Very happy that Allen is coming back. I got caught up in the downers who kept saying he should and would transfer. He is a major key to our shooters we have wanted for next season. Works harder on his defense and lateral movement and it will be very tough to keep him off the floor. Get Mintz back and bring in another shooter ame we could be a very good team next year.

Only at Kentucky is a bench player returning considered a major coup for the program and is defined as breaking news. At other programs, its not only not breaking news, its not news at all.

A guy isn't transferring! Everyone rejoice

This is great news. But it’s really sad that we now have to wait for every damn player to announce whether or not they’re coming back. We wait on pins and needles to see if a woefully unprepared player is going to go pro or if a second tier player is going to transfer because he’s not getting a fair shake.

The program is so completely broken.
Happens at most every program nowadays. Not just UK. UK no more broken than anyone else.

I want Clarke, Toppin, and Ware back. I really think that’s who we need back with what we have coming in. Powell would be great and Allen and Askew already have spoke. Brooks Is a meh return for me personally. I don’t think we’d miss him with all the other pieces.
You don’t want a guy that averaged 10 ppg back? Brooks is on the same path as PJ, only a year later. He was the only one on the team who could create his own shot.

The dominoes are falling my peeps!!!

Starting to come together, and seems very likely to add Toppin to that list, followed by likely for Mintz, and a “should return” for Brooks. Sure would be disappointed to see Brooks go, I think he would have a phenomenal Junior year. Trying to shake the bad feeling from the info of him not returning being put on this board today. It just wouldn’t make sense. Not at all expecting Boston to come back, and as much as I would love to think he could have a great Sophomore year, I can’t fully convince myself that would be true.

Would love to have Powell AND Frederick added to the roster. Really hoping Cal backs up his comments about bringing in shooters. Look no further there’s two great ones. Frederick attempted 175 threes in 2 years at Iowa and hit over 47%. Powell put up phenomenal numbers in the handful of games he played at Auburn and hit 44% from 3. Those 2 along with Mintz and Allen would give us 4 great outside shooters. And if the 3 becomes a priority, Toppin, Brooks, and Askew should be working non stop on their outside shots and we’d hopefully see marked improvement there. I honestly have no idea what Hopkins and Hickman bring shooting ability wise, but how great would it be to have 7-8 guys who are threats from the outside? With 4 of them being true marksmen, and the other 3 or 4 being good enough to keep teams honest. I’m certain that would be a lot more fun to watch than what we saw this season.

Glad he’s staying thought he would bolt for sure. Showed a lot that last game, wasn’t just talking threes looked good curling off the down screen to get in the lane to make twos or get to the line, something Boston couldnt figure out all season with 3x the minutes

Never once thot he would leave. Even without knowing his mindset, you have to know that Cal “had” to have him back and made whatever assurances were necessary (if any were)

Stoked about this.

If we can get a couple more impact players back (at least 2 of Brooks, Mintz and Toppin), things could really be looking up. There are other possibilities for return, sure...but I'm trying to stay realistic.

I think it's more about the social media generation. They don't have to announce it but they just do it on the socials. Other schools athletes also announce but since we have so many leave it gets more recognition when someone stays. Social media is for sure an aspect with these college kids

I never bought that line but I do wonder and presume that having another big outting in his last game ended any notion of transferring for him.

Edit: I mean if you grew up a UK fan it's gotta be the best feeling possible to go out there and score like he did both games against Ms St.
I want the best players on our team at all times. No matter the year senior or freshman. But I do enjoy seeing local players succeed. I'd choose the better player every single time, but when the better player is local it feels a little better

Totally agree, just something special when a local kid can play and excel at a big time school. Not too many elite athletes coming out of KY so when we get one we feel a little extra pride. To you point though, not at the cost of not playing a better player.

Oh the dramatics. Get a grip.

Every team waits to see who is leaving and who is returning. Stop with the nonsense.
Theres only like one other team (duke) that loses 6 or 7 players a year like we usually do.

That’s great news. Kid can be a 3 point assassin if we can get a PG to break down the D and kick it to him for some open 3s.
He can be. He needs to get with a personal trainer and add 15 lbs of muscle. If anything it will bring his confidence out
