Yes the road games against the likes of San Francisco, St mary’s and Pacific would’ve did them in lmao smh
I guess we'll see on that one. Who really knows? Gonzaga hasn't played a really good team in quite a while. I didn't say I expect Gonzaga to lose, it just wouldn't surprise me. Remember, Gonzaga has been making this tournament and highly seeded for many years, but they haven't won one yet. History says I do have some credibility there, despite your accusation (wow!). I wouldn't bet the house on them. You lost all credibility with this statement. Unless you meant to say that you would be surprised in UCLA beat Gonzaga. I'd be shocked if the Bruins kept it under a 15 point loss.
Well then you're just being stubborn and prideful. The point is, it's not easy for any team to go undefeated in their conference, regardless of their conference, you know this, you're just unwilling to concede it. No big deal in the grand scheme of things.Sure, but that's going down a different path. I completely agree Gonzaga's program tried to erase the mantra of their conference being crappy, and schedule a brutal OOC slate. I applaud them for that. Nothing you can do about playing San Fran and Pepperdine in your conference, that's not Gonzaga's fault.
This is more about, for me anyway, an undefeated season by ANY team this year, having a bit of an asterisks attached. I don't think we realize how hard it is to come away being 8-0 in hostile road games. All your great teams the last few years? Where did their few losses likely come from? tough road games.
Where I took exception from your original post, is that I disagree with, and see no sense, in saying "If it's so easy, why can't other schools win in the WCC?" Just doesn't mean anything for me. All that tells me is how little that conference cares and pays for college ball outside of Zaga and maybe MSM.
No, they're media darlings because at one point they were the perennial underdog and kept making the tournament and getting upsets over bigger name schools. The media has continued to love them for the same reason. They're not one of the power conference schools but they've been successful. Their being a media darling has nothing to do with what you're saying. You're simply trying to create a narrative to slam Calipari and the players he has been recruiting, which also has nothing to do with Gonzaga or my comment. ?????They are the media darlings as you say, because they play the game the way it is supposed to be played. You don't see stories about coaches caught on tape paying players, and they do this year after year. They also don't recruit a bunch of aau superstars with no basketball skills, and have a load of hangers on following them every step, and are only worring about how fast can you get me to the league. Last night was a perfect example. The Mobley brothers, highly rated lottery picks with 7' size length, and all the natural talent you could ask for, you know the perfect Calipari recruits, and what happened ? A slow footed non athletic white boy fromTexas that couldn't jump over a phone book took these 2 lottery picks to the cleaners. It is truly amazing what actual basketball skills and IQ can do for a guy. It also helps to play on a team that plays together, and everyone knows their role. That is something that most of these high flying aau superstars with their overblown egos would never do, share the lime light with their teammates.
Define "really good" and tell me who has beaten a "really good" team in MM? USC beat Kansas by 30+, were they not "really good"? Just be honest and say that you're jealous of the Zags success, you'll feel better doing it. For the record, I think their game with Baylor will be a tossup, maybe Baylor by 2-3 points.I guess we'll see on that one. Who really knows? Gonzaga hasn't played a really good team in quite a while. Well, except for the Zags. I mean, they've made 6 straight Sweet 16's (a record) so surely they traditionally compete for a championship, right? It’s a terribly weak conference and in a terribly weak basketball year. Every single power house team we traditionally see competing for a championship was weak.
True, that's why so many teams did it this year.....oh, wait.Sure is easier when you have no away games. But ok lol. But yeah, no big deal, grand scheme of things and all..
Right, so presumably many more than 11 have gone undefeated in conference but lost to more major teams they scheduled in OOC. Which speaks to it being easier in a weak sauce conference.I’m speaking of going undefeated for the entire season. 11 teams in the entire history of the NCAA Tournament.
Well when you're playing in conferences with 4 5 6 or 7 tournament teams.. its a little more difficult.True, that's why so many teams did it this year.....oh, wait.
Jealous? Hardly. It's a good, little program. Few has stuck around and kept it relevant. So, good for them. This season was custom made for the kind of team Gonzaga usually has, which has returning starters and lots of upperclassmen. Covid-19 has helped Gonzaga as much as any other school. I've said in multiple threads that Gonzaga should win it this season. All I said earlier, which you took WAY too seriously, was that I wouldn't be "surprised" if UCLA beats them, and that's not because I think the Bruins are so great. It's because the Zags usually find a way to lose a game they should win. Their history says they're far from a sure thing, although in a season with no real stars in the college game, they are clearly the favorite.Define "really good" and tell me who has beaten a "really good" team in MM? I’m not a hater in as much as they’ve never won. Bring all this BS out when they’ve hung nets a few times. Playing in that church league of a conference out there has let them down in the past and let’s be honest, their road this year has been fairly easy to navigate. If they win it all then congrats to them but please stop referring to them as the 27 Yankees or the 1976 Cincinnati Reds. They ain’t there by a long shot.
