I will never embrace Pitino frankly those who do I find it hard to fathom— he made clear his disdain for the fan base on more than one occasion. He doesn’t share your respect for him I think that’s pretty clear.

I will never root for him and I wish him all the worst moving forward. He’s about as despicable a human being as there is. JMHO

How many times has the man said he shouldve never left UK?

As for disdain, i guess youre referring to the time he flipped off UK fans? I was at that game and if you heard what was said to him i can promise you 90% of Kentuckians wouldve done worse than flip the bird. Let it go, you cant torment a guy all his life then get pissed when he finally gives a response.

I’m not tormenting anyone I find it funny that some on this board wanna worship the guy when he couldn’t give two shites about them.

He’s a great coach no question but a miserable POS of a human being. Honestly if it weren’t for the 3-4 posts on this board about him everyday I wouldn’t give him a thought. Some on here need to let it go i think. Or don’t I really DGAF.

Also, he did not turn around the Iona program. They had made the previous 4 NCAA tourneys.
[/QUOTE]

Iona was 12-17 last season. They were not making the tournament last year if it had taken place. I know 12 wins may seem good by Cals 9 win season comparison, but its not. Pitino turned the program around.

Funny how you say we shouldn't torment him, when you're the most rabid, hate-filled ant-Tubby poster on this board that can't seem to let things go. There can't be a thread on here wishing Tubby a happy birthday without you ranting about how much you hate the man. You should follow your own advice.

I’d take a despicable human being who wants to win at all costs as a basketball coach over someone that goes to church everyday and is more concerned about generational poverty.
I can handle the fact that neither one gives 2 ffffs about me and that’s OK.

I can get down with this. Pitino years were the highlight for many, many Kentucky fans. Just this morning my Dad and I were talking about this. I brought up the first 5 years of Cal and he immediately said it pales in comparison to the Pitino years. There is a large segment of Kentucky fans of a certain age that will always look back on Pitinos run here fondly. Watching old recordings of my Dads I can absolutely see why. May have been the most excited I have ever seen Rupp Arena. Those guys played so hard and Pitino was (and still is) a HELL of a coach.

He may be a dumpster fire of a human being but that shouldn’t overshadow all the excitement he brought to this state. He is the reason a lot of people still bleed blue.

I’ve never read or heard where he admitted that truth. Maybe I missed it but you’re going to have to give me a link before I’ll believe it.

If Pitino can get Iona to actually competing for better seeds than they normally got under Tim Cluess and they can win some tournament games, I'll say he took the program to a higher level than it already was. Sure, they had a rough 19-20 season but its not like Cluess ran the program in the ground.

They did make it the 4 years before that. Had the coach not had to quit for health reasons they probably would have been better last year with their interim coach. They were 120 and 33 the 5 years before last year.

Cal's first six years were equal or slightly better than Pitino's, but Pitino did it with Kentucky players. I think it took a lot of heat off his "personality". I like Cal's personality, it's his roster building I can't stand.

I don’t like Pitino or Calipari, so being objective...Pitino has said that a few times.

Embrace the guy that went to our most hated rival thinking it was ok and believing we should cheer for him. Then on the way out of rupp he gives the fans the finger . Sure thing!
I honestly don't think Rick ever viewed it as coming back to our biggest rival. I think & he's said he wanted back in college basketball badly & when a spot opened at a historically top program & back in Kentucky it was the perfect opportunity to him. At the time he had a lot of connections & interest in Ky with the horses etc and Wanted to me back to the state. I think he thought he only had to play us one time per year & never dreamed it would turn into the hate fest it did.

You’re defending a “man” who oversaw a human minor sex trafficking ring.

Let that sink in.

For those of you who rip Cal's car salesman personality, just remember one of the first things he did when he won the trophy was drive it around the state and let the fans pose with it and with him. I don't think even Roy Cocoler Williams would do that. I know Coach K, Boeheim, Pitino and just about everybody else wouldn't. There's a lot about Cal that drives me crazy, but I would trust him with my dogs or kids for a week. He genuinely cares about people. Yes, the whole "end generational poverty" thing has gone too far, but it beats some of the negatives of other coaches.

People that can’t forgive should remember the Bible verse, he who is without sin, cast the first stone.
