Good for him, this man is going to do the thing he loves until the day he dies. We should all be so lucky
Good for him I guess.....but to many people he's just not good at his job any longer, does not give the basketball purist a breakdown of the game you are watching anymore instead trying his best to talk about topics having nothing to do with game at hand. And for the fans to like color commentary....he's just a schill for certain programs/coaches and offers little insightful breakdown of the fullness of college basketball any longer.

My wife and I both just roll our eyes when he's on UK games and have for a while and we are people that look for 2 different perspectives. I can't name one friend that looks forward to Vitale being on UK games. Maybe we are in minority here but guys like Seth Greenberg, Jay Williams, Jimmy Dykes, Bilas, Clark Kellog and Dakich are both really good IMO, Dane Bradshaw, etc... All of them are way better than Vitale and have been for a while. About the only guy who is worse than Vitale is Bill Walton....who is a complete "look at me" and not the game on the floor.

Despite Roy's announcement, we know now Coach K will be around at least until 2024.

I don't find Dick Vitale anywhere nearly as annoying as most sports commentators. But I'm hardly objective since he's been a basketball staple my entire life. I'm going to miss him when he retires. Not a lot, but still.

He’s awful. But how about make room for someone else to have a shot? One of the worst things about commentators is that no one else gets a shot cause the same guys keep the jobs for 40 years (reminds me of the Herald Leader too with sports).

He’s bad and super obnoxious to hear. It was fine in the 90s but other than Stephen A. Smith, there’s not a more annoying voice in sports.

Too bad he won't be following aw shucks Roy out the door. Can't stand his hypocritical ***. For example, he'll bash Will Wade and Sean Miller, but ole Roy, Bruce Pearl and others get a pass. Not that I care for Miller and Will Wade per se, but be consistent there.
Oh, and let's not forget how Annoying his voice in games with a capital 'A' is, baby!

Just horrible news he’s pathetic as a announcer

It's ESPN. You shouldn't expect much as they're clueless as a station in general. It's why they still employ Vitale as well as idiots like Screamin A. Smith and Skip Bayless (among others).

If ESPN didn’t sign him, he would have entered the transfer portal and ended up at CBS or FOX

A guy on here said a north carolina contact he knows has told him kessler to UK is a done deal. Maybe the zags talk is a smoke screen?
I guess it is possible, but it would have to be a very elaborate one, the Zaga Kessler smoke started in January.

Vitale does not care about games any more. The studio would be fine. He is overwhelmed during games now.
