would have been done in december.

I’ll say this it would have been better for them to take this *** whipping from Baylor in December because they would have been more prepared for Baylor’s speed. Not sure they would have won This time around but it would have been closer.

If they are never tested with a grueling schedule in conference, they will probably never win the whole thing.

They play 3-4 tougher games in December and then its cupcake city for 2.5 months.

How much fun can that be for their fans to play: Pepperdine, St Mary’s, Pacific, BYU, Loyola, etc...?

Does "today" still matter? If it does, can you tell me how many titles Gonzag has "today"?
Not if it happened before you were even born. My great grandfather was a Lt. in the 48th Kentucky Infantry during the civil war, which was way before I was born and he was rich. Does that mean that is something I go around bragging about, no it doesn't effect me one way or another, just like you trying to brag about Kentucky championships before you were even born. I can understand bragging about Kentucky championships that happened during your lifetime, but before you were born, that is reaching.

Most of Kentucky history, is ancient history.

Yet again.. Gonzaga has no history.

Surprised there you arent face down in a puddle after how much **** you talked all year. Enjoy those blueballs. I can tell you first hand that the pain from being so close to undefeated is going to last for a long time. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving troll.,

I wouldn't say anyone hates Gonzaga. I can only speak for myself, but they rarely enter my thinking. I do feel the hype gets old. And that guy on here that's a Gonzaga troll is weird. Hate? Nah. They're a good team and program. Not historically great like some proclaim. At least not right now. Stop hiding out in that conference and earn it.
