Do you think we make an offer or is the transfer portal the way to go to get another guard for next year?

I think the reason we haven’t offered yet is because Cal is looking at transfers. Cal really doesn’t want to coach players up, that’s clear to me.

if he can’t have his OAD frosh then he’ll just take established transfers for a year or two 😂.

EDIT: I’m not complaining about it because I honestly have lost faith in Cal’s ability to coach a team up. I just thought the observation was humerus for a coach paid 9 million big ones.

Definitely a transfer portal... I would much rather have Kellan Grady a 4 year starter on a D1 team. This kid could be another Devin askew. I’d much rather take my chances with a proven sure thing.. TBH, the only high school player I’d take not named hardy, sallis, would be Podemski(sp).

A lot of players now aren't willing to be coached up, especially with the new transfer rule.

I have to say I can’t blame a coach for going for an experienced player first versus coaching a young player up, especially given our situation with this debacle of a season. Give me guys who can run and play physical from the get go.

Was just reading about Grady and Ty Ty. Looks like Cal has reached out to Grady already. TyTy i know little about but i wonder if he would want to play behind someone like Grady ?

Have you seen a picture of this guy?

Am I the only one who thinks this guy could suit up for the Women's Basketball team and nobody would notice? Ala Juanna Mann? Just asking for friends who are very culturally insensitive and in no way represent my opinion. I support what ever BS cause that you think is good and I support all Democratic initiatives and....whatever.

KY Fans all season: "I wish Cal would recruit more multi year guys that will be really good college players and not NBA focused, and that will want to stay 3 or 4 years."

Cal recruits multi year guys that will be good college players and stay 3-4 years.

KY fans now: "I didn't mean him or him, they suck! Can't he get that grad transfer that will only have 1 year left? What about Hardy or Sallis? What about that transfer that will only be in college if he can't go pro? If they are going to need much time to develop, we don't want them!"

go get him. not sallis or hardy but still a guard with a high level of skill...of which UK has zero right now.

if it's between him and grady, i don't get....go after both. UK has quite a few scholarships still open for next year and they likely only have 3 guards on next year's team. you need guards.

why does it have to be an either or? fill out your freaking roster! quit living on the edge. that's why this year went the way it did.

Nothing wrong with that. When I was in HS i was called baby face. Now i am 75 and people think i am in my 50's . Now when i go to my HS reunion i just laugh at the bald heads and fat bellies. I always get the "Dick Clark Award". My hair is still thick and dark. At the last reunion I walked in and said "Opps wrong door this must be the old folks home. :)

Ty TY is a very good player. He is a strong, physical guard . He and Hickman would be very good for next years team. imo

As it pertains to Skyy, id rather he come in the following year, assuming we only have a limited time with him and that by waiting a year, we gain a year of his on the back end.

I know, rolling with Askew, Hickman and a grad transfer is awfully risky.. but I do worry about future recruiting. Id rather keep Skyy in the pocket and roll with this group, plus a great shot at the abundance of transfers this year.

About to be 26, probably could pass for 16. This is nice to hear lol.

From what I could find online, last season he averaged about 23 pts and 5 assists a game

Per 247:

6'3 185lb

Consistently productive point guard with good size and length. Solid frame with plenty of room to add strength. Has nice combination of scoring and creating for point guard position. Has ball skills and vision to consistently create for others while his jumper is playable to the perimeter. Finishes well at rim due to physical tools. Has ability to defend both guard positions at next level due to instincts and length. Projects as high major starter with professional upside if game continues to progress.

Ehhhh yes and no. I think he usually does a good job motivating guys and getting them to work together by the end of the season. But I wouldn’t say he’s a great developer of talent. Kenny Payne was given a ton of credit for developing the big men (and after this season I think more credit, if not all, is warranted).

As far as the guards go he probably has a bigger hand in that. But even still given the talent he recruits you would think his results would be better if he truly was a good developer of talent. Seems like a lot of other coaches do the same or more with less talented players.

6'3 . I dont know his stats but he is a good shooter and moves strong to the basket. He and Hickman will be battling for the pg spot if we get him. I have only watched parts of two of his games and was impressed.