See, this is where you reveal your agenda and true colors. So yes, I would call it "jealousy", but whatever. I think they'll lose in the final to Baylor by 2 or 3, which of course will give you more fodder and you'll down play Baylor, etc. but should be a great game anywayJealous? Hardly. No, I said that purely for YOU and your attitude. It was intended to get under your skin a bit, and it clearly did. Gonzaga is an up and coming program, if Few stays. If he leaves, they're done. They're a Johnny come lately. That isn't jealousy. It is fact. I do expect Gonzaga to win it, by the way. I've been saying it for weeks now. This season was made for this kind of team. There are no stars on winning teams in college basketball this season- no NBA prodigies. So, what's left? Just good college players. And Gonzaga always has a bunch of good college players and should be the favorite in this pandemic shortened season.See, this is where you reveal your agenda and true colors. So yes, I would call it "jealousy", but whatever. Yep, that would be the greater tragedy, in my opinion. Choose: Few and Gonzaga finally get their title or UCLA wins #12? I'll take Gonzaga all day.I am REALLY pulling for them now! Absolutely do not want to see UCLA cutting down the nets again, ever.....
USC was #6 in kenpom. They haven't played a good team in quite a while?I guess we'll see on that one. Who really knows? Gonzaga hasn't played a really good team in quite a while. Right? Thats another thing.. 16 seed, 8 seed, 5 seed, 6 seed, 11 seed.
Sometimes things break just right for a team, though.
Well, you just moved the goalposts. You specifically said traditional powerhouse. What's more "traditional" than currently 6 straight Sweet 16's (a record, btw)? High school kids only know Gonzaga as a traditional powerhouse.I suppose.....if you think Sweet 16s are the barometer for the title powerhouse. I personally don’t. Kentucky has been to 45, Duke 31, Kansas 30, etc.
Gonzaga 11. Big difference in those numbers.
that iu team is overrated, never played a one seed in the tournament. Their best team was the 1975 team (that UK beat)Was it 8 or 9? I figured it was at least a few. It's not even just that it's Gonzaga really. Even if Baylor went undefeated, I'd still kinda feel the same. No road games is a huge deal. Because if you're a great team, you can kinda roll through your schedule.
Look an undefeated season is an undefeated season, But I think a lot of people when asked about this will say "well yeah, but..". And maybe Gonzaga fans won't care..
EDIT: Wow, you're right.. it would be a 32-0 champ.. lol. Yeah sorry, I think Gonzaga deserves the title.. but the undefeated team is going to be met with a lot of doubt.. and if any team ever does it in a normal year? Gonzaga's will be a clear 2nd place like IU's was/is.
Why would you intentionally want to get under someones skin? I want you to have a great day and hope everyone is kind and considerate to you.No, I said that purely for YOU and your attitude. Haha! That's hilarious! You're so much more virtuous than me bro. I will admit, that gave me a chuckle. Why would you intentionally want to get under someones skin? I want you to have a great day and hope everyone is kind and considerate to you.

Traditional powerhouse: Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, maybe Louisville, Mich State, Indiana, not Gonzaga. No one moved anything. Only a Gonzaga fan would not understand who a traditional powerhouse is in college basketball.

Where is Kentucky, duke, kansas, louisville, michigan state, and indiana right now ? None of them are in Indianapolis, like Gonzaga is.Traditional powerhouse: Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, maybe Louisville, Mich State, Indiana, not Gonzaga.
Most of Kentucky's championships were before most people on here were even born. Today s what matters, not 1958.No one moved anything. Only a Gonzaga fan would not understand who a traditional powerhouse is in college basketball.
USC is obviously the best team they've played since December when they played Virginia, yes. The point I'm making when I say I wouldn't be surprised if UCLA beats them is that Gonzaga usually finds a way to lose a game they're favored to win by seeding. They're far from a lock because of that history.USC was #6 in kenpom. They haven't played a good team in quite a while?
They’ve been in the final four 76 times and won 23 titles....Where is Kentucky, duke, kansas, louisville, michigan state, and indiana right now ? None of them are in Indianapolis, like Gonzaga is.
Do you realize traditional powerhouse has nothing to do with this one season? It means years, decades, maybe a century in fact, of winning. Gonzaga is having a great season with the help of Covid-19. So, congrats! We're all hoping your boys beat traditional power UCLA and keep them from getting their 12th title. And if you'll stop pestering us we might root for Gonzaga to get their First (1) in the final. Haha!Where is Kentucky, duke, kansas, louisville, michigan state, and indiana right now ? I wouldn’t consider U6 a traditional powerhouseDo you realize traditional powerhouse has nothing to do with this one season? It means years, decades, maybe a century in fact, of winning.
